Rating: Summary: not bad Review: This book wasn't that bad. It's extreamly boring but unique. It was pretty origional and had a good moral to it. All this girl does in the book is find out who she really is, and it dosent matter what somone wears or what people think. I would suggest that you read this book to anyone with no life.

Rating: Summary: Thinking outside the box Review: In a world where thinking outside the box is often ostracized, Stargirl's poignant and altruistic attempts to find the humanity in humans is a story that both moves the heart and the rest of me into action. Even though the story follows that of early teen, Leo, it's message can be echoed at any age level. As an 18-year-old who hasn't read very much fiction for young adults in a long time, this book is a definite must for adults and kids alike. Very few stories nowadays focus in on areas other that romantic links and while this does have a kind of romantic relationship, the true message is clearly developed and staged in another excellent novel by jerry spinelli.
Rating: Summary: Stargirl Review From A High Schoolers Point of View Review: You can read the summary elsewhere but here I'll give my personal review on the book. This isn't an adventure/action book, but rather a mellow, well written drama. Its very descriptive and could be made into a movie. The story is emotional, deals with issues that teens face regarding popularity, peer pressure, being kind to others and learning how to be yourself. This book will encourage you to be yourself, not to be afraid of what others think of you, and enjoy life to the fullest. Read it as a encouraging book, maybe for entertainment but it will help you like yourself and learn to change for the better.
Rating: Summary: Stargirl Review By Shannon B. Review: She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow. She was the faintest scent of cactus flower, the flitting shadow of an elf owl. We did not know what to make of her. In our minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew. These are the exact words of Leo once he finally got a little adjusted to Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High everyone knew she was strange; from the strange hippie type cloths she wears, to her pet rat Cinnamon, to her playing of the Ukulele and the strange things she does. From that day on Leo and his friend, Kevin, wanted to get her on their show Hot Seat. Finally, the day arrived when she was going to be on Hot Seat. Kevin started asking questions. Stargirl was shy. All of a sudden Leo shouted fire one and the seat turned hot. Stargirl jumped up and screamed. Her pet Cinnamon was running all over the set. Once they calmed down Kevin asked the first question. Stargirl answered the question strangely but she mumbled the answer. Suddenly it happened. Just like that. Without anyone knowing. This is a very funny book. You will laugh, you will cry. But mainly you will laugh. I advise you to read this book. It's hilarious.
Rating: Summary: One of the Greatest Books Ever! Review: Stargirl is a very touching book! Its about a girl who has been homeschooled & is sent to a public school.Shes different from everyone else which is one of the things that makes this book so good.It sort of reminds us of what we're really like, the fact that everyone is different and how we make fun of each other because of our differences. It also shows how people have trouble with defending each other sometimes because they are afraid & how that fear can make us lose things we that they never realized mattered so much. Its the kind of book that makes you wanna smile & then laugh & after that break down & cry.It doesn't make much since to you probably so if you wanna understand just read the book, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: A different kind of girl, Stargirl Review: This story is about a boy named Leo who goes to a school where everyone wears, says, and does the same thing. A new girl comes to his school named Stargirl, who dresses and does things differently. First Stargirl is an oddity, then popular, then everyone hates her, except Leo. Jerry Spinelli wrote this book very well. When he discribes something to you in the book, you get almost a perfect picture in your mind of what he is describing. At first it was difficult to get into the book, but after I read a few chapters I didn't want to put the book down. In this story, Jerry Spinelli shows Leo as a shy, caring person. Leo has to decide which friendship he values more, Stargirl's or the other kids at his school . I think that teens can relate to this book which is why I liked this book as much as I did. Stargirl is realistic fiction. It deals with what some teens and kids go through at school for just being diferent. When you read this book you really start to put yourself in the characters positions, and think about what you would do. Age 10 and up
Rating: Summary: Review of Stargirl Review: Let me start out by saying that this book raised and lowered itself on my scale of one to ten throughout the book. I liked some chapters more than others. Jerry Spinelli, the author, dreamed up this amazing character who is not afraid to be herself. She was home-schooled up until high school and always wore long, old-fashioned dresses that her mother made for her. She would search the newspapers for birthdays and other events(funerals, welcome home parties, etc.). At lunch, she would sing "Happy Birthday" on her ukulele with her pet rat, cinnamon, on her shoulder. She fell in love with Leo, and he fell in love with her. It was all working out great, until he asked her to be normal. She tried to get popular and when she won first place in the Arizona State Oritorical Contest, she expected a huge crowd at the school. Instead, all she got was two teachers and a friend. She went home sad. In October, the... area high school had a dance. She came in a yellow dress with some sort of golden flower on her wrist. She started the Bunny Hop which went all around the golf course. When she left the dance, no one ever saw her again. Spinelli did a great job of writing similies and metaphores in this book, I just don't find it too interesting. I guess I just like normal people!
Rating: Summary: STARGIRL, STARGIRL!! Review: Read it with my class, and I love, really love this book! Stargirl is a sophomore, when she starts going to her new school. Before going to this new school Stargirl had been home schooled. Stargirl is really, really, wild, but she means very well, what I mean is she tries to be nice to everyone and make everyone happy, but sometimes that does not work out well. Hilari Kimble is very mean, mean to everyone especially, to Stargirl, not even for a good reason. ! I can't say anything more, sorry! STARGIRL is a fun and interesting charcher. I would recommend this book to all ages! I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Stars for 'Stargirl' Review: In this wonderful story Spinelli has created a character you just have to love. From the moment you are introduced to "Stargirl" you can't help but think something is different about this kid. The students are immediately struck by the magic of such a mystifying girl. And trust me, from the moment she seranades Alan Ferko in the cafeteria to the the second she makes an extravagant entrance at the ball, you will be urgeing nonconformity. This book shows through the eyes of Leo Borlock, narrator(and love intrest), that nothing is more inspiring than the people not afraid of being themselves. I warn you that this book made me laugh out loud and by the end I was crying uncontrollably. If you want a book about "...the magnificence and rarity of true nonconformity" then this is it!
