Rating: Summary: The truth that lies in the pages. Review: At first the cover may throw you off, but inside is a story we can truly relate to. Stargirl has spent here whole life being who she wants to be.That all changed when she met Leo,an ordinary gut at Mica High. She wanted to make him happy, so she changed her name back to the original and did all she could to become popular. She started to show the real her and the crowd shunned her as well as Leo.Then comes an ending all will be surprised to see. But truly what lies in the pages behind the story of Stargirl is something we all know. Just as she did, we change ourselves to make others happy. We strive to be poupular, but we all end up being ourselves. Its is sort of something most adolesences go through al least once or maybe over and over until we fully become aware that if they don't like you for you then they aren't important. This is a stroy that could truly help us understand ourselves better, us being Stargirl, the one who always feels different and,if your a girl, some boy being Leo,eventually liking us because of who we are.I recommed this to any Teen or even any Preteens or Adults.
Rating: Summary: Boring...and hard to understand Review: I thought this book wasn't very good. It was so boring to read. I could hardly understand it. Everything was just sort of mixed up! At some parts I didn't even know what was happening! It was kind of wierd and unusual. I didn't understand the book. I knew what it was about, but reading it just didn't sound like an interesting book. It was kind of scattered in all places. And it was wierd when the boy all of a sudden liked Stargirl. At first he was embarrassed by her and didn't want anything to do with her and all of a sudden he liked her. I really didn't understand the book at all. To tell the truth it wasn't a very realistic book. I'm more into books that have characters and events that happen in real life. Sorry to say, but it wasn't very interesting to me.
Rating: Summary: An original Review: This was a great book, with great word choice and well rounded characters. It described a small town where a girl named Stargirl comes, singing, playing a banjo, and carrying around a pet rat. Something you just don't do at school. She is very inspirational, eye-opening, and very unique. Though, I doubt in this world anyone would be her... people just aren't... it would be cool to have someone like that around today. A fast, great read.
Rating: Summary: merely okay Review: It's cute a book. Sometimes even clever and endearing, but overall, it's just okay. It's a very quick read and there were a lot of scenes I thought Spinelli could have slowed down or stretched out more. He sometimes seemed to be telling rather than showing. Reading it was kind of a guilty pleasure. I can see this book as a movie.
Rating: Summary: Very Nice Review: I think Stargirl was a fun book to read. It was sweet and, in my opinion, interesting. I t was a very original story, only that some parts were part of the fantasy part! but If a girl like Stargirl really existed, it would be awsome to have a friend like her!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC!!!!! Review: this is my favorite book ever!! I have 2 copies of it! A hardback and a paperback! This is a wonderful book that is so realistic and u can relate top all the characters!!It is funny and teaches a lesson!! All kids should read it!! I lend it to my friends to read and they love it too!!
Rating: Summary: have you ever been to errie indiana? Review: I could only wish I was as brave and as overwhelmingly generous as the magical girl the book is named after. Told from the perspective of sixteen year old Leo, who falls under her charms like the rest of Mica High School, it is a wistful, heartfelt, and bittersweet narrative that ultimately packs a gentle but firm emotional punch. This book should be required reading for adults young and old for it's ringing endorsement of individualism. It reminds us that like Stargirl it's okay to be different, that sameness is boring, and that we should all just be ourselves. At just under two hundred pages it can almost be tackled in one sitting. A perfect gift for someone who may not feel that they totally belong, or that their being different is a bad thing, or simply to be gently reminded that acceptance starts from within.
Rating: Summary: Burn it in a holy bonfire! Review: This is honestly the worst book I've ever read in my entire life and I can't even begin to describe how discusted I feel when I see all these 5-Star ratings for StarDope. IT'S A MIRACLE! Todays authors have finally realized that they can make thousands on a book that took them less than five minutes to write! The world is being starved of adequite literature... it appaules me. I think I'm going to ralph... Anyway, may I suggest a quality novel such as Call of the Wild or Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry? I love Harry Potter, too! ( I know a lot of peeps hate HP, but I think that the characters are far from fictional, the vividness of the discription is remarkable, and the amazingly unique story is truly inspiring.) Try a better book than StarDope ( anything will do. Even reading the fine print on JCPenny's coupons is a higher quality read.) Just don't praise StarDope. I BEG OF YOU! Thank you for your time. Good Day.
Rating: Summary: Read Something Else Review: Stragirl is a poorly written, weak novel with an extremly thin and single-dimensional story line. I left the book feeling and knowing the same things as when I picked up the book. Personally I think that Stargirl is a waste of time, and I truly expected more from an author like Jerry Spinelli.
Rating: Summary: something went wrong in this book Review: In this book, Jerry didn't capture the mind or lifestyle of a teenager at all. a perfect, sweet girl that changes her self image for a boy isn't believeabe, and dissapionts the reader that this "miricle girl" would let go of her pride to become one of the crowd. the wrting is also [not good] and lacks life's emotion and cripples the reader to allow themselves to identify themselves with the whole plot.
