Summary: NOT HIS BEST BOOK...
Review: Denise Holden is a single mother, raising her 4 year-old son Kyle, and struggling with his speech disability. During a savage storm, Denise and Kyle are involved in a terrible car accident, leaving Denise unconscious and bleeding. To the rescue comes volunteer fireman Taylor McAden, upon finding the car only she (Denise) will be found...As the search for Kyle begins, Taylor and Denise will begin to bond, a bond that is strong, a bond that will have these two strangers opening their hearts to one another. "The Rescue" begins interestingly enough, but eventually falls flat. Once the rescue mission is accomplished the book drags on about Taylor and Denise's struggle with love, and life itself. The sub-plot of Kyle's disability holds the readers attention, as well as the development of a bond between Taylor and the young boy, but this does not seem to be enough to carry the novel. Nicholas Sparks has his formula love theme applied here, without any new twists. His style of writing is very readable, and the length of the novel is short, so many readers will have no problem finishing it in a couple hours, but many readers will come away from it unsatisfied. Summary: Another fine piece of fiction
Review: I purchased this book two days ago and am almost done with it. While I am normally a fan of biographies and true life stories, I always find Nicholas Sparks' books fantastic. It usually takes me days to start getting in to works of fiction, but Nicholas Sparks never disappoints. I'm sucked in on the very first page and can't put it down. It's easy to picture the characters and bring them to life while reading. The story is dramatic, but not melodramatic. Every sentence leaves you anxiously awaiting the next line. There are similarities to Sparks' other pieces of work, but enough differences to make it an interesting new story. My only complaint is that when I finish reading any of Sparks' books, I must wait an entire year before reading his newest story and as hard as I try, I can never find another piece of fiction that captures my attention and holds my interest as much as Nicholas Sparks does. Keep em coming, but maybe a little faster (2 a year maybe?)

Summary: Beautiful love story
Review: At twenty-nine in Edenton, North Carolina, single mother Denise Holden wonders how her dreams turned into nightmares. Currently, she lives in the home of her mother struggling to raise her four-year-old son Kyle who suffers with central auditory processing disorder. While driving in a torrential storm, Denise crashes. Firefighter Taylor McAden rescues her and leads the search for the missing Kyle. When Taylor finds Kyle, the two hit it off in a way that the child has never done before. Soon Taylor and Denise fall in love, but he has demons that reject the concept of a lasting, loving relationship, which leaves Denise and Kyle wondering if soon they will become excessive baggage. THE RESCUE is an emotional love story starring three damaged individuals. The story line is extremely powerful when the characters ride their feelings into activities that they normally would avoid. The two lead adults, supported by a child with a learning disorder, are incredibly drawn and their respective "interfering" mothers provide the sparks that inspire the story line. Nicholas Spark's tale is must reading for those fans that cherish a deep-rooted love story like the author,s previous works (see MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE and A WALK TO REMEMBER). Harriet Klausner

Summary: Awesome reading
Review: I got this book as soon as it hit the stores. I was not disappointed. It is written simply, beautifully, letting the story shine through. It's about love...the amazing love of parent to child, the love between a man and a wife, and the healing power of love. It's about not being afraid to give your heart, not being afraid to love someone. It is a beautiful story. I recommend it highly!

Summary: First read by Nicholas Sparks
Review: I'm sure that I will tread on the toes of Sparks' fans when I write this, but honestly, this was an average novel. The plot was extremely predictable....so predictable, in fact, that I would have put the book down after the first chapter or so, but for the engaging style of Mr. Sparks. The writing style kept my attention long after the plot itself lost my interest. This is an okay piece of light fiction. Good for a brief break or a bit of reading before falling asleep. This is far from the worst novel I've ever read, but after reading it, I'm not sure that I want to read Mr. Sparks other works. I imagine that they will be about as predictable.

Summary: Romantic, tearjerker with a dash of fire-fighting adventure!
Review: As usual, I'll let you read the synopsis above and just tell you what I liked/disliked about the book. No point in being redundant. While this book has similar main characters to Message in a Bottle (single mother, loner guy), it definitely carries its own weight. I was so relieved that the author has not fallen into the "formula writing" style that so many bestselling authors have these days. The plot is new but the author's style of writing is still there. He does an excellent job of introducing the characters and letting us go through their range of emotions with them. The book flows nicely as I was able to finish in a weekend. (I obtained an advance reader copy about a month ago) If you have enjoyed his previous novels, you'll like this one too. You'll also enjoy it if this is your first Nicholas Sparks book. You should also check his others as they are all available in paperback now.

Summary: Excellent Christmas Gift!
Review: I grabbed an advanced reading copy of this book at work one day for a friend, and it sat in my car waiting to be delivered. There it sat... and sat... untill I had a doctor's appointment. I grabbed it on my way in for the long wait and boring medical journals that waited inside. This book sucked me in on the first page. The characters, Denise and Taylor were so realistic. They had everyday struggles and convictions that made these people alive in my mind. This is a page turner book that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling and a little faith in people and the power of love. I had never read this type of book before, but now I am an addict. A must read!

Review: This is the first Nicholas Sparks book that I've read and it was so amazing and I can't wait to read another one of his books. The book had many twists and turns that really helped you to appreciate the life you lead. I didn't really like the Epilogue becuase .... I would give the ending away. so if your reading for an interesting love story that will make you cry, this is the book for you.

Review: If you like previous releases *Message in a Bottle" and *A Bend in the Road*, you would have fallen into this one as well. Consistent with all his novels, Nicholas Sparks conveys the message of the greatest commitment of all: to love someone forever. Volunteer fireman Taylor McAden is driven to horrendous and heroic risks to save lives. When he set out to search for Denise's 7-year-old son Kyle, Taylor never imagined that the encounter with the mother and son would force him to deal with fear, bitterness, and the troubled past in his heart. This resuce requires Taylor to open doors to his past slammed shout by pain. Will Taylor be able to overcome this pain with the help of Denise? Sparks has introduced and developed characters fully as well as their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Sparks' writing is stirring once again. You'll be deeply moved at the part where Taylor found Kyle after the car accident. Sparks stirs our heart-strings again! Good read. 4.5 stars.
