Rating: Summary: Core Principles for Financial Success Review: "The Richest Man in Babylon" along with "The Baron Son" by Vicky Therese Davis are two of my favorite financial parables. While one appreciates "The Baron Son" for its depth, one will also appreciate "The Richest Man in Babylon" for its simplicity.
For those that wish understand how to make money work for them, this is a great financial start.
The book's core principles can be summarized into its 7 Cures for a Lean Purse:
1. Start thy purse to fattening - Save 10 % of your income
2. Control thy expenditures - Budget effectively so that you may have the coins to pay for expenses and worthwhile desires without spending more than 90% of your earnings
3. Make thy gold multiply - invest your savings to build a stream of income
4. Guard thy treasure from loss - Protect yourself from unwise investments and invest only where your money will be safe
5. Make of thy dwelling a profitable investment - It is recommended that every person own their own home
6. Insure a future income - Provide in advance for your needs in old age and the protection of your family
7. Increase thy ability to earn - Through study, become wiser and more skillful so that you will always be in the forefront of progress
Ultimately, this fun guide to financial understanding will show you very simply how to acquire, retain, and grow your earnings. Read it, and learn why millions of others have been inspired to change their spending and investing habits with these ancient secrets of success.
Rating: Summary: NOT UNabridged Review: Amazon's listing is wrong, this is highly abridged, and Amazon's cover art is a mockup, and not the real cover art. There is ONE cassette tape in the package. One side of the tape is only one story from Babylon, abridged. As far as that goes it's OK. The cheesy music effects somehow do work with the material. The other side is "The Magic Story"; I can't tell if it is abridged, but the first half of this story isn't worth a second (or first) listen, while the second half would need to be heard many times to understand it, but it's not worth the effort to fool with the rewind button. Strangely, I *have* listened to the whole tape several times, and I don't feel cheated in my purchase, but I am disappointed. I cannot recommend this tape. Get both real books "Richest Man in Babylon" and "Think And Grow Rich" first.
Rating: Summary: Only a Piece of the Puzzle Review: For a classic book such as this, I am disappointed that the Napoleon hill Foundation chose only to complete one of George Clason's stories. The entire book should be completed for the world to share. Perhaps the only good result is that this one story may convince listeners to read the entire book!
Rating: Summary: Very good quality cd; very inspiring stories Review: I had read "The Richest Man in Bablyon" many times and in fact give it away as a accessory gift. It's a good story in print and really comes to life on this cd. "The Magic Story" was also interesting and inspiring. Contrary to that 1 star reviewer, I found the background music pleasant and the narrators were excellent. And the cd was of excellent quality.

Rating: Summary: Two classics together for the first time! Review: I have read The Richest Man in Bablyon many times and I creidit for helping me amass a reasonable amount of wealth that I would not have been able to do otherwise. Reading is great, but something special happens when you listen to the information. And it certaintly beats listening to the news and hearing about the robberies, rapes, murders etc. The Magic Story is also inspiring and a powerful story. I highly recommend this program. It's great!
Rating: Summary: Waste of Money!! Review: I just wasted my money purchasing this CD. The publishers should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this garbage. A basic common sense 1st grader story with horrible voices and tacky music.
Rating: Summary: Excellent cd Review: I really enjoyed reading The Richest Man in Bablyon and found this cd on The Richest Man in Bablyon and The MAGIC Story stimulating and inspiring. Far better than listening to the negative junk like the news and play this while my grandchildren are riding with me. They love it and what a way to start our young ones off to a g reat financial beginning.
Rating: Summary: What a waste Review: Purchase the books - do not waste your money on this audio package. I purchased the CD version - it comes in a double CD box but only contains one CD, with both stories on one CD. Except the stories are _highly_ abridged Also, the people who do the reading on the CD - they should take a class in effective communication. Although the reading is very clear, it is over-dramatic at times or completely stoic. A typical word-for-word reading. Poorly done. But _do_ purchase the books - they are excellent.
Rating: Summary: I love this cd! Review: Two fantastic stories, unabridged and on a high quality cd. Much better than listening to some wacky music or all the robberies, murders and rapes. The Richest Man in Bablyonis in particular an incredible story on how to create wealth. While I have read the book many times, there is something different about listening to this incredible story. Highly recommended and if you haven't already guessed, all of the other reviews are by the same person. Ignore them they would rather recommend something like Grand Auto Theft or Motel/Hell. That should tell you where there minds are. Listen to the cd and if you haven't already done so, read the book as well.
