Summary: One of the best reads this year!
Review: I finished this book in 2 days because I just couldn't put it down once I became engrossed in the witty context and the detailed views of high society.
I highly suggest this book to read when you want to be entertained. It's laugh out loud funny and even sometimes sad where I got a little bit misty eyed. :)

Read it, you'll love it!

Summary: Totally Boring Ending!!!!
Review: My main complaint about this book was the ending. I was so angry that I wasted my money and time on a book that left me totally unsatisfied with the ending. It was almost like the authors decided to stop writing and decided 'OK, the end'. After investing so much time in these characters you really wanted to see the X's get what is coming to them and nothing happens to them. Or at the very least, have Nan's character triumph in some way.

So, don't waste your money unless you enjoy making up your own ending which is what I had to do.

Summary: Endeariing; thought provoking; entertaining
Review: I could not put this book down. I wanted to read about every move the nanny and the family she was involved with would make next. I could not beleive the parents of poor little Grayer the four year old that Nan was "babysitting". THe mother was so self-invovled I thnk she only had the child so she could have a "hobby" for a few years and then when he got old enough to walk and talk she could "pawn" him off on someone else. This woman actually thought that the few committees she was on and getting a facial or her hair done was considered a job and required the services of a nanny to watch her little boy. The father was also a real "piece of work". He just cared about his work and the mistress he had on the side. I did feel so sorry for the little boy. He was so loved by his nannies and that is all he had in his life and that was not even a constant. His mother kept changing them on him. THe mother never did have a good reason for her actions. She just made up inane excuses to fire them. I certainly would enjoy a sequal to this book. I sort of felt like the ending left me hanging. It is an enjoyable book and certainly entertaining.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: While attending her Senior year at NYU, Nanny begins looking for a new job as a nanny. She soon meets Mr. and Mrs. X, and begins watching their son, Grayer. The X's pay absolutely no attention to Grayer, and soon Mrs. X begins asking Nanny to run errands for her, such as picking up her dry cleaning, and buying things for her dinner party.

Before she knows it, Nanny is swept up into a world of gossiping, backstabbing, dinner parties, lying, and cheating. And realizes that it's too late to turn back.

This is an excellent and hilarious read. A must have for everyone.

Summary: Probably not what you're expecting
Review: I got sucked in by the hype of this book. I was expecting a funny book of observations and experiences something like Bridget Jone's Diary. Wrong! This is a not-very-well written book that is not funny, despite the ridiculous demands that Nanny's employer makes on her. You just want to scream, "kick Mrs. X in the butt, tell her where to go, and walk out the door!" Poor Nanny endures humiliation after humiliation.

An somewhat entertaining read, but not worth the hype.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I knew I had to read this book, when I kept hearing my friend Claire -- who is always an excellent source for finding incredible books -- exclaiming a barage of things including "Oh my Gosh!" "Those monstrous people!" "That's the funniest thing I've ever read!" and "Oh for crying out loud."

And that basically sums up the book. The reader is slung happily around from bursting into hysterical laughter to being absolutely disgusted to feeling so so so so sorry for everyone.

While it's not the best book I've ever read and the writing itself, having been cowritten, is not exactly incredible (though very good; the writing isn't BAD by any means at all) it is definitely a pageturner -- I finished it in 2 days, and it will make you think before judging.

Summary: witty and fun
Review: I loved this book and read it in one day. These authors have a wonderful voice and I hope to see more from them. I felt like I had a new girlfriend while reading this novel and was sorry to have it end. The style was witty and real, just like talking to that one person who has all the best gossip and tells it in the most interesting way. Highly recommended.

Summary: Great Summer Read
Review: This is one great Summer read! The only problem came when it was finished. I hated to reach the last page and I'm STILL worring about "Grover".

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great from a nannies perspective!
Review: I am a nanny and I loved The Nanny Diaries. I have had similar experiences to many of those described in the book. The poor kids I nanny for were deprived for a day or so while I read this book! I just couldn't put it down! WOW!

Summary: Buy IT!!!
Review: After being a former nanny in England for an American family, I was drawn to this book not only to see how other nannies viewed their experiences but also to see how the American upper class treated their nannies.
Well I wasn't disappointed. This is a fantastic book, that although it has it's slow points, for the most of it, it is well paced and that in turns makes you, the reader, want to keep turning the pages.
People have commented that these characters aren't true to life but anyone who has ever been a nanny anywhere will be quick to tell you that they are. Many people who have read the book have commented that they can't understand why Nanny, the main character in the book, would stay on and work for the X's after the way they treat her. Simple.....for Grayers sake.
This is another of those books that keep you turning the page and then when the last page has been turned, you kind of look at it as if to say...."is that it? What no more?"
A truly enjoyable read for anyone who had ever wanted to be a fly on the wall but never had a chance. Lets just hope there is a follow up book.
Thoroughly worth the money.
