Summary: True to Life
Review: I found many of the anecdotes in this book quite real. I was a nanny for 6 years and witnessed many of the same types of situations pointed out in this book. The people I worked for were fabulous--completely the opposite of the X-family. Unfortunately there are many parents out there, especially in the NYC area that treat their children like pets they never really wanted to have in the first place. Regardless, I LOVED this book. I absolutely cried at the ending --only because it reminded me of my painful departure. You will find yourself drawn in to "Nanny's world" and find it hard to put this book down!

Summary: Well written and addicting
Review: Anyone that has done any babysitting in the past will automatically connect with this book. My childcare experience isn't even close to that of the authors, but I still connected to Nan and understood her attachment to Grayer.
I couldn't put this book down. It had a good mixture of amusing and serious moments, but most of all, they created a character you can really relate to. I highly recommend it.

Summary: huh?
Review: I honestly don't know what the big hype is. I thought this book was one of those can't-put-down, have-to-read-in-one sitting but it's far from it. I didn't find it funny.

Summary: Great light comedy
Review: While this book was not all that thought provoking, it was a good read. It not only kept me interusted, but laughing. I found myself laughing out loud. Sure maybe it is to be expected that the rich and famous do not treat their nannies well, the authors over exaguration and sarcastic humor made this book fun. If you are looking for a book to make you think and not be able to put down, skip this one. If you are looking for a light book, this is a must.

Summary: Really depressing...
Review: I was really disappointed with the Nanny Diaries. I thought it would be funnier, but I couldn't get past the sadness of Grayer (4 years old) and his disfunctional family life. He tries to reach out to his parents, but they won't give him the time of day. Hence the Nanny. There are a few funny moments in the book; example: Mrs. X, Grayer's mother finds Grayer running around the apartment naked and says basically, "What did I tell you? No penises in the house, only in the bedroom!" Nanny and her love life are left hanging by the end of the novel, so I suspect that there is a sequel just around the corner. Maybe it will be better...

Summary: Bitter Self Serving Tripe
Review: I can't believe I paid for this drivel. A couple of ex-nannies write a completely self-serving piece of trash and now they are living the high life from the proceeds...the life style they so love to look down upon from their ivory tower. Pity the child who was exposed to such holier than thou attitudes. Does the author really think she/they are any better than the parents they portray so vitriolically? I think not.

Summary: No warm, fuzzy feelings at the end of this book.
Review: It looks like the people who read this book either loved it or hated it. I think a lot of people are taking this book too seriously. Remember, this is a work of fiction even though it may be based on real life experiences.

I thought the book was a very enjoyable read and would highly recommend it. I do however wish the characters had better names than Mrs. X, Ms. Chicago, H.H. and Grayer.

The ending was excellent. Who ever said the ending for books had to make your heart feel all warm and fuzzy?

Summary: Sarcastic frustrated employer bashing
Review: This book was touted as being "funny" and "hilarious". I found it to be neither. The nanny seemed nothing more than a frustrated employee who took delight in ripping her employer to shreds with a sharp tongue and sarcasm. When a person becomes a "household" or "domestic" employee, the private life of the employer is revealed. Every family has ghosts and troubles of some sort or another. The authors of this book are merely exploiting the personal matters of a "richer" family for financial gain. A disappointment to read. I threw it away after the dog chewed up the corner.

Summary: The Nanny Diairies
Review: A great light-hearted read! I have been a preschool teacher for years and was a nanny in college, I could relate to too much of this book! It was VERY funny and entertaining!
