Summary: I loved it
Review: This book gave me a new view of modern day novels. This book is an excellant addition to anyone's library. This book a The Lovely Bones, and Dreams: Gateway to the True Self are very powerful books. They are well worth your time and exploration.

Summary: ME
Review: This book really kept my attention, a definite quick read. It really made you feel like you were taking care of the kid and it brought back some good memories of babysitting.

Summary: Better then I thought
Review: I loved this book. It was thoroughly entertaining, a bit poignant and more then a bit shocking. I will never be able to walk the upper east side of Manhattan without thinking about this book. These two women are great story tellers. They should think about writing some more books.

Summary: Great Book--Disappointing Ending
Review: I am a chicklit fiend and saw that this had been on the bestseller list for a while. The story is excellent and the pace is fast. Until I finished the book I couldn't say enough good things.

But the ending ruined it for me. It absolutely infuriated me. The 5 stars do not include the last 30 pages.

Summary: Terrible
Review: A disappointment all around. I had to force myself to trudge through it, and it wasn't even a lengthy read. Weak characters, boring plot. Unsubstantial!...

Summary: For anyone who has had a nanny!
Review: It is terrific to see the other side! Having had nannies for years, it is interesting to see someone describe the employer. This poor character has experiences with people that should not be parents. I enjoyed seeing the ultimate nanny - making choices that are best for the child, sometimes at the expense of the nanny. This is funny and sad and a thought provoker.

Cheers to the authors!

Summary: A staggering achievement, brilliantly enjoyable...
Review: An 'entertainment' in the highest sense of that much-exploited word, a surreal hallucinatory feast. Their inventiveness never flags. Two of the very few current writers whose works are attempts at the greater Bible, the 'bright book of life.'

Summary: One of my all time favorites!
Review: Now that was a good book. I read the entire book in one sitting. Although the authors say this book is fiction, when really it's based on their days as nannies. It's disheartening to think that there are people out there like Mr. & Mrs. X. Horrible people. And you wonder why kids turn out poorly. One thing that made me really mad... Earmuffs. Those of you who read it know exactly what I mean.
This book is for anyone. I have nothing but great things to say about this book.

Summary: True story?
Review: This book could also be aptly titled "Adventures of a 21st Century Nanny." It's a fun read about a young college student, working her way through school as a nanny to a wealthy couple's son. From disasterous play dates to the cell phone that just won't stop ringing, you will sympathize with Nanny's plight- but not without a chuckle. Two former nannies wrote this book, and I get the feeling that although the book is a work of fiction, the characters might actually be a composite of some of the families they worked with. The family portrayed in this book is over-the-top in their wealth and behavior, but not unbelieveably so. Overall this is a very entertaining read- especially if you've had one of those student jobs where you felt completely overwhelmed and underappreciated.

Summary: Outrageous behavior made my stomach turn
Review: "The Nanny Diaries" paints a sad picture of how the upper crust raise their children. As the reader, I felt sorry for Nanny, being used and abused by Mrs. X, though I wanted her so badly to stand up for herself and say, enough is enough already and for heavens sake, pay attention to your son already! I also felt sorry for poor Grayer, the child who was all but abandoned by his parents. All he ever wanted were his parents, but they were so busy with their petty adult lives, they couldn't have cared less. The mild revenge Nanny gets at the end, though, isn't enough. I know the Xes won't get the message, and Grayer will just have to get whatever love he can from yet another nanny, who will no doubt be taken advantage of until she dares to speak up..

The writing style is a little spare; I could have used more description and a sense of feeling. In any case, though, I definitely appreciate my own children a lot more now!
