Summary: seriously depressing and demeaning....
Review: I really thought this was going to be a great book I'd enjoy. It was so incredibly frustrating and depressing. The main character is so willing to sacrifice her happiness for this family, that abuses her and doesn't even appreciate her hard work. All they do is demand more and treat her like a slave! It makes you feel like shaking her and saying "wake-up! why are you putting up with this?" Reading the book, you just think - she will finally snap and stand up for herself, but she doesn't! Reading about the parents completly disfunctional relationship with each other and complete lack of relationship with their son, is really very sad.

I did not find this book funny, I found it infuriating and depressing... Save your time and read something else - anything else!

Summary: Overrated
Review: This book has been on my "reading list" for ages, but always "out" at the library. I seldom buy books, but spend much time at libraries. I finally purchased it at 30 percent off, and couldn't wait to read it. I am a prolific reader, and read all subjects, all authors. This book is just stupid, stupid, stupid. I am extremely disappointed. Sorry I wasted my money!

Summary: A Gripping Book
Review: I read The Nanny Diaries in one day. I absolutely loved it. The satirical way this book was written had me hooked from just reading the back cover. I do not understand why some people hate this book so much. This book was not meant to be fine literature, just a light read that gave insight into the lives of the extremely wealthy by former nannies themselves. As for Nanny being spineless, I could see how she would in fact hold out from telling Mrs. X off and leaving in hopes of somehow breaking through to her and Mr. X and making them seem how they were neglecting their son. It was also quite evident that Nanny realized that Grayer would go through more psychological damage is she suddenly left him as well. Though written on a serious topic, this book has many funny scenes in it and this, along with the anticipation of the next unbelievable stunt Mrs. X will pull, will captivate and grip you.

Summary: lame & RIDICULOUSLY overrated
Review: i cannot believe this book has gotten such positive reviews, because to me it is one of the most contrived, shallow, unpolished novels i've ever read in my life. the writing style is terrible, the characters are not well-developed, and the plotline is all over the place. not to mention the whole anonymous name thing ("nanny," "mr. & mrs. x," "h.h.") gets old REAL quick. nanny, the main character, is annoying, spineless, shallow, and pretentious almost beyond belief. i can't stress this enough, it is NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Summary: Good Book
Review: This was a good read. It kept my interest all the way through. I couldn't wait to see what the boss lady would say or do next. It's amazing how clueless she was. I though that the ending was a little sad though....

Summary: Great!
Review: Wonderful on the whole but the non-true names, Nanny, Mr & Mrs X, Ms Chicago, do spoil a litte....making it less realistic i must say

Summary: Emotions to a climax but no outlet
Review: The whole book you get madder and madder and you can't wait till she lets them have it. Well, still waiting. I suppose the book is the "letting them have it" but not good enough for me. It built my emotions and left me angrier than ever. Its not funny its sad

Summary: There should be a sequel for Nanny and H.H.
Review: I loved this book. I couldn't believe what all she put up, However as a nanny myself, I wasn't suprised. I felt so sorry for Grayer. Especially when Mrs. X wouldn't let Nanny go to Grayer at the end. That would screw up any child for a very long time. Anyway, the only thing I didn't like was that we never say H.H. again, There needs to be a sequel that picks up exactly where it left off, with H.H. consoling Nanny. In conclusin, It was awesome, finished it in a day and a half.

Summary: Wonderful book
Review: This is a wonderful book. It manages to be bitterly funny and quite sad at the same time. I couldn't put it down. The writing is really very good. I don't think I have ever read a book in which a child's personality was done so well.

And as a parent, it gave me pause to question my own parenting skills.
