Summary: Dust Taylorville
Review: Dust to Dust was a sometimes confusing book that starts out with a cop that they think has comitted suicide. Because he is a cop they wan't to investigate into the situation. as the story went on there was another cop killed and murders. The story in my opinion was very scrambled and at times was hard to stay with. As they investigate they look into other murders to get clues of the one they are working on. Then toward the end there is a girl that they are tring to stop from killing herself and it seems that it is just kind of out of place. If i was to recamend a book this book would be more toward the don't read section. I don't recamend this book for especially younger children than me.

Summary: David on Murder Is A Mystery
Review: Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are two detectives that are out to find a killer. Mike Fallon hs been killed and they want to get to the point of the murder. The strange thing is that Mikes son Andy has strangely been killed some how so now we have two murders that are unexplained. Little do they now that the killer could be on of there own on the team or maybe just a sick serial killer. The scary thing is this killer who is killing is very gruesome he will stop at no limit. The book is a good action packed theme that will have you wondering who the true killer or killers really are and the strange story behind this plot of bad cops.

Summary: Dust to Dust-To Ashes
Review: Dust to Dust by Tami Hoag was in some aspects enjoyable and in many aspects not. For instance, the main characters were in their ways likeable. They had many qualities which were endearing to the reader, sometimes a toughness and independence that carried them through the difficult homicide investigation, and in other times a tenderness that made the reader relate to their life outside the job. However, there was a lot of dialogue containing sexual jokes and language content that was in many ways inappropriate for people of any moral belief to read.

The mystery was well developed, and kept the reader on the edge of the seat, but I think the ending could have been a bit different, and thus better. I won't give away the ending, for the sake of those future readers who decide to review Dust to Dust in spite of reading bad reviews. However, I will say that future readers would be wise not to get too attached to any of the main characters in the story, and also should be very mindful of their stomachs while reading of the graphic details...

Tami Hoag shows a great ability in the detail she included in this work and the complexity of murder investigations. She shows insight into the workings of people's minds in stressful situations. However, there was still some content that I think should have been caught in final editing to protect the general audience.

Summary: In all honesty...
Review: I am an avid reader and I have read almost every type of book there is so I do know a little about these types of books.
Here we go...while the basic idea and plot line is well thought out the only action we get is a couple of fist fights, bullets flying, and a swim through a frozen lake. Basiclly all it is is talk and personally I would have skipped the first 32 chapters(there are like 34 or 35) So I guess if you like boring, ocasional excitment, and well if ya like to figure the book out before the auther reveals the ending then by all means read it but if your looking for something a little more exciting read anything else but this. Hey it's only my opinion.

Summary: First non-formulaic Hoag book
Review: It's odd -- the people who don't like this book, or thought it is sub-par Hoag -- seem to think it is formulaic. I thought it's her best yet for the exact opposite reason -- it isn't secondarily about the gradual magnetism of wary woman and impenetrable man who eventually wind up in each others' arms. Hoag's Det. Sam Kovac is a midwestern version of Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch (a high compliment, in my opinion). Sure, there's the Hoag trademark man-woman tension, but this book is more about the police case(s) than the romance(s), which are included as portals to the characters' lives and motivations instead of a parallel plot line for its own sake. Till now, I've considered Hoag 'light reading' while waiting for the new Sandford, Connelley, Parker or Patterson. This one stacks up.

Summary: I like the audio because i drive a long way to work.
Review: I LIKE IT BECAUSE IT HAD A WOMEN AND A MAN TALKING. AND I LIKED IT ALSO BECAUSE OF THE CHARACTER THE COP. IT WAS SO REAL MY BROTHER IS A COP AND IT FIT HIM TO A TEE. I HOPE THIS CHARACTER IS IN MORE OF HER BOOKS I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF TAMI'S BOOKS. I ALSO LIKE HOW SHE LINKS HER CHARACTERS FROM OTHER BOOKS SHE HAS WROTE.

Summary: strikes home yet again
Review: Tami Hoag really does amaze me. Whatever she turns her hand to, she suceeds, and proves she can do better even than the people who have been doing it for years. With Her early romances, Lucky's Lady, Magic, and Sarah's Sin, she proved she could write stuning, gripping, realistic, heart tugging romance stories. THen, with Still Waters she proved she could write excellent detective type novels, with great plots, great characters, and great unexpected solutions. With Dark Paradise she proved she could write a simple story in a compelling way, with deadly accurate psychology, creating suspense along with a thriller and great character. With Cry Wolf she proved she could mix the genres of romance and thriller better than anyone else, and came up with one of the best books ever. With Night Sins she proved she could write chilling, disturbing, accurate, realistic, and frightening psychological thrillers. With Guilty As Sin she proved she could write a legal thriller much better than John Grisham was ever able to. It was a superb book, full of tenseion, great characters. With A Thin Dark Line she returned again to something more like Still Waters crossed with Dark Paradise. A seemingly simple serial killer novel, with what was reminiscent of a detective story type solution. With Ashes to Ashes she proved she could come up with stunning serial killer novels, better than Cornwell, better than Thomas Harris. And with Dust to Dust she proves conclusively she can write a really compelling police procedural better than i have ever read by the so called "pros". Can she fail in ANYTHING?

Her writing is stunning. Really lyrical, really descriptive. A joy to read. her characters are really comelling, really well-rounded and fully develoeped. Their relationships and personalities are interesting and realistic. There were times in this book when i was moved to tears, especially at the end. You really really feel so so sorry for Kovac, as he is a very good person at heart, and for Amanda Savard who was a troubled person trying her best to do the right thing, and not really knowing what it was. their relationship is possibly the best Hoag has written of.

THis is a very well written police procedural thriller, which i sometimes find a boring. however, this one, no way. It's a very hard-boiled book, but you feel that it was simmered first. it is more subtle, and more well constructed. It's a very macho book, whcih surprises me for Hoag being a female, and only serves to increse my belief that she can do anything she turns her hand to. The initial mystery is one which is not all that original (apparent suicides which later turn out to be murder are rife in the world of fiction) however, this one soon becomes something very different, and so much more. Hoag's characters are great, comoelling, especially Tinks Liska. the way she acts very masculine, a after effect of her trying to fit into the almost all male world of police officers is very realistic, and very interesting. Tinks Links is one of her best lead female characters ever.

the end solution is really clever, really clever, and much more complicated that the plot woudl first suggest. Hoag's books are wonderful, and this one is no exception.

Summary: Not her bailiwick
Review: While the basic plot is solid, for some reason the author seems to have been (uncharacteristically) aiming for gritty, super-hard-boiled characters in this book, so much so that it interferes with the telling of the tale. For example, several characters' smoking habits are covered in excruciating detail, and Sam and Nikki have such jaded world views that you almost stop pulling for them, and retreat to the role of observer instead of participant in the story. In other words, Ms. Hoag's usual sense of humor is conspicuously absent in this one, and I ended the book feeling depressed and let down.

Summary: Un-put-downable
Review: Tami Hoag's Dust to Dust is a beautifully crafted whodunnit that will keep you at the edge of your seat. I especially enjoyed this aspect of the book. Its like an episode of Homicide:Life on the Street but better. This book, more than her previous books, lets us in to the minds and lives of the policemen and women. The end doesn't seem to matter after a while - the suspense of figuring it all out is enough somehow. But the conclusion does come - and it's certainly a mindblower.

Summary: Page Turner Alert!
Review: My first Hoag reading, and I am impressed to say the least. If I had to guess, I'd say the author was somewhat cold and bitter, but this enables her to provide us with characters that are real. The conclusion was a little over the top, but it doesn't take away from the book as a whole. Hoag is an intelligent writer, and perhaps more than the plot I enjoyed her style. When you read this book, you are seeing what America is today politically & morally. The only difference being the good guys arn't winning.
