Rating: Summary: No sleep after this one........goodnight!!!!!! Review: In college I used "No-Doze" to stay awake for those "all-nighters". Now I just read Thomas Harris and I can't sleep. Okay, I can sleep....with the light on.....and the security system on....and the covers over my head.....and the security guard out in front. I love James Patterson and can now finally see who he probably enjoyed reading in his formative years. Francis Dolarhyde is a freak of nature. Harris' childhood background on Dolarhyde was in-depth and necessary. With that upbringing, who wouldn't become a homicidal maniac. Gripping!!!!! This is my first Harris read. I now plan on buying "Silence of the Lambs". I probably won't read it....because sleep is important to me. Well...maybe just a peek!
Rating: Summary: The best crime/serial killer book--- ever Review: I've read many of this type before and many since.Red Dragon is the ultimate thriller. The Red Dragon is such a hideous villian you'll be amazed that halfway through the book he is the one person you have sympathy for,a truly heartbreaking character. Also,be sure to see "Manhunter",the movie based on the book.
Rating: Summary: Never underestimate the power of The Dragon! Review: Harris brings forth yet another heart-stopping novel. From the best selling author of, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, this one is sure to have you begging for more. Will Graham, a retired FBI agent, is lured back into the job, when the crime hits a little too close to home. The Infamous Hannibal Lecter is back again, with some bone chilling advice for the detective. The Red Dragon, known by his peers as, Francis Dolarhyde, is a serial killer. One that thrives on the perfection of his killings. Dolarhyde kills only happy families whom he deems "not worthy."
An Excellent portrayal of Characters brought forth by Harris.
Two Thumbs Up!!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down! Review: I'm totally into the psychological suspense, and this book didn't disappoint me. I would really love it if Thomas Harris would write another Hannibal Lecter novel, as I already read both the novels he's already done.
Rating: Summary: Harris's best Review: This book has the best discovery scene I've ever read--that moment when the detective notices an overlooked similarity between two crime scenes and understands its significance. The scene is hushed, rapt, and real.
"Red Dragon" also has the best development of an abnormal character I've read. The killer comes from a plausibly rotten family, and his pathology grows by accretion. He aquires an obsession with teeth when he serves in the military; later he happens upon a drawing by William Blake and is galvanized. He puts the teeth and the drawing together, absorbs some Blakeian mysticism, and comes up with his killer persona. Like most readers of the genre, I dislike the flashbacks and the earnest psychologizing that slow a book down. But in "Red Dragon" the flashbacks are far from routine, and the psychologizing is full of incident. Harris knows better than all but a few other writers how to create a madman.
Rating: Summary: Heart Pounding Thriller Review: Red Dragon brings a killer to life and into your home. A rampt psycho killer is out there being controled by another force. He must fulfill his duty and "Become." The retired Will Graham is brought out of retirement to look into the mind of this psychopath and the killer is urged on more by the publicity he recives. Readers beware, this book is not for the light hearted
Rating: Summary: You'll eat it up like Hannibal Lecter Review: This book presents you with awesome characters and a plot with more twist than one might think possible. With his amazing skill as a writer Harris takes into the eyes of botha serial killer and the perceptive cop on his tail, and just when you think it's over..
Rating: Summary: Sticky fingers? Review: A truly unique way to use crazy glue. Complete instructions included..
Rating: Summary: Gripping Review: This is, in my opinion, the definitive crime novel.
Harris places the reader directly into the action - the
twisted mind of a killer and the tormented detective
on his trail. Will Graham must track down the Red Dragon,
a serial killer who murders entire families, before he strikes again, all while Graham must come to grips with his
own situation, and seek help from the man who almost ended
Graham's life - Dr. Hannible Lector. A great read.
