Summary: Frightening and releastic; a masterpiece thriller
Review: You've heard of "The Silence of the Lambs". You've heard of "Hannibal". But how did it all begin? "Red Dragon" is the answer. A detective tries to crack the case of a murderer on the loose with some help from Hannibal Lecter, whom he had imprisoned years before. Frightening and realistic; one of my favorite novels. "Red Dragon" is just as good if not better than it's followers; it's a masterpiece thriller.

Summary: Pretty Damn Good.
Review: This is the book that started it all for Hannibal and another great novel by Harris. Just like the rest of the series, Harris brings the story to life and sometimes it might mess with your mind, but that all depends on the person, right? The only complaints I had, was that the ending wasn't all that great and I want Harris to put out a new book, one that explains about the events before this one, that we sadly only get a bit of a glimpse at. Still though, I would recomend this book to anyone.

Summary: Could not put it down
Review: This book was so remarkable! The graphic detail made me feel as if I were viewing the crime scene in person. The background on Francis Dolarhyde, alter-ego of The Dragon, was so well-written I actually found myself feeling sorry for the character! Thomas Harris does a fabulous job with the relationships of the characters with one another. And, is it just me, or can any other reader's pick up on Hannibal Lecter's smug persona? I can see him in his cell, reading his books and writing unwanted letters to Will Graham. The ending is a bit disappointing, but the book as a whole is great!

Summary: My favoritest read
Review: I loved it. I read Steven King because of the way he decribes his characters, I didn't realize until this book, that Harris is equally as gifted. I could see and smell Will, and Dollarhide, they were developed masterfully. Unfotunatly, i haven't found a book that holds my interest since i finished it. It was wonderful!

Summary: poignant and disturbing
Review: "Red Dragon" was the first book of this genre that I've read and it won't be the last. I liked how Harris focused on the killer but at the same time he balanced things well by incorporating police procedure and the process of profiling the killer into the story. I think it was really neat how clues emerged as the story progressed. I found this book hard to put down mainly because there were so many unanswered questions regarding the killer. Even after more information is revealed, the story opens up all kinds of possibilities. It kept me guessing until the very end.

Summary: Incredible, Thrilling, and very very well written.
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read in my life. I loved it from the first page to the last. This is the first book in the Hannibal Lecter Trillogy and by far the best also.

In this book we follow Will Graham, The famous FBI agent that captured Hannibal Lecter. Will has retired to a home in Florida with is wife and step son when he is summoned to help with a murder case where a man is killing whole families in the southeast areas. Graham decides that to get into a killers mind, he has to talk to one himself. So he returns to his old enemy Hannibal Lecter to help him. But is that what Lecter is planning to do??

Not only do we deal with Lecter in this thriling book, but we also search high and low through ghastly crime scenes of slaughtered families to find clues of this killer. In the end, you will be shocked by more than just the killer, but the way he chose his victims and much much more.

This book gets 5 stars. If I could put more stars down I would. You will not put it down. I read this awesome book in 2 days, and this is not a short book. So let that show you how good it is. READ IT.

Summary: Red Dragon
Review: Red Dragon is a book that I can honestly say is one of the best books I've ever read. It's written well and also has a good plot. Not only is it a thrilling book, but also some what of a mystery. I like the way he introduces the killer as a normal person at first. At the end he is portrayed as a psychopath. Through the book he is arogant and thinks he is very superior, yet is still submissive to a figment of his own imagination. The character Hannibal Lecter is very interesting and is written about well. He has to be my favorite due to his complexity and the fact that he is a normal, pleasant person while still being a calculating sociopath. Another writer would have made him the killer, but Harris places him elsewhere and makes him still a very important and memorable character. This a very good book and it deserves a five star rating.

Summary: The Beginning Of The Madness
Review: I read this book in hard cover well over 20 years ago. It never left me. Lechter left an indelible mark on my mind. His role in this first installment was so small, yet it propelled the storyline along. When "Silence of the Lambs" came out, I had to, of course, read that one, followed by a rereading of "Red Dragon". The insanity and genius of Dr. Lechter is so obvious from the first introduction of his character by Thomas Harris. A true classic without the excessive gore which deserves many rereads!

Summary: WOW!!!!!
Review: I've never read a book that was as disgusting as Red Dragon. Thomas Harris is a GENIOUS! Using a combination of plot twists and new character introductions throughout the book he has created a masterpiece. In this book it is up to one person to catch the "Tooth Fairy". It is a tough task to complete but he will do anything and everything to make itt a success. In my opinion this is the best installment in the "Hannibal the Cannibal" series, and one of the best books I've ever read. I would reccommend this book to anyone who likes books that send chills up your spine and make you want to keep reading. I gave this book Five out of Five stars.

Summary: A most terrifying thriller....
Review: Our darkest fears come to life in this riveting novel as we follow the case of the "Tooth Fairy," a serial killer on the loose who targets suburbian families as his victims. Will Graham, an FBI agent assigned to the case because of his unique ability to break inside the head of the killer, enlists the help of Hannibal Lecter, the criminally insane and exceptionally brilliant killer we met in Silence of the Lambs (incidently, this novel precedes that novel and film).

If you want to be thrilled, this book will not disappoint. It scares and even shocks you from the moment you pick it up to the moment you turn the last page. It also brings in quite a bit of forensic science, which is always fascinating (remember this was written long before the days of CSI). As a result, the book offers a very straight-forward approach to story telling, which is all this novel really needs. Thomas Harris is brave enough to even break inside the head of the killer himself, which is strangely reminiscent of Will Graham's relationship to the killer. Though in many cases, the approach of getting closer to the killer can ruin the suspense and mystery, it pans out surprisingly well in this novel, as we ourselves get into the head of the killer (at times, it feels like it's more than you can take). But then I suppose we must remind ourselves that Thomas Harris is the man who created Hannibal Lecter, one of the most terrifying characters in literary and film history.

Harris also explores the relationship between killer and killer, cop and cop, and more interestingly, cop and killer, which demonstrates that the line between the two is sometimes blurred. This is one of many unsettling ideas Harris introduces in the novel - which causes us to really question how black and white the difference between good and evil really is.

I highly recommend this book - you will be entertained all throughout. However, reading this at night is not recommended if you scare easily!
