Rating: Summary: A very good book, I look foreward to seeing the Movie Review: This is a very good book. Harris offers a good insight into the mind of a serial killer, including a glimpse of the forces which transformed a disfigured boy with a traumatic childhood into a perverted killer. This book reads very well although the descriptions of the characters are a little vague. Having said that I felt that Harris's insight into Dolarhyde's world was excellent. I realised what distorted his view of the world so much that his personality split. Part of him was still Francis Dolarhyde, a tortured soul who never new what it was to be loved. The other part was the red dragon, a heartless murderer who killed whole families in a calculated and ritualistic way. The inner conflict dolarhyde experienced when he found that someone could love him afterall almost made it seem as if Dolarhyde was struggling with the dragon for control of his mind. However, the ending reveals how Dolarhyde and the dragon were a single entity all along. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read, although some parts of this book can be disturbing. I have chosen to give ths book four stars, I had difficulty putting it down but when I finished it I didn't think 'Hey that was AWESOME' as I would if this were a five star book.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: If you want to find out what real horror is, read Thomas Harris's RED DRAGON!
Rating: Summary: I have a ? about the book Review: We have been trying to find the movie Red Dragon, does one exist? Thank
Rating: Summary: show of evil Review: the best psychothriller i've read so far. the first by the author. martin vail and aaron stampler make a very good combination together with flaherty and venables.the author has succeeded in leaving questions marks trailing at the back of my head as i keep engrossing myself in the story. though i have not yet read primal fear or show of evil, i'm sure they would give me the same impact as did show of evil.
Rating: Summary: Red Dragon Review: I wish I could read this book for the first time again. The first of the Hannibal Lecter trilogy, 'Red Dragon' is a triumph in suspense/thriller writing. It's a book that doesn't ask you for your attention--it grabs it and doesn't let go.
Rating: Summary: Masterpeice Review: Thomas Harris takes readers into the twisted world of Francis Dolarhyde, a killer better known as the Red Dragon. The man searching for him is William Graham, the man who brought Dr. Hannibal Lector into custody. Graham has to find Dolarhyde before another family is sacrificed to the Red Dragon. Graham's work is put in jeopardy by Hannibal Lector, who is supplying Dolarhyde with information. Excellent work, it draws you in, Harris is a genius.
Rating: Summary: I liked it. Review: Definitely worth reading if you're into this type of stuff
Rating: Summary: Buy it, read it, then share it with a twisted friend! Review: I read Red Dragon more than a decade ago and it still gives me the creeps when I think about it. The book is a good read; you can't put it down, but you're afraid to pick it up. You'll not soon forget the illustrious Mr. Dolaryhyde and what he and other psychopaths are capable of.
Rating: Summary: So, who's developing YOUR film... Review: Have decided to read all the books by Harris depicting Hannibal Lechter. Starting in chronological order I found this book to be better than the movie version of "Silence." and infinitely better than the movie version of the book, "Manhunter." The ending in the book is much more creative than the movie. I thought it was creative to have the psychopath be a film developer. It got me thinking about how much strangers have access to your personal affairs. Who knows who's developing your pictures? Anyone could figure out where you live, and know some personal things about you. It's the mark of a good psycho thriller if it creeps into your conscious in everyday life! Makes you want to beware of having getting pictures developed, having food delivered, getting your taxes done... anything that would give some psychopath access to your life...
Rating: Summary: Simply Great Review: I have not read many other stories that flowed as effortlessly as this one did. Complex characters easily understood, interesting and realisitcly easy to relate too. You actually feel like your watching the story unfold, gripping you page by page like a televised slow speed chase. You just can't put it down like you don't want to change the channel. Even though you already know who's in the white Bronco. It 's that good.
