Summary: worth the trip
Review: I found the book to be inspiring even for a man. Jewel chases her dream to stardom, not to be famous but to do what she loves, sing and write. I really enjoyed little bits about the spirt tour insights. My best friend played drums on the tour and I really feel like she explains in detail so well that you will honestly find yourself right there with her. Not a bad book for a rock star.

Summary: True Inspiration
Review: I have always admired Jewel, but after reading this book, I am aware that she had an amazing struggle to get where she is today. I truly admire her now, for being such a strong young woman. By reading the book, I can picture what she was feeling at the time and I can imagine how she longed for personal time away to sit and think and write, because i have often felt that myself. And I found myself having ahuge inspiration for writing my own poetry, which I have become very interested in lately. And she helped me to discover my inner strengths. I reccomend this book to anyone who loves Jewel, or is just looking for some uplifting of the spirit. Also check out Jewel's CDs too! :)

Summary: Showing She's Only Human...
Review: I have just recently finished this book; I think it is just amazing how a person can choose to be so open and honest about the positives and the negatives in their life. I found that in reading this book, it is still possible to allow yourself to be so open and vulnerable and to know some people will respond in the same fashion. Jewel seems to tell all in this book and there was one part in particular that even surprised me- read it and find out.There still is the presence of good and uplifting forces in this world but one needs to look a little harder and deeper... Jewel gives off a sense of security and a feeling like she knows she isn't alone like a kindred spirit. It is books like "Chasing Down the Dawn that let you know there is a real and truthful account of life in her own words out there to be read.

Summary: I Couldn't Put This Book Down!
Review: I put this book in my bag and started looking at the pictures on the train on the way to work yesterday. So the pictures sparked my curiousity and I started reading it on the way in to work, then during lunch. Well, I was hooked! I got home from work and finished reading it last night! The book jumps around from gigs to childhood memories. But the writing is so descriptive, that I felt I was there. I was able to imagine living in a cabin in the middle of a harsh Alaskan winter. I was able to imagine the bus ride to Mexico. I could feel her pain from the divorce and the death of her best friend. I loved it!

Review: I'm sorry if my English is not as good as yours, I'm from Germany, but I have the english version of this premium book.
If you don't know Jewel I'd rather say you: don't buy this book. It describes Jewels life on tour, her homeland, Alaska. It's not as cold as many people think, it's a nice, natural piece of earth, at reading it I fall in love with it a little.
In this book there are some very nice pics of her family (all seems to be cowboys) and Alaska.
It also describes the bad sides of her life. For example what happened to her teenage love, I had to read it again to be sure. Or the lose of her best friend Jacqui, which had a explanation of the religions of the world that is the best I ever heard.
There are too some paintings of Jewel that are pretty sweet. It's good that you have the original version of her books. I have the book "A night without armour" in a version English, german. And that's sometimes really bad translated. If you really want to know something about Jewel BUY IT!
And if you think: Great woman, forget it! Her boyfriend is a rodeochamp.

Review: Jewel yet again gives both disappointment and disgust to any and all with taste in literature in this horrible book. The trite, cliche phraseology is to be expected after her first piece of garbage, but in novel form it is a good deal more pungeunt. On the plus side, however, she is hot.

Summary: Honest and Intriguing
Review: Jewel's book is intriguing, original, well written and above all very sincere. She is definitely a good writer, especially when it comes to storytelling, but when she tries too hard she can be a little too wordy. The best parts of this book are the frank accounts of the odd things she's experienced in her life (both before and after fame). The weak links come in the form of analytical passages that don't centre around storytelling. I think this is true in her songwriting. Fortunately, those passages are relatively few and far between, and for the most part she illustrates her ideas about life beautifully through storytelling. Overall, it's an interesting read and a must-see for any Jewel fan.

Review: Just like a telephone conversation would do, I felt this book communicated directly and honestly to me as the reader. Jewel's writings read like a letter from a friend, as she shares her joys and worries with honesty and passion. Colorful stories from her youth in Alaska and California effectively dim the stage lights and we see her in a simpler, clearer light. Jewel candidly talks about how her family, fame, and experiences have helped make her who she is and what it feels like to sing from her soul.

Review: Let me tell you this first. I am a huge Jewel fan. But to put it lightly i really did not care for her last book. When I went to the bookstore to purchase this book I was questioning my motives for buying it. I started to look through it before I bought it and decided it looked OK and there were some cool pictures and drawings so I decided to buy it. Well much to my surprise it is amazing. I love it. Jewel captures so much emotion in her words. She describes the memories of here childhood in Alaska with such beauty that I now want to go on vacation there. She also writes about here experiences with crazed fans and the feeling she gets before, during, and after concerts. There are even some very funny moments in the book. It is somewhat of an autobiography but more a glimpse into the mind of a very talented and deep thinking artist. A++++ I recomend this book if you are a fan of Jewel's or not. Go buy it even if you did not like the last one as I did not. You will not be let down!
