Rating: Summary: Detailed and insightful! Review: During the time covered in this book I worked as a federal law enforcement officer with an office at the Byrne Courthouse at 6th & Market Streets in Philadelphia, PA. I worked with most of the agencies mentioned by the author and I found the book gave me even more information than I already knew. The author really painted a portrait that makes one want to empathize even more with the Fahey family and her once hoped-to-be husband Mike. What a great piece of research and writing.
Rating: Summary: This is one of my favorite true crime books of all time. Review: Even though I reside in the general area where this took place and was constantly reading articles and watching newscasts on this story, I was still amazed at all the new information provided by Ann Rule. She gives a personal insight into the feelings of Anne Marie Fahey and Debbie MacIntire. Many cheers for Debbie for overcoming this mad man's control.
Rating: Summary: A TRULY GREAT BOOK...UNABLE TO PUT IT DOWN FOR VERY LONG Review: I FOLLOWED THIS CASE FROM DAY 1 AND THIS BOOK WENT SO MUCH DEEPER THAN THE MEDIA COVERAGE THAT WE WERE ALL INUNDATED WITH. I WAS LIVING IN THE AREA AT THE TIME AND SINCE MOVED TO FLORIDA, AND THIS BOOK MADE THE STORY COMPLETE FOR ME. ANN WAS ABLE TO GIVE TRUE LIFE TO ANN MARIE AND MADE HER READERS FEEL AS IF WE KNEW HER. I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ESPECIALLY TO ANYONE LIVING IN THE DELAWARE,PENNSYLVANIA, NEW JERSEY AREA.
Rating: Summary: This is a big ole goose egg of a book Review: This wasn't very good and I wish I hadn't spent any money on it. I'm only writing this to warn off objective readers. I know Ms. Rule has legions of fans and they'll probably buy anything she writes. But the rest of us shouldn't be suckered in by the shallow ruminations redundantly deposited on the pages of this book. Buy Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" if you want real good true crime - don't accept any substitutes
Rating: Summary: Ann Marie's vulnerability when confronted by Tom Capano Review: Ann Rule's book, "And Never Let Her Go" is an insightful, absorbing, true story of a lovely young and vulnerable woman who was caught up in a relationship with a man who had a horrible dark side, which Ann Marie didn't see or comprehend until it was too late. This true story should touch every woman because we have experienced some of what she experienced, haven't we? Ann Rule's carefully documented story get you totally involved in all of the characters--the family members of Ann Marie Fahey, and those of Tom Capano. Ann Rule has a gift of presenting us with not just the facts, but the interaction and dedication of Ann Marie's family and the attempt of Capano's family to come through this ordeal. Ann Rule gets to the very "soul" of the story, and thus she truly touches us in a very special way.
Rating: Summary: An excellent and exciting book! Review: I couldn't put this book down. An absolute page turner that goes delves into the minds of both the murderer and victim(s). At then end, I felt I had an understanding of the players involved because of the way the author wove the psyche of the individual and the actions that they took. The author has a clear understanding of human nature and that helps immensely in making the book one that I couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Incredible story and masterful writing! Review: And Never Let Her Go is a masterpiece! Being from Md., I had followed a lot of the story from the papers. My initial reaction to the book coming out was 'Gee, I already know the story and the outcome, hope I'm not bored.' Bored was the last thing I was. Ahead of that was fascinated, in awe of Ann's writing skills, etc. She weaves a wonderful story and managed to unearth much more information than the media published during the trial.Stongly recommend this read!
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I enjoyed this book. It's much better than Above the Law & not quite as good as Fatal Embrace.
Rating: Summary: Ann Rule's very best in story development, description. Review: Having read all of Ann Rule's books, watched her development, can truly say this is her crowning achievement. She has mastered the descriptive art, the ability to place you, the reader, right in the center of the action. Could not put this book down once started: also became personally involved and empathetic with the victim and family. We loved Never Let Her Go!
Rating: Summary: Spellbinding Review: Ann Rule has taken a wealth of material and created a gripping and tragic tale of true crime. A "can't put down" kind of book whose characters jump out at you . . . a true-life Greek tragedy. May Anne Marie rest in peace.
