Summary: The very best action, thriller ever written.
Review: Until I read this book I had never really read anything in this genre. Since then, two years ago, I've read everything even remotely like it that I could get my hands on and I can tell you with all honesty that I believe "Vertical Run" must be the best novel of its type ever written. It will take your breath away and knock you socks off. You will feel like you are "running" right along side the character and you'll swear you hear footsteps coming up behind you. (You should also check out the audio version read by Stephen Lang. Perfection!)

Summary: Non-stop action
Review: You know, it was about two years ago that I read this book. Having lost it, I've been looking around my local bookstores for it so I can go through it again!

It was, without doubt, a hugely entertaining read.

I usually find it very difficult to finish books, losing interest about half-way through, but I had this one licked in a couple of days.

Summary: Good start, bad follow-through, horrible ending.
Review: This book starts out with a bang as the hero's boss strolls into his office and tries to kill him for no reason. However, the plot quickly goes downhill through a series of ridiculous action sequences, lame dialogue, boring office descriptions, and lousy Vietnam flashbacks. This book is told in the third-person, yet it never leaves the main character, eliminating any opportunity for character development besides his. The pointless office descriptions are a lame excuse by the author to brag of how much he knows about corporate America. The main villan was a wuss and the other uninteresting characters sucked. The ending was very anticlimactic and several plot threads were left dangling. I normally like books with a lot of action but this one reeked! I burned it.

Summary: Non-stop action, believable charecters, brilliantly written
Review: This book is awesome. The narative is of the edge-of-the-seat-can't-put-it-down variety. Although it certainly qualifies as an action thriller, I was most impressed with the charecter development. He was portrayed so realistically that he never came off as a "James Bond" type of hero.

I actually read this book twice. The first time was just for the sheer pleasure of it. The second time was to analyze the writing style of the author. If ever I actually get around to writing that much fantasized novel of mine, I figured that I could learn a few lessons by analyzing how Joseph Garber constructed this book. Just read it!

Summary: Fabulous
Review: I listened to this book on tape. The story design which included the hero's current situation and the flashbacks was effective. The plot was not as predictable as others of it's type. I found myself writing this review as I was looking for other books by this author. The book would make an excellent movie. I hope Mr. Garber writes a sequel.

Summary: Die Hard revisited?!?!?!
Review: When a high profile movie such as Die Hard comes out, about terrorist taking over a skyscraper, and the author; Joseph Garber comes up with story about a man trapped in a building with terrorists types what's the big deal? That's not original. Anyone can take a movie change it a little and take credit as original. Give me a break, write about something original and stay away from high profile movies. What's next the hero Dave Elliott will land on a train and the same bad guys will trap him there!?!?!

Summary: I'd rather read the back of a shampoo bottle
Review: This was without doubt the worst book I have ever read. The narration grates in a way that I cannot even describe. It's the unholy cousin of Die Hard without the wit. To be avoided at all costs. Trust me.

Summary: AWESOME
Review: Simply put, this book is awesome. It combines all the best elements of a thriller with vivid and sympathetic (and not so sympathetic) characters. Prepare yourself to lose some sleep!

Summary: IF YOU LIKE ACTION, AND MORE ACTION, LOOK NO FURTHER!
Review: Just when everything seemed normal, David Elliotte, starts his day with a fined brewed cup of coffee. But, everything isn't normal, and the coffee won't help the outcome of this thiller.

From the point when David's boss points a gun at him to when he recounts his days in a war unwillingly remembered, ACTION is the name of the game. A heart stopping, bullet dodging, psycological mind twisting story that will have you wishing for a sequal.

Best action book I have read(heard)! A must for anyone who loves a really good action story.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book was great. One of the best I've ever read!
Review: This was one of the best books I've ever read. It is a fast-paced, heart pounding thriller that you can't put down. The whole question of why they are after him pulls you into the story too. The story line has all the twists, turns and questions that readers love.
