Summary: action packed and high tension
Review: This book was a great action packed novel. I saw in the one reveiw that the rights were already picked up to be a movie...I'm not surprised. Can you say , Bruce Willis? It was very much a Die Hard kind of action and suspense book and the actual sequence that the title refers to was absolutely brilliant. I got a flashback of McGuyver during the stairwell scene....it was inguineous. The pace kept up through the whole book and had a beleiveable plot. It kept you guessing what was real and what wasn't throughout. The way it was written gave insight into the main characters mind and levied a little humor at his expense. It was refreshing to read a book that kept you both interested and chuckling. I definetly would recommend it to all my action fan friends.

Summary: The consummate beach or airplane read
Review: This book starts with its pedal on the floor and never lets up! It's a totally exciting roller coaster that many novels boast of but few deliver to this degree. Garber's conversational style elevates this above a purely action/trash read. Great stuff - don't miss it!

Summary: YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!
Review: Vertical Run is by far the greatest book I've read in a long time. It's exciting, well-written, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I don't usually read books more than once, but I had to make an exception for Vertical Run.

Summary: An adrenaline rush from start to finish
Review: Dave Elliot is a normal guy. Successful, healthy, re-married, everything in his life is routine and going well... until his boss walks into his office with a loaded gun. From that point on, for Dave it's a headlong sprint for survival, using only his wits and the tricks of his former trade: Army Special Forces in Vietnam. As nameless men try to kill him for an unknown reason, all Dave's training, suppressed for a long time, comes back to him. Garber's style is much more comfortable and easy to read than most action authors, but his best method is that of a voice in Dave's head, his "guardian angel", objectively following him around and cynically providing commentary on the gravity of his situation. The tension crackles as Dave tries to avoid early retirement and figure out why he has become a target. Dave Elliot is one of the most enjoyable protagonists to appear in adventure thrillers today, making this a great read for all action fans.

Summary: A three day read
Review: This book has quite possibly the most amazing first fifty pages I have ever read! It usually takes me about three to four weeks to finish a book of this size, this one took three days. The action is non-stop, and it is one of those rare books where you can really visualize everything that is happening due to the intense attention to detail. A must read for the action loving reader.

Summary: Vertical Run
Review: You'll never guess the plot twist in this one until the very end. Fast paced, strong characters, James Bond like techno stuff, this one is tough to put down.

Summary: A terrific read
Review: Ordinary businessman and Vietnam vet David Elliot goes to work to discover everybody wants to kill him for no apparent reason. He must use his military training to fight for his life and uncover the truth. You can call it Rambo in a Die Hard situation. Despite its fairly weak ending, Vertical Run is fast-paced, exciting, and fun. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Five Stars for sheer exhileration
Review: WOW! The ONLY book I've read that began and kept going with the intensity of 'The Day After Tomorrow'. If you want a story that reads like a fantastic adventure/movie (Yes, Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson or Harrison Ford--are you listening? ) then by all means you have found your next project! Spend a few hours and get to know Joseph Garber. I have been patiently waiting for his follow-up, but to no avail. Until then just re-read it, you'll enjoy it VERRRRY MUCH. It's just FAST, FUN, and even though it has moments of unbelievability (what great adventure book doesn't?) you suspend your belief because it's so darned FUN. The plot moves with all the speed of Barney Fife on an Acid/Adrenaline/ Caffeine high. THIS BOOK MOVES! What more can I say? It's GREAT--but don't expect the Intellectual story of the decade--what you CAN expect is a captivating story where lots of things blow up--the perfect book for the man who loves gun-powder. Let me know what YOU

thought: rmgomske@lightcom.net Enjoy.

Summary: VERY WELL DONE BOOK, I WAS IMPRESSED!
Review: Excellent book. Tons of action, great detail and description. There were very few parts I was critical of. Overall, it was outstanding. I highly recommend this book to all those who love the action/adventure, special forces/green beret type novels.

Summary: Just Try Putting it Down
Review: To be honest, when it comes to fiction, I can rarely finish a book. I never usually make it past three-quarters. Not so with 'Vertical Run'. I found myself gripped by this fast-paced thriller. You will find yourself asking 'why the hell is this happening to this guy?', and somehow Garber makes it all seem plausible. A thoroughly enjoyable read, I assure you. Enjoy.
