Review: I've never been a big fan of fantasy type books......with fairies and such. But once I picked up these books by Laurell Hamilton I couldn't put them down. I completely lost myself in the world she created. An excellent read......all of them! And that includes her Anita Blake books as well.

Summary: A Must Read for any romance novel buff!
Review: This is the first book I've read written by Laurell K. Hamilton, and I have got to say that she has a great and wounderful emagination. She goes so indepth with her characters to the point that when your done with the book you begin to think you know them, love them, and can't get enough of them. I guess that's how she hooks you into getting her other books, I know, as soon as I was finished with A Caress of Twilight I went to the store and bought Obsidean Butterfly.
Any hoo...this is a great book! Loved it, and I recomend it to anyone who like fiction that involes elves, faries, and demons, oh oh and romance of course!

Summary: Just go in with your eyes open
Review: You should read Kiss of Shadows before reading Caress of Twilight. I want to say before either just go in with your eyes wide open. This story is graphic, Laurell K. Hamilton doesn't close bedroom doors nor does she pull punches as far as what Merry experiences with each of the men. This story is set back in Los Angeles where she is living in her small apartment with her band of guards/harem. They are her "Guard" because she is a Princess, but their job is really to have a lot of sex with her to try and get her pregnant in order to inherit the Unseelie Throne from her aunt. This story continues Merry's work as Detective, but her focus is primarily on the task her aunt has set forth which is getting pregnant. Laurell K. Hamilton has once again done a good job with giving very well drawn out scenes that can place you right in the situation. They aren't for those that have palpatations at the sight of a sex scene in a book. These men/Fey have been without a woman for 100's of years and LKH makes you understand through Merry's narration what the men are going through. She adds the mystery of Merry's uncle the King of Light and Illusion sending something horrible out simply so his secret can be protected. He sends out a horror that is nothing more than a killing machine leaving distruction in it's path with no way to kill it only the possibility of trapping it once again. I eagerly await book 3 in the series.

Summary: Solid, amusing, somewhat kinky
Review: I rather liked this one, as it seemed to stay similar in tone and spirit to Kiss of Shadows. It was far less dark than the Anita Blake books, mostly because Merry is not human, and thus she does not fear her humanity slipping away. Major tension in the Anita books comes from Anita becoming the kind of monster she used to kill, while in these books, our heroine is merely trying to survive, prosper, and get lots of hot, rather kinky sex.So, do not expect deep, nor philosophical. That said, it was fun.

Summary: A Very Big Let-Down
Review: I couldn't wait to read one of Hamilton's books, as I had heard so many good things about her stories. I thought I would try her Faery World first as the Anita Blake series is very big and I am behind.I couldn't wait for this book to end. It had no plot and the characthers did nothing but sit around, or have sex. And I found the sex to be boring as well!Very good Idea that just did not pan out well. I may try another of her books, but so far I am not impressed. I felt like I was reading very bad fan fiction.

Summary: The Best Series Ever!
Review: The Merideth Gentry novels are truely very good books. Yes it is true that they are explicit and R-rated but you do have to catch on to the fact that sexual exploration and acceptance is part of the Fae culture (which is explained in the first novel). The writing its self is very good and will definatly keep you turning the pages. I read both of the books in under a month because they are so addicting! I am anticipating the third novel in Febuaray!

Summary: porn anyone?
Review: I picked up this and the last Merry Gentry books thinking that it would be an interesting change of pace. I didn't realize that I was just picking up strange, fetish pornography. I felt like the plot revolved around a very weak core. The entire plot of the series so far is to have sex repeatedly until she's pregnant, and describe all of the beautiful men she's going to bed with and how they do what she enjoys. I really hoped for more, but I guess Ms. Hamilton has taken to just writing pornography. Between these books and her most recent anita blake books, I am tempted not to read any more of her stuff.

Summary: Merry's saga continues...
Review: A Caress of Twilight picks up the story of Meredith, Princess of Flesh, several months after she had been elevated to co-heir of the Unseelie Court. She will be Queen of the court if she has a child before her cousin does, and she has a six month's lead on him, as he's being "punished" for six months. She is back in California, with her own court of various men, ranging from Sidhe bodyguards from the Queen's court to a representative of the Goblin Court. Hamilton fans may be a bit disappointed: the sex is not as frequent as in the first book or as raunchy as has become the standard in the Anita Blake series. Which is a bit surprising, as Meredith's bloodlines are rich in fertility goddesses and sexual healing. It feels like a transitional book. Storylines continue from the first book, and are still incomplete in this one. But there is progression. Meredith continues to consolidate her power base among the demi-fey courts, forging short-term (and uneasy) alliances. She also learns a fair amount about being a leader, a needed lesson surrounded by strong men who tend to dominate any situation. As whoever fathers her future child will become her King, she juggles her feelings for some who would make disastrous kings, and those who would be strong kings, if perhaps uneasy longterm companions. And her second Gift, the Hand of Blood, manifests itself in a battle against a lethal magical foe, resulting in Wild Magic being released and many of the Sidhe regaining powers they had once sacrificed to emigrate to America. Not the strongest of Hamilton's books, but a good fix for the addict (to which I confess to being a charter member, starting with the first, Guilty Pleasures). I look forward to the next one.

Summary: Heh...Wow
Review: Listen, if you are intrested in anything remoatly changeling and have a love for pashion, then you'll love this series. It is full of the darker side of farie, sex and blood. However, the story lines themselves are intreaging and the charectors are to die for. Fans of Interview with the Vampire the movie would be intrested in checking out thies books, die hard Anne Rice book lovers might not so much- there isn't a huge amount of charector inner strife. I read both books the day that I got them- they are adictive. I have to say that I love thies books much more than her Anita ones that seem almost too Buffy the Vampire Slayer for me. Kiss of Shadows and Caress of Twilight seem more in depth- they are longer- and you get attached to the charectors without haveing to read 4 or 5 books- I'd say the only problem is that so far there are only two. I can't wait until another one comes out.
