Rating: Summary: Danger Will Robinson--Danger Review: I loved the Power of Now, but this book does not stand up to that book. Some of the passages are interesting, but for the most part this is a book that you could read at the book store for free. It is magazine material, not thought provoking book matter. I would have preferred to see most of this book on flash cards, instead of in its current form. I think Tolle has said it all and for me he said it all in his first book. Stillness is merely an echco.
Rating: Summary: Book is a Contradiction Review: If what Tolle says is true, then the method in which he is using to tell his story is a contradiction. In other words, if mind is really not where it is at, then to convey his message via the mind in this book would imply that the book is second rate. The author cant have it both ways. He can't say that the mind is bad and then use his mind to write a book. To use his mind to write a book would in itself discount his original proposition that the mind is the enemy.
Rating: Summary: Very interesting attempt at experiencing the "now" Review: The inherent difficulty in writing a book to help people experience the "now" is that the very act of trying (e.g., by reading books) takes us away from it. Although it is impossible to accomplish in any complete way, this book has attempted interesting things to get around this contradictory nature of this endeavor. If you read this book, you will know what I mean by this. If you'd like to really learn about the state of complete transcendence, I suggest you read "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato. It will not make you completely transcendent, but at least you will understand what that means and how human development is related to all of this. Again, read it and you'll know what I mean.
Rating: Summary: Return To Sender Review: What a disappointment this book was. I was expecting the Power of Now, but only got a dim bulb. Another reviewer is correct. This book should have been a paperback, instead of a costly hardcover. Most of the book is blank anyway. What a rip off!
Rating: Summary: A manual for Living Free of Suffering Review: Read this book. Take it with you anywhere you go. Put it under your pillow at night. If you don't like it, forgive yourself and gently stop thinking about the material and just listen to what it says. This is sacred material amazingly available to everyone. This book heralds this New Age of Freedom from Suffering. After deeply studying many old and new sacred material such as the Bible and many related studies, A Course in Miracles, other works and lectures by Eckhart Tolle, works of Don Miguel Ruiz, and many many others, I truly believe this book is the clearest and most concise sacred book written in English in our century. This book is a Teacher and if you are willing, it can deliver you from suffering.
Rating: Summary: 5 stars + Review: A wondrous book that continues to point the way to our inner stillness. These 'teachings' very simply say and show one how to be still and to Be with this stillness. Reminding us of the Golden Thread the connects all of the original Teachings from throughout the ages, the words are arranged in short paragraphs that impact our Being beyond the mind, allowing more Stillness to emerge. Even as some people, perhaps through the ego, have expected this book to have more words and new messages, Stillness Speaks reminds us of true simplicity and purpose of a Conscious Life. Simply by holding this book, one might feel the energy of the book, the teachings, the consciousness emanating from within it. If anyone has disliked or loved any of Eckhardt Tolle's books, tapes, or videos; its important to listen and to read the words and pointers over and over again. Each time a new 'understanding' will come through for each of us. Sometimes it seems like reading a 'new' book ... same 'words', yet a greater and deeper knowing. There is nothing to anticipate with this work or this material, simply to Be with it, and to Be with What Is. With gratitude to Eckhardt.
Rating: Summary: A Real Let Down Review: I would have much preferred to read this book in paperback. The value for the money in hardback just was not there. I mean 17 dollars for blank spaces is a lot to ask.
Rating: Summary: Rip-Off Review: There I said it....it's a publishing ploy to ride the current of Mr. Tolle's well-deserved popularity. Don't fall for it. Read and reread The Power of Now. It's the best book I've ever read and yes, it did change my life. It's everything you could want to know. Stillness Speaks doesn't do anything for me or for that matter Mr. Tolle but make him look like a money-grubber and me like a fool for participating.
Rating: Summary: Good Review: After reading "The Power of Now," there`s not a lot more the author can say, but for those of us who find comfort in his words, this is another thing to pick up and read. If you didn`t get much out of it or found it to be a little hard to understand and haven`t read TPON, please read TPON! Peaceful and good for us all.
Rating: Summary: In the Stillness Review: Stillness Speaks is not a book about "teaching you" any particular answers or leading you down a spiritual path. This book is about reminding you of your own inner stillness and from there on what you receive from this book depends on what you find when you reconnect with that true inner self. It is therefore difficult to comment on the book itself as what you receive from it is totally dependent on what you find within. The first line of this book is well worth the investment. As a matter of fact, after you read the first line you may not go any further, as you will find that you are now on your own inner voyage to the inner stillness (which speaks only to you).
