Rating: Summary: Not Kay Hooper's finest. Review: I have read every book Kay Hooper has written and every book I have loved!! This one however, was very disappointing. If I wanted to know how the mind of a psychic works I would have bought a book on the subject. That was all this book was about. One murdered girl. Two dead bodies. Oh what a disappointment this book was. Save your money. Wait till it comes to the library. Hope her next one lives up to her usual standards as the best in Suspense.
Rating: Summary: Don't Bother Review: I love the previous books in the Bishop series, but could barely get through this one. The character development was very poorly done and characters that I have no idea why they were even introduced or what they had to do with the story. I mainly got fed up with all the psychic detail that went on and on. This felt like a short story that the author tried to stretch into a full length book. Very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Do we have to wait another year now? Review: I think that Kay Hooper has done it again. She just gets a little too sappy in some spots for my taste. I do agree with the woman who says you need to read the others before this one. but the only one that is a must before you read it is the one with Bishop in the beginning...from there you can read just about anyone. I think that is the "Shadow" series. I just hate that I waited a year for this book and read it in one night and now have to wait another year for the next one....<sigh> oh well such is life.
Rating: Summary: A very good read! Review: I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this site. I've read all of Kay Hooper's books and I found this one very entertaining as well. Maybe not her absolute best but certainly up there.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I'm not usually into mysteries but I really liked this book. It had good characters, an interesting plot and a touch of romance. I'd like to toot my own horn by saying I suspected the identity of the murderer before it was revealed...but it's so well written that I suspected EVERYBODY! (in my opinion that's a very good thing).
Rating: Summary: entertaining police procedural Review: In Hastings, South Carolina, Police chief Rafe Sullivan knows the third blond victim means a serial killer is on he loose. What he cannot fathom is how the culprit persuades these intelligent young women to enter the woods with him. There is no hint of a struggle in any of the three homicides which makes sense to the local cop.To help Rafe, the FBI's Special Crimes Unit sends Agent Isabel Adams to work the case. Upon meeting Isabel, Rafe has cardiac arrest when he sees her, the profile of the victims. Though her police skills are top rate, Rafe knows the Feds have numerous elite cops to do this job. As they work together to end this evil killer, Rafe learns why Isabel with her special talent was sent to assist him. Though similar, especially the killer, to a recent tidal wave of serial killer novels, SENSE OF EVIL is a well-written entertaining police procedural with touches of romance and the paranormal. The story line is loaded with suspense that is somewhat relieved by the glib and flippant Isabel. Rafe is a concerned cop worried about the killer striking again and frantic over the safety of Isabel who he loves. SENSE OF EVIL is a fine entry amidst the sub-genre flood of novels. Rating: Summary: A waste ..... Review: Kay hooper is one of my favorite author. The Shadow series is the best paranormal books I've ever read. The first two books of the Evil Series are awesome. But this book is the WORST. I even wonder if Kay Hooper actually wrote this book. The plot is simple and very predictible. The character developements are very shallow. I agree that it is such a waste of time to read this book and a waste of money to even buy it. But most of all it is truly a waste of Kay Hooper's talent if she can't write a book that deserve to have her name in front. I just hope that her next book will be better......... a lot better.
Rating: Summary: Sense of Evil is a GREAT read! Review: Kay Hooper never disappoints her readers and her latest book, "Sense of Evil" is no exception. She keeps the reader guessing until the end. I also enjoy all the secondary characters which round out the story nicely. I would definitely recommend this book to someone who enjoys a good mystery with a little romance.
Rating: Summary: A Paranormal Romance Thriller. Review: Long a fan of Kay Hooper's, I couldn't wait to get my hands on "Sense of Evil," and I must say I wasn't disappointed. However when I read it, I read as an old friend, someone who'd already accepted the FBI's fictional Special Crimes Unit as fact, someone who had already bought into the special powers of the Unit's investigators. So when my sea-going, writer friend Jack Priest came by my boat and asked me about it, my first inclination was to sing its praises, but then I realized, this man hadn't read any of the others, and therein lies the problem with this book, something I hadn't thought of, but something I have to mention in a review. This third book in the Evil series, in my opinion, relies a little to much on the ones that came before it. I knew this was true when I ferreted out my copies of "Touch" and "Whispers of Evil" and loaned them, along with "Sense," to my friend, recommending he read them in order. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed "Sense of Evil." I believe that Kay Hooper is one of the finest thriller writers going. I love the way she mixes romance and the paranormal stuff into her fast paced stories. She keeps you on the edge of your seat, she quickens your pulse and she makes you love her characters, especially in this book. I spent the next couple of days after finishing it, taking a boat from St. Martin down to Trinidad and I had Police Chief Rafe Sullivan and Special Isabel Adams in my mind the whole way. I replayed that book over and over and that is truly a high compliment, because there is a lot going on when you are at sea, many things that can steal your attention. But good as the book was, I have to sadly take away a star because a book should stand all by itself. My advice is, if you've read the first two in the series, go out and get this one pronto, you'll love it. And if you haven't read "Touch" and "Whispers," then buy the paperbacks, read them, then move onto "Sense of Evil." I give this book four stars. Review submitted by Captain Katie Osborne
Rating: Summary: Kay Hooper does it again! Review: Never one to disappoint me, this Kay Hooper book starring Bishop and his special crimes unit (SCU) had be up all night reading it through. A page turner from the beginning I was able to get into the book and loved mention of recurring characters. The the best thing about these books is that you can pick up any of the stand books and read it as a stand alone...or read it as part of the series as I do. These books are quick read but good. There is plenty of action and enough characters to keep you guessing throughout. I can't wait for the next book.
