Summary: Pretty Lame
Review: I was looking for an author I hadn't read as a source for new reading material. I saw Along came a spider and thought I'd found it. The 120+ chapters in this book could have been shortened to 10... tops. I think it was more to fill up paper. I hope his other books are a better read.

The plot plausable. Maybe it was a childrens book. It seemed to be written as one. Then maybe I was spoiled having just read John Connelly's and Michael Connelly's books.

Summary: One of the best I've read!
Review: If I could describe this book in one word, it would be "intense." I read it in one sitting, not wanting to put it down even to get something to eat. It keeps you on edge, wanting to know what will happen in the end.

It follows Frannie O'Neill, a vet in Colorado. One night while driving home she sees a frightened young girl who appears to have wings. Together with her new tenant, Kit, they unfold the mystery of the girl, Max, and discover the horrible truth.

This book will really make you think; any of it could really happen today. It is a truly intense read that will leave you spellbound.

Summary: Started Good, got Boring, Ended Bad
Review: The build-up of the encounter with the mysterious girl who is the centerpiece of the book was interesting and held my attention very well. But soon after that, the plot development took a downhill turn and kept going... There seemed to be too much focus on the romantic stuff and not enough on the thrilling mystery stuff. I wanted so badly to read more character development with the girl and found her "normalcy" other than the obvious abnormal things, to be unbelievable. I was disappointed with the entire last half of the book. Written in beach-language, but not even a good summer beach read.

Summary: OK, but not great.
Review: I only read one book before this one by James Patterson, and that was 1st To die. I loved 1st to Die it was a 5 star book! But this one definitly not as good. I thought it would be good because a lot of people are saying that it is Patterson's best, and that it is Jam-Packed with suspense. Well It was pretty suspensful, but I dont think it is Patterson's best, at least I hope not or he has some really bad books! I was at the book store and I bought a set with Dean Koontz books and The Bonesetter Daugter by Amy Tan,... and they had ... When The Wind Blows, in hard cover by James Patterson. I see now that I have read the book, just why they put it in the bargin section. I read the book in about 1 day because it was a pretty short book. I did not really think it is GREAT, but it was not Terrible, I plan to read The Alex Cross novels, I hope I am not dissapointed. The book was more of a childrens book then an adult book. It starts of with a girl that is running away from some scientist, when they are very near to her she spreads her winds and flys over a fence, she hides on a tree and the scientst are unable to find her. The book was so unmemarable that I cant even remember the characters name, so I will just say, The main character sees her on the street and trys to pick her up but she hides. The main character tells herself that what she saw was not real and lives her life. She encouters the girl again and helps her find her missing brother, there is a love story in all of this with the main character and a man, the book reminded me of Watchers by Dean Koontz a lot, only Watchers was 100 times better, I can remember the characters in that book! The writing is not very good, but if you want a faced pased Okay novel, then this will do, but if you want a faced pased GREAT novel, turn to Dean Koontz's Watchers.

Summary: should he share the ROYALTIES?
Review: My first experience with James Patterson..... Loved hearing this unabridged cassette. Excellent reader, great story, fast moving. Could not put it down and it went really fast. Great ending. Not so predicable. Only thing, it just kept reminding me of what Dean Koontz would write. Colorado, dog, heros on the run, lab stuff. In fact, Koontz has written this many times, minus the flying children, of course! (corner of his eye, his latest is a good example) AND of course, a bit of a take off on Peter Pan and the lost boys. Will see how his next one holds up.

Summary: Should Have Been Named "When Children Fly"
Review: This book is below Patterson's usual quality and is not worth your time. Book should have been titled "When Children Fly" since that is the primary focus of the book. Patterson got too caught up in the act of flying vs. a good story line.

Summary: Page turner, but not as good as the Cross series
Review: I always think among James Patterson's novels, the Alex Cross series are the best and readable. The rests are just OK. This is no exception. Well, it is definitely a page-turner, but in terms of plot, twist, violence, .... all those elements in the Cross series, I just cannot find enough of them here. One interesting opinion, I find this book much alike Dean Kootnz's style - a troubled heroine, getting romance with our hero, sci-fi experiments, government pursuit.....if not on the snappy 2 1/2 page chapter style, I really will think this is a Dean Kootnz book.

Summary: Page Turner
Review: I picked up this book in the discount bin. I dececided to start reading it Saturday afternoon. I finished the book Saturday evening. I could not set it down. I like the story line. I have purchased three other book by Patterson. I can't wait to start the others. My only disappointment was the the ending. There was no buildup he seemed to rush the end.

Summary: quick-paced, interesting, fantasy/sci-fi/mystery read
Review: I must qualify this review by saying that I am a novice when it comes to reading fiction, much less pop fiction. I just don't do it. I prefer to derive my shallow entertainment from movies, TV, and the occasional pop song. However, my recent foray into the world of pop fiction with "When the Wind Blows," was a very pleasant one. The book was a page-turner and a quick read with enough interesting plot concepts and twists to really entertain and surprise. However, I don't know if I would recommend it to the diehard Patterson fan or to any serious pop fiction reader. I would recommend it to the occasional fiction "passerby"-- like me-- who wants a quick, entertaining read. "When the Wind Blows" was good enough to wet my appetite for hopefully better Patterson books and better pop fiction, in general. I welcome any recommendations from the fiction literary Ivy leaguers out there. Any genre will do: sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, horror, drama, etc.

Summary: Page Turner Extraordinaire!
Review: Ok, agreed. When the Wind Blows is not Shakespeare! But if you're looking for a book that you just can't put down...look no further. Be forewarned: once you pick it up, you can forget about mowing the lawn, watching the kids or going out to the movies. You'll spend the weekend reading! This book is a bit of a departure from Patterson's usual genre. It has a futuristic-scientific bent to it along the lines of Robin Cook. But Patterson spins the tale in such an enthralling way that you really believe little girls can fly. Highly recommended as a summer beach book.
