Rating: Summary: dissapointing Review: i guess reading the black market and the escapades of alex cross & company made it difficult to really like this book. bring on more alex & company.
Rating: Summary: JIM HAS DONE IT AGAIN.I NEVER PUT IT DOWN.EXCITING STORY. Review: LIKE ALL OF JIMS BOOKS, IT MOVES VERY FAST.I LIKE HOW YOU HAVE A VERY CLEAR PICTURE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE STORY. THIS BOOK (LIKE KISS THE GIRLS) WOULD MAKE A GREAT MOVIE. GOOD LUCK MAX.
Rating: Summary: The Worst I've Ever Read! Review: I generally keep my opinions about books to myself, figuring that everyone has his/her own personal preferences. However, this book is so bad, I just had to vent my displeasure! This has to be the worst book EVER. Even dime-a-dozen romance novels have more plot, and more intrigue. The writing is contrived, forced, and plain stupid. Alex Cross would have pronounced this book to be DOA. If there had been a zero star possibility, I would have awarded it to this book. A very disappointed, and maybe former, Patterson fan
Rating: Summary: Not your typical James Patterson, where's Alex Cross? Review: Even though the subject seems a little far-fetched, it makes you think about the government coverups that really do exist and if this might just be possible. Kiss the Girls and Cat and Mouse are my favorites. I will give J.P. another chance with his next book that will feature Alex Cross.
Rating: Summary: Interesting diversion from usual. Review: Interesting storyline; however, I miss Alex Cross. I had a problem believing in this story.
Rating: Summary: What were they thinking?!?!?!?! Review: When the Wind Blows is the biggest disappointment I have had with any book I've read this year. First, the title leads one to believe that it is of the same subject as the Alex Cross books. People this is NOT suspense, this is NOT a thriller. What James Patterson has written IS science-fantasy. I have no problem with an author breaking out of a genre. In fact I wish more did, but not like this. Nancy Taylor Rosenberg wrote a book called "California Angel". At the beginning of the book was a disclaimer to her fans explaining that the book was nothing like anything she had written before. Patterson's author note at the beginning of Wind Blows, leads the reader to think that what we are about to read is actually possible, if not know then in the near future. Flying Bird Children... Note to Mr Patterson and his publishers... I have enjoyed ALL of your other books but I would really like to know what you people were smoking when you descided to publish this way-to-fantastic tale and package it as a suspese-thriller. And last but not least the story just didn't hold me at all...this is the FIRST Patterson book that I could not finish. It just isn't worth the time.
Rating: Summary: Quite a change for Patterson Review: While I was a little disappointed that Alex Cross was not the main character, I soon got into Frannie the vet., Kit the FBI agent, and Max the little angel. Because of the easy reading format, I read it this weekend. Yes, it is a new realm for Patterson, but I felt he dealt with it (genetic engineering) in a knowledgeable way. I enjoyed the characters, the concept, and the ending. Just because he left serial killers behind, doesn't make it a bad read. Thumbs up from me.
Rating: Summary: Not Exactly "Cat & Mouse", but... Review: I am a hugh Patterson fan. I have read most of his books and have loved every one of them. However, this latest book leaves something to be desired. Once you get Alex Cross out of your head it isn't too bad. I liked the characters and the way they interacted and bonded. The storyline was a little far-fetched but just realistic enough to scare you into believing it could happen or be happening right now. The ending was just mushy enough without being a real tearjerker. Not up there with his best, but still a decent read.
Rating: Summary: Reads like a BAD Saturday cartoon. Review: OK. Get enough monkeys sitting together at enough typewriters and you CAN write a novel. 12 year olds may find this book entertaining, but I doubt it.J. Garland
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected, but a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy. Review: I knew this was not an Alex Cross novel, but thought it would be a scary thriller. Complete suspension of disbelief is required, but the short chapters kept the pages turning and I found that I had read the entire novel in one afternoon. Frannie, Kit and Max are so good and the Bad Guys are so bad that the plot is laughable..I actually found myself laughing out loud several times. So this book was FUN! I'm looking forward to the return of Alex Cross.
