Rating: Summary: Not Worth It! Review: I was very disappointed in this book. It had potential but just fizzled out. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. Take a pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: A departure from the norm is a delight to the (mine) senses Review: I love Alex Cross, but it was fun to read a departure from James Patterson's usual style and content to explore other places within our imaginations. I think that this is perfectly suited as a screenplay and can hardly wait to see what Mr. Patterson brought to life in my mind's eye. I think the character's are interesting and hope to see some of them again in the future.
Rating: Summary: Definitely not the quality of his previous novels Review: After reading the other reviews, it is obvious that this is one book that you either loved or hated.Put me in the last category.I was used to Patterson's usual "keep the pages turning" style so much that I never blinked an eye when I shelled out the money for this book as soon as it came out.MISTAKE! I had all I could do to keep my eyes open while dragging my way through this book. This was just too difficult to believe--winged children? Sounds like something from a bizarre, twisted fairy tale. Please bring back Alex Cross! Just in case, when Patterson's next book comes out,I'm going to borrow it before I buy.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book. It was Patterson's best so far. Review: From the moment I began reading this latest Patterson work, I couldn't put it down. I found the topic timely, the premise fascinating, and the writing hypnotic. I have recommended it without reservation to others. If you liked Patterson in the past, you will love this one.
Rating: Summary: A messy, incomplete book Review: Patterson's interesting premise isn't fulfilled. Another reviewer mentioned that Patterson only partially completes the puzzle - that the end pieces are in place, but the middle remains undone. I quite agree.Buildings are burned; we've never sure by whom. People thought dead turn up alive; we don't know how. One character is shot; we don't know who does the shooting. None of these things are absolutely vital to understanding what happens. But they annoyed me. Not every plot point can be well-covered in a breakneck-paced three-page chapter. At least it only took me three hours to read the whole thing...
Rating: Summary: So easy to read it should be required reading for 7th grade Review: I read this book in one day. Not because I am a fast reader, but because the story was such a fluff piece. The story is just interesting enough to keep your interest, but it goes nowhere. Not nearly as interesting as his others. Wait for it to come out in paperback.
Rating: Summary: not very good Review: I didn't think this book was as good as his other books. A co-worker told me that it was really good, but it wasn't that good.
Rating: Summary: very strange Review: I think this book was the best by James Patterson. I could not take my nose out of it. He has really out done himself. I have read all his books and this is by far the best. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes to read. It is a must. I hope he brings back the characters in this book like he did with Alex Cross. I would love to see it made in to a movie.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Flight of Fancy Review: This is a great book - one of the best works I've read coming from Patterson. The pace is classic Patterson. Fast, though not as furious as his Alex Cross novels. Now, the idea of a bird-girl was a bit unreal at first and it took a while for Patterson to get to the DNA part. Once I read about the genetic research involved, it made more sense and Max becomes believable. Frannie's first-person narrations were a bit out of sync with the rest of the book though - Patterson could have written the entire novel in third-person and it'd be less disjointed. Overall, a very good read. It's more science fiction than mainstream. I enjoyed it. It'll make a great stocking stuffer this Christmas.
Rating: Summary: A quick & entertaining read Review: I have read all of Patterson's "Alex Cross" books, and have enjoyed them all. I knew this one was going to be different, because my wife read it first. After the first few chapters, the pages just flew by. It is unusual, but very enjoyable.
