Summary: Very Different
Review: I read the reviews before I read it. Most of the reviews were negative. Well I have to disagree....yes it was fantasy....maybe not....who knows what the government conceals to the American public.....this could be happening....At first I was waiting for Alex Cross to come into the book...of course he never does. Yes this was different...I enjoyed it very much....fast reading....James Patterson's other novels were starting to get a little too gory for me. I took a chance on this one, and happy I did.

Summary: I loved it!
Review: I am a big fan of James Patterson. Although this book is very much different from the rest of his books, I've truly enjoyed reading it. I found the book hard to put down.

Summary: Implausible and Laughable
Review: I listened to the unabridged audio release of this book, which probably didn't enhance my experience due to the fact that the female narrator performed dialogue in laughable voice changes; especially Kit's voice.

As for the book itself, I found it to be absurd in it's plot, poorly researched in it's scientific proposals, and absolutely predictable for it's entire length. One of the most laughable lines that I have EVER read in a book came from Frannie as she thought about the meal that Kit was cooking for them: "My tongue sat up and begged." EXCUSE ME? What kind of metaphor is the author painting with that kind of line?

As for his research, as an example I give you the end of the book, in which the author repeatedly states that the bird children are to be reunited with their biological parents on a military base at "0200". 0200 is 2AM! I believe he meant 1400, which would be 2PM and would match the description of the scene he portrayed. It's a simple complaint, but to my mind very indicative of the slapdash approach the author used throughout this entire book. None of the scientific descriptives were in the least bit plausible. Patterson's complete lack of biological knowledge, and lack of research effort in making up for that shortcoming, are painfully obvious throughout When The Wind Blows.

The only reason I finished this book is that audio books are expensive, and I didn't want to be left with the feeling that I had completely wasted my money.

Summary: A terrible book.
Review: This is without doubt the worst book I have read in years. A cross between a poor children's book and a romance novel. Hackneyed dialog, poor character development, a stupid plot. Patterson has never been in the mountains for sure. His setting isn't on this part of the planet. I was taken.

Summary: Wait for the paperback
Review: I rather liked the change of pace, but please give the readers more credit. The narratives from Frannie were sophomoric and the "love scenes" were just plain silly. They sounded like they were written by a 10 yr. old..well maybe an 8 year old. If you can't be at least mildly sensual..leave them out! I actually started to laugh while reading some of this dribble.

However, on the up side, genetic engineering is an interesting topic and this made for very fast reading. However, I wish I had waited for the paperback and not spent twenty bucks on this one.

Summary: What a surprise
Review: Quite a fairytale. Quite enjoyable

Summary: Interesting turn for Patterson
Review: James Patterson out Dean Koontzed - Dean Koontz. If you are looking for Alex Cross or anything near that genre you are out of luck. This is one of the better Sci-Fi thriller books I have read.

Summary: Good
Review: Interesting storyline, but not like other patterson books, but still very enjoyable

Summary: ridiculous
Review: extremly dissapointing compared to his alex cross thrillers..

Summary: Surprised and disappointed
Review: I've mostly enjoyed all of Patterson's books, but thought they were getting almost too "gory",so I was looking forward to a different type of book from him. What a shock this book was....I'm really having a difficult time believing he wrote this. In addition to the far-fetched plot, the writing was childish and the dialogue almost laughable.I'll take the gore over this any day!
