Summary: Patterson should stick with this.
Review: I know I'm going to get my head chewed off here by you Patterson Groupies. Well here goes. I liked this book. Better than Kiss The Girls or any of the others. I guess I got tiered of Cross it got boring, I mean how can a detective be that successful and not be dead yet, and in Washington D.C. Not possible-next to Detroit it's the murder capital of the world! Great setting, great story line, kept my attention, everyone should at least give the book and New & Fresh cast a chance. It's time Alex Cross retired-so you fans who like him can still hope he'll make a reapperance or even a guest shot in a future novel, or he should be killed in the next book! Tiered, old. New settings, new stories. We need fresh faces and diffrent lives. You can't stick with the same old thing, it get boring after awhile. Give Patterson's new stories a chance. If this was another Cross novel I would never have bought it.

Summary: Yuck!
Review: Did he write this in a weekend? I have really enjoyed all his other books. This one however, is totally void of any redeeming quailties.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent, but not Alex Cross
Review: I started with "Kiss the Girls", and went back and read the rest. Even though this one was not about Alex, I was looking for a book with the same level of intensity, and it wasn't there, but it was still a fun read. The "X-File" story line, made me remember why I gave up TV and began reading again. It also made me wonder how we will control genetic enginering, and make sure it is put to proper use.

Summary: Really disappointing!
Review: I put this book aside after 50 pages. I bought it sight unseen because I always liked Patterson and I expected another Cross type book. He should stick to Cross and forget the fantasies!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very Unusual, Very Believeable - Absolutely Brilliant
Review: I have read most of James Patterson's books and must admit that I was becoming a bit bored of Alex Cross - the plots were great but you could guarantee that Alex would always win the day.

This book however was absolutely brilliant, I couldn't put it down from the first page to the last. It was unusual, totally different but quite believeable in this day of modern genetic science.

I would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed JP's writing in the past.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Having read and been thrilled by Kiss the Girls, I couldn't wait to get started with When the Wind Blows. Was that ever a mistake. What a let down from previous works. I, too, hope Mr. Patterson returns to Alex Cross and great mysteries. Leave Sci Fi to Bradbury.

Summary: Quite bad!!!!!
Review: This was a long winded book that could have been better if it were 50 pages long. This is the first and last book by Mr Patterson that I will ever read.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: This book is for the birds - BRING BACK ALEX CROSS
Review: What a disappointment! Please - if you have not read "Along Came A Spider" & his books through "Cat & Mouse". DON'T START WITH THIS ONE! This book lacks the suspense that stimulates natural curiousity and anxiousness when reading one of James Patterson's books. The fictional characters and bland story line leave little to the imagination and allows the reader to predict the ending. Alex Cross & the story lines of serial killers allows the readers imagination to run wild because the plot is of something that happens in todays society and we fear it. You don't know what will happen next. This one is far too predictable and frankly, turning the page is just as satisfying as closing the book. PLEASE BRING BACK ALEX CROSS !!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Different, but still good!
Review: I must admit, when I started reading this one, I certainly didn't expect the story that transpired. It is a thriller in the vein of the X-Files more than anything else. And as far as the actual writing is concerned, it is not up to Patterson's usual standards. The writing is very simplistic, and the character development isn't particularily great. So why 4 stars? Despite it's flaws, it is still an interesting and fast paced book. It's kind of like a Schwarzenegger movie - it won't win any awards, but it is stoill a fun, fast ride to the end.

Summary: Mr Patterson, you're no Dean Koontz
Review: What a silly story!! Like so many other "conspiracy" books, it turns predictable within the first few chapters. As characters are introduced, the readers knows who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. You want to shout warnings to the heros, "DON"T TRUST HIM/HER!". It's amazing that the beautiful, athletic, intelligent protagonists of this story can't figure out who their enemies are. Don't they read the same books that I do?

I had a strong feeling that Patterson was trying to imitate Dean Koontz. But his simplistic writing style and storytelling are no match for Koontz. His dialog is forced, "nerdy" almost. He throws in current jargon, but it doesn't sound hip. It's silly. And the exposition...whenever the heros meet face-to-face with turncoat enemeies, the adversaries insist on telling what they did and why. Why indeed!! It was laughable that these evil, heartless murderers would take time to confess anything.

And there are a couple of inconsistencies that make it seem like Patterson is untder the gun to turn out a book every year. The most flagrant inconsistency was the misuse of military time at the end of the book. The author refers to a meeting at 0200 hours and describes the bird-children "floating in the cloudless baby-blue skies"--at 2 in the morning? Where were the editors? Were were the editors in any part of this book?
