Summary: I liked this book, I really did.
Review: I know this is not the usual book that we expect from James Patterson, but I really liked it. When the wind blows kept me reading and was a great escape from reality. If you like Dean Koontz you will like When the wind blows.

Summary: Silly - one line is all it takes
Review: Silly - Will probably make "Oprah's Choice" list

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Flat
Review: My first Patterson experience, coming over from Koontz and King, though it's my understanding that his other works are better. Truly disappointed, but fortunately it was a quick read.

Summary: Different
Review: Not your typical james Patterson book, but I loved it especially the character Max with the winds, she was so angelic. It was light and a easy reader just what you need for a week at the beach.

Summary: Fantasy turned Nightmare
Review: This is the first (and will be the last)Patterson book I've read. It read like it was written by the 11 year old Max; not a mature Best Selling? author. The over use of words like "cool" and "screw" either from the mouths of children or the adult? Dr. Frannie was laughable, when it wasn't surpose to be; and will somebody please explain this dialogue between Kit and Frannie when he tells her "You struck me as brave, wise, adventurous, OBSTREPEROUS? (which means clamorous, turbulent, unruly) as hell". What, he couldn't find enough adjectives to discribe her?! You may wonder why I bothered to finish this book...I kept waiting for it to get better, but it didn't. Sorry Mr. Patterson, YOU BLEW IT with when the wind blows!

Summary: Very very Disappointed
Review: It is obvious that James Patterson has never been an 11 year old girl.

Having been one myself seveteen years ago, I was both upset and disappointed at the way he portrayed his character, Max. Her behavior, even for an extraordinay preteen rang so false, it was jarring. Her vocabulary was at times so dated, I felt as if it had been ripped from a particularly bad Leave It To Beaver. At other times, she sounded like a woman in her early fifties. Her attempts at bravery were also inappropriate. Nothing in his characterization of her indicated she would behave in that fashion. For this crime, he should be sentenced to watch every Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode. Perhaps then he would understand how to create a super-human, all too human young woman. I also had difficulty with the extreme character shifts. One moment characters are rightfully indignant and the next they are hopping into bed together? Apparently, his female characters are all bi-polar and subject to whims based on his male characters. He paints them with too large of brush, they are either all good or all evil. For this, he much watch Providence or ER. Real women have real motivation. Generally, that doesn't include delusions of granduer so severe that Snidely Whiplash seems humble.

His male characters walk straight out of bad Saturday serials. The big bad scientist with no redeeming feature. The stoic hero with a tragic past. His sentence for this crime is a forced viewing of American Beauty. Depth is a vital key for any character, particularly our heros. The days when Hercules plunging through his twelve labors with absolutely no believable change, was enough to satisfy an audience have passed.

Perhaps it is best that Mr. Patterson leave children in jeopardy thrillers up to Stephen King or Dean Koontz. God may punish me, but John Saul and VC Andrews (both pre and post mortem) are better at it than this. Read as a lesson of what NOT to do. My only regret is negative stars are not possible.

Summary: What Refreshing Change of Pace!!!
Review: I just finished this book and was going to give it 4 stars, but since a lot of people bashed this book I gave it 5. Why, I have read 12 mystery/thrillers novels in the last 2 months and I found this book to be a GREAT break from the ordinary humdrum, slashem-up, who did it novels. This book left you with a good feeling, having all the action, suspense, with a touch of fantasy and romance. One must keep an open mind when reading this book.

Summary: When the Wind Blows ------ BLOWS!
Review: Awful.. a complete waste of 8 bucks. Terrible writing, incredibly improbable plot. Just plain dumb and disappointing. Has he actually written something that is good?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Loved this book. Couldn't put it down. How different!
Review: I love James Patterson's books. The story was so different. Ending was good but not sappy. It's hard to write much more than that without giving away the story. I wish, though, a little more was said about the "School" and what was being done. Would like to see a sequel to this with "continuing adventures of Max and Matthew".

Summary: Good idea- Terrible story line
Review: The idea is sound. But the behavior of the main characters defies logic at times. People just aren't THAT stupid. Just one example from the book: if you know people are looking for you, and you know they know where you live, you just Do. Not. Go. Home!
