Summary: When the Wind Blows
Review: This is in response to the very first review. Just to let Jerry Heimelbrook know, Orson Wells did not write "1984", it was written by George Orwell. I personally think this book has more comparison with H. G. Wells', "The Island of Dr. Moreau". I think a lot more detail and time could have been spent on the how and why, rather than simply trying to cover up what had been done. I do not want to give the ending away, but it was too surreal, catering to the reader's sentiment. Its reality is far fetched. This book was a bit dissapointing in my opinion.

Summary: A Very Unexpected - And Pleaasnt - Surprise from Patterson!
Review: This book's subkect matter is perhaps the last kind I would expect from Patterson, but God help me he made it work! The first chapters hooked me like a sci-fi-loving fool, and I couldnt put it down after. Great female lead, great kids... the bad guys were a little thin, and the ending was too pat - I wanted an army of evil genetic mutants to show up - but all in all it wowed me. Great concept!

Summary: Outrageously Amazing and Riveting
Review: This book was by far the most thoughtful innovative book since Orson Wells' 1984. The book gripped you from beginning to end. Wow! A real thriller. Keep up the good work James.

Summary: Preposterous story
Review: James Patterson has done what I always thought was impossible. He's created a preposterous premise, implemented it with very bad prose, apparently done without the services of a story editor and a copy editor, and actually got this work published. I'm amazed and a little in awe. He has used the first person for one of his characters, the other points of view are in third person. He's used words during narration like "tummy", and "real hard", and the sound "fwap" over and over without being assassinated by an outraged editor. The short (a page or two) chapters are annoying and makes this reader wonder again in awe at what the author thinks is a chapter. Misspelled words and lack of punctuation are a distraction. Worst of all are the flimsy stereotyped characters. The main characters of Kit and Frannie are all right, but the "bad guys" are one dimensional, cardboard figures set into the story just to make the good guys look better. The tone is eighth grade or lower. The work comes off as the hurried first novel of a totally inexperienced writer, not what one might expect from someone with several novels under his belt. How did this become a bestseller? Are readers so undemanding?

Summary: An ill wind
Review: Normally I wouldn't hesitate to praise James Patterson. I have loved all of his books...until this one. But this fantasy was over the top, and just not my cup of tea. I would suggest that now that Mr. Patterson has gotten this fable off his chest, he get right back to doing what he does better than anyone else....the super mystery thriller. Please.

Summary: When the wind blows
Review: Very easy reading but too far-fetched. I really wanted to know how his story ended but left me with an empty feeling on the other hand once finished. Yes, a happy ending but I didn't get a clue how the childrens' parents were found. I liked his Jack and Jill much more.

Summary: Fiction or fact?
Review: I'm a fan of James Patterson and with this book he didn't let me down. Once I understood who and what Max really was, my heart went out to her and I had to finish the book to see what happened. Patterson was able to clearly describe the "lab rat" existence of these children without engaging in the boring scientific detail which some others might have thought necessary. It is a tradegy that is quite within the realm of reality with all of today's technology and the unfettered quest for progress and perfection.

Summary: A quick fun read
Review: This is a quick and easy read that is entertaining. I stayed up reading until I finished it...it's that kind of book. However, the overall plot is sort of cheesy. When you think about it when your done reading it, you think, "that was stupid." But it does get your attention and involve the reader to a certain extent.

Summary: DO YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRIES ? ? ?
Review: I liked this book. It is not about adults but about children with "Mensa" intelligence who have angelic like wings and are able to soar with the birds. These children are the result of genetic fiddling by Doctors who are trying to create the "super being". Sound familiar ? One of the children escapes from her oppressors and is rescued by a kind lady who loves all creatures great and small. To-gether with an F.B.I. agent, and after numerous misadventures, children and kind lady put paid to the bad guys and every one lives happily ever after.

This book is easy reading but leaves you with an uncomfortable feeling about to-day's science. Indeed, cloning is already a done deal. What else has been conceived in some twisted mind's laboratory somewhere on this planet of ours? Kinda shakes you up,does'nt it ?

Summary: Entertaining and Scary Possibilities
Review: I found the book to be an easy and fun read. It is one to relax with - straight forward plot and characters. But is also something to stretch your mind in thinking about what could be happening in the bio world.
