Summary: This is an important book for every child to read.
Review: I am studying to be an elementary teacher, and I read this book for a children's literature class. This book was very well written because it vividly shares the reality of life during the Holocaust while protecting young children from many of the details that might be too frightening for them. This book is unique because it gives a child's perspective of the Holocaust, detailing how living circumstances changed and how friends were taken away. I think that every child should read this book because children need to understand that the Holocaust was real and was not just some event in history. We should never forget the tragedy it was.

Review: Miranda likes this book because it was sad the way she has to leave her friend. Stephy loved it because she likes books about friendships and survival. Jenny likes it too because it showed trust between two families of friends. Amber thinks it's a good book the way it shows two friends who stick it out until the end. Megan feels it's a good book also because it gives a historical account of how Jews were treated in Denmark and it was a great book to read for a history report.

Summary: Too Straight Foreward
Review: I know this is because I read THE GIVER first but I expected a much more complex, compelling story, and this one is just a normal book. And I also thought it was pretty cheesy when Annemarie, the best runner in her school, had to run to save her friend. Lame chapter titles too (My Dogs Smell Meat!)

Review: The book is about a little girl named Anna Marie and her Jewish friend living in a time of war.Anna Marie must take in her friend from solider's ruining their country.I recommend this book for children 11-14yrs of age because it's a fantastic book and at parts are sad.It also helps you understand history.The characters are so beliveable in your mind.Read the book and understand history more.

I like this book because,a little girl Ellen is a Jew and she goes with her friend Anamarie and her family.It becomes a risky journey to be free.There are dangerous risk to be avoided to before they are free.

Review: This book is about how this girl, Annemarie, lives in the time of World War 2. Her family and her family's friends are going through hard times and hard challenges. I think this book is very sad, because innocent people are being killed minute after minute, for no reason. But hearing about what happened in our history is interesting. The characters in this story are troubled, scared, courageous, and brave. Annemarie, the main character, is trying to help her friends and family come out of this and stick together through it all. You have got to read this book! You'll like it a lot!
