Rating: Summary: who owns the power? Review: I'm interested in psychic ability (particularly my own), and found this book to be an interesting read. I would like to comment however, that although Rosemary has been kind enough to share with us her gift, and some tools of the trade, I did find that she waffled on too much about herself. I appreciated her insight, but wanted to know about ME, what can I do? Instead, I found that I was forced to compare myself to her, and subsequently judge myself by Rosemarys standards. On the other hand. It was easy to read. I was sorry for her bitterness (regarding her family, we've all had it hard at some stage - spilling your personal gripes in a book is a bit careless, and hurtful? )
Rating: Summary: Good, not great. Review: I've reached the final chapter of this book and i have to say that i'm quite underwhelmed. It does make various good points here and there, and perhaps things you will remember for a long time to come. However, there are so many other books that can be bought with 10 times as much profound information and half the price. So i would recomend this if you want to open your mind a little, but not if you're an expert on the spirituality subject.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing fact-checking and verifications Review: If an author can't get the quotes on which she bases some of her entire sections correct, she doesn't deserve to have been published. In Altea's book, she misquotes Gerard Manley Hopkins' "God's Grandeur." The line is "The world is charged with the grandeur of God." CHARGED. She proceeds to make an entire point using the line as "The world is changed with the grandeur of God." CHANGED. "The world is changed, blah blah blah. . . ." And I just turned to that page randomly. I could cite other typos and errors, as well. I could not believe that the book had not been edited or copyedited at all, but that's what has happened. I cannot trust anything this woman says in the book with a glaring misstatement like that. If she is that careless and can't read properly, well, why is she published? I didn't really click into any authenticity here, although I certainly believe in the existence and accessibility of God, the spirit world, the collective unconscious, and everything about healing oneself and accessing the flow state. Please go find one of the GOOD books about the topic, and show this publishing house that you will not support them by buying authors who are this careless.--Chantal Fox
Rating: Summary: Great for starters Review: If you want to know more about the powers within and you've never explored this part of yourself before, then this just might be the book for you. If however, you've delved into this area before, you'll find it wishy washy and wished that the author would just get to the point! With that in mind, I found it rather boring. I'm not one for books that tell me all about the authors life stories and I certainly didn't learn anything new. Definitely a book for people who are looking for a starting point in this subject.
Rating: Summary: MAY THE POWER BE WITH YOU Review: In straying into the realm of confusion, we have traded an appreciative awareness for a preoccupation with limited purposes: this is a current status for modern Man. A vast, integrated space has become narrowed down to a container of isolated things, including the divided mind-body. Don't you feel it? It is necessary to reverse this tendency, but without ignoring or perpetuating the separate elements which make up our present world-view. Rosemary Altea's work is as good a help as any. As soon as we begin to be 'aware of things', to 'see things', we have trouble. This is true in several senses. Outwardly, being aware of some specific situation sets up a series of related identifications and desires which eventually leads to a frustrating position. Inwardly, when we are meditating, we may think we're having great success because we are noting everything, counting all our thoughts. But this is not really 'paying attention' in any high sense... we are just playing games. If we have no control over our peace of mind, or our understanding, but must depend on others for these things -- even gifted authors such as Rosemary Altea -- can we really feel satisfied or secure? Surely not, otherwise you wouldn't be searching websites for the answer. Since so many possibilities are locked within our 'body' and 'mind', it is worthwhile for us to begin now to fully comprehend them -- and Altea's book may provide the first crutch... after that, it's up to you!
Rating: Summary: a BIG disappointment Review: In summary, the book is a very poor introduction for what it is supposed to be. As pointed out in another review, some facts do not even add up. I loved Rosemary's first and second book, but this one is not even worth the paper it is printed on. Really, a BIG disappointment for me.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: Interesting book, but I tired of her constant references to her childhood. She had a difficult childhood, no doubt, but for a person who is telling her readers to not live in the past, it seems she does a lot of it.
Rating: Summary: I guess Rosemary Altea is not my cup of tea...... Review: Perhaps I bought this book thinking it was something else. My understanding is that Rosemary Altea can be labelled a "psychic medium," and I thought this book would include discussions about the "Other Side" and how to reach them. I can see how someone who is more involved in spiritual healing could appreciate this book. However, when Altea talks about "little monsters" attacking her because she is "Miss Goodie Goodie"....Rosemary, that's where you lost me!
Rating: Summary: Rosemary is a wonderful writer Review: Some people say this book is a waste of time and that you can make things happen by thinking about it. These people are too short sighted to look inside themselves and believe. Rosemary talks about being "at home". I believe that is half of the struggle is believing and being conscious of our surroundings. I've had trouble with the exercises in the book. They are intensive and are not able to be done quickly. They aren't easy and they're not meant to be. Learning about ourselves is never easy. For me, just picking up the book and reading it, I've had the strangest sensations. I e-mailed Rosemary about it and she said many people have written to her expressing similar things. Don't expect miracles like being able to freely talk to loved ones who have passed, but expect insight into yourself and your life and the possibilities of the afterlife as Rosemary tells it. I recommend this book for anyone willing to believe in her writings in "The Eagle in the Rose" and the "Proud Spirit". This book is definitely worth a try. I am definitely a believer now.
Rating: Summary: Believe in Yourself, Believe in the Universe Review: Take the book as a journey to discover your inner feelings and thoughts. It's not about "talking to dead people" as one reviewer claimed. It's about talking to yourself, and discovering the senses within that remain largely unused throughout our human experiences here in this world. True, there may be discoveries than can lead you to a greater awareness of the spirit world, but Rosie's style is simple yet cautious. If you dig deep, and practice the exercises with an open mind, you'll find that her methods may not be as simple as projected on the surface. It takes a great deal of concentration. Try the book. Read the book. And then open your eyes to a richer universe that eluded you before ...
