Rating: Summary: Thrilling Book - Hard to put down Review: This book was recommended to me by Circle Books in Sarasota, FL and I am thrilled they did. This book was hard to put down, I found myself reading it at traffic lights, lunch breaks and whenever I had the chance. You could feel the tremendous pain of the victim, yet her strength and determination to seek "Retribution." Her interview of the arresting officer was so well portrayed I felt as though I was in the room during the interrogation. All in all I loved the book and can't wait for her next one. Bob McIntyre
Rating: Summary: Edge of your seat Review: This is going to make such an awesome movie! Can't wait til it's out. Man, I was on the edge of my seat. Reminds me of a cross between Thomas Harris, Dennis Lehane, and James Patterson.
Rating: Summary: SUPERB read! Review: Retribution was one of the best of it's kind, that I've ever read. Kept me turning pages night and day. If it's not on the best seller lists, someone's cookin' the books! HA! She is similar to Scottoline and, as much as I always await her books, will rush to buy any of Hoffman's, when and if she writes more.
Rating: Summary: Wow! A Page Turner! Review: Jilliane Hoffman sure knows entertainment. A fast paced extremely well written page turner! I just don't know what to do til next January for the sequel!
Rating: Summary: Retribution by J. P. Hoffman Review: I fist saw the book in the window of B & N on Fifth Avenue and said to a friend who I discussed the issues of publishing that this is an unknown name and yet it is in the windows which is a good thing so long as new writers get published. It was last week and then I saw the book in the store and read a jacket that sounded good enough to buy a book. Little did I know that I will read it unstoppable in 2 days and wish there was more. And once again I had a proof that woman's writing beats male prose nowadays. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Retribution Review: This was a real thriller!! I finished it in less than 2 days. I couldn't put it down. When I finally got the the end I was disappointed that it was over so quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would high recommend it to anyone that likes thrillers and mysteries. I look forward to reading anything else that this author might put forth. Good Job!
Rating: Summary: After A Dozen Years She's About to Get Even Review: After torture and rape in New York when she was law student Chole Larson leaves the city and eventually becomes a prosecutor in Florida's State Attorneys Office. Then she discovers that a man suspected of serial killings is the man who raped her a dozen years before and got away with it. Even though she doesn't really believe he's the killer she decides to follow through with the prosecution. I love courtroom thrillers, I love revenge thrillers, I loved this book and I think you will too.
Rating: Summary: Revenge is Mine Sayth the Lord, Well Maybe Not! Review: Chloe Larson is a stunning blond law student in New York who has everything going for her. Then she's attacked, tortured and raped by a guy with a knife and a clown mask. She's left with multiple stab wounds and unable to have children. To deal with the trauma she becomes someone else. Years later she's C.J. Townsend, assistant chief of the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. Then one days she hears a voice in court and she knows immediately that it's the man that had hurt her so, twelve years earlier. However the statute of limitations has run out on her rape, and if she tells anyone about it, the case will be taken away from her and she wants the man to go away for good, so she ignores the law, ignores her ethics and prosecutes the case. What happens next is what makes for good courtroom drama. This was an excellent read, but sadly the story could have maybe used just a tintsy weentzy bit more editing, but I'm sure Putnam will solve that problem by the next printing. Rating: Summary: Maybe Revenge isn't Always so Sweet Review: Chloe Larson was brutally attacked and raped by a knife wielding fiend in a clown's mask when she was a young law student in New York. Because of the rapist's knife, she is unable to have children. Years later she's a tough state's prosecutor in Miami dealing with a series of rape murders where the killer takes his victem's hearts. A tip leads the police to a suspect who has a heartless body of a new victim in the trunk of his car. During his arraignment Chloe hears his voice and knows right away he's the man who'd raped and knifed her all those years ago. She should take herself off the case, but instead she bends the law, ignores the ethics and gets a death penalty conviction. Then she finds out that even though he was a serial rapist, he was not the killer? Though I saw the ending miles away, it didn't make a bit of difference to this thoroughly enjoyable read. RETRIBUTION is a terrific debut novel and in my opinion worth all the hype. I can hardly wait for the movie. Reviewed by Lenore Douglass
