Summary: In a nutshell - beautiful
Review: Truly, I cannot come up with the right words to express the way this novel made me feel. It was almost magical - the romance expressed in this novel was utterly beautiful, beyond anything I have ever read before. The love expressed in this book was tender, tragic, and full of emotion. I am only 17, and yes, I am a hopeless romantic, but this novel was much more than a love story. It was a novel that taught how love can change lives, bring out the best in people, and how unexpected life can change. This novel was intriging - from the first word to the last. Though the book isn't huge in size, it didn't need to be. I put this book down feeling like the story ended with wonderful and powerful words. This book is about two teenagers, who hopelessly fall in love and start a soul-searching journey that I couldn't help but fall in love with. I truly love this book - I have read it twice, and I feel that anyone who appreciates a wonderfully written romance that is innocent and heartfelt, not in the least lustful, should read this book. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry, and in the end, you will be smiling.

Summary: The sweetest love story ever told...
Review: Attention readers: Invest in Kleenex! After reading this book, you will know the reason. Nicholas Sparks has such a gentle, sweet way with words. I thoroughly enjoyed A Walk to Remember, this beautiful love story that pulled me in from the start and held me in rapt attention throughout. So pull out your hankies and sit down for an enjoyable, emotionally charged read.

There was only one reason for 17-year-old high school Senior, Landon Carter, to enroll in Drama - a chance to take it easy for an hour. Plus there was only one other boy in a class full of girls, a benefit of the highest degree. Also in the class is Jamie Sullivan, the unpopular preacher's daughter who no one wants to hang around. She is also the only girl left when it comes time for the homecoming dance. Although not his first choice and the fact that he's running out of time, Landon asks Jamie to be his date. Her agreement became the crucial moment, the pedal that got the wheel to spinning, the stepping stone to one of the most beautiful and courageous love stories ever written.

What a valuable lesson this novel serves to teach. Those who may be different from us, status or otherwise, can be the most wonderful people to know. Jamie Sullivan is a character that is pure in heart and would be such a joy to spend a day with. There should be more people like her, and like Landon, a boy who took a chance on her and found a love unlike anything he'd ever known. I applaud Nicholas Sparks for writing this bittersweet and uplifting story. The time and tears spent on this novel was well worth it.

Summary: A Walk to Remember is a novel to remember
Review: A Walk to Remember is a fictional novel with more to offer than an average love story. Nicholas Sparks creates in-depth characters who are sensitive and receptive to life. The main character, Landon Carter, tells his story of self-exploration which dates back to the year 1958. Landon lives in the small town of Beaufort located in North Carolina. This setting is significant because it plays a large role in the kinds of relationships the characters have with each other. Being a small southern town, the people are close with one another and know everything about one another. Landon is a senior in high school who is searching for something. He bases many opinions on the way things look and tends to go along with the crowd. Landon's outlooks, and views on life change throughout the novel because of a special relationship with a character named Jamie Sullivan. Jamie is an admirable person who is self-confident, secure with herself, and entirely selfless. Being the daughter of a widowed Baptist minister, Jamie possesses a strong faith. She carries a Bible with her at school, cares for orphaned children, and rescues wounded animals. Jamie is different from the other girls at her high school. She doesn't pay attention to how her hair looks, or the latest fashion trends, she is entirely devoted to helping other people and putting others first. With a twist of fate, two opposite personalities are unpredictably brought together to form a unique relationship.

The story mainly focus's on the growth of Landon's character and the romantic relationship that is formed between Landon and Jamie. Through different events in the novel, the quality of Landon's character and the quality of the relationship improves. For example, Jamie brings Landon with her to the children's orphanage and this experience opens his eyes and causes him to be more sensitive. He not only changes himself by doing things with Jamie, he also learns from her forgiveness. In the first stage of their friendship, Landon mistreats her because he cares too much about what his peers think. Jamie possesses the quality of forgiveness and is able to pardon Landon for his actions even though she was deeply hurt. Landon falls in love with Jamie for her soul, and for her compassion. Jamie falls in love with Landon's sincerity and his ability to change and accept things. The two teenagers are inseparable and devote all of their time to each other. They share everything in each other's lives except one secret that Jamie has kept from the whole town including her soul-mate. In the end, Jamie is not strong enough to carry this heavy burden. She must rely on the sweet love of Landon to get her through her life-changing secret.

After I finished this novel, I felt as though I had been through so much. I felt the emotional effects of the story deeply. I was so attached to the novel; any moment of free time, I read a new chapter. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the story, I let myself become friends with the characters. When they were sad, I was down; when they were elated, I felt joy. This novel taps into human emotion so profoundly. I cried for twenty minutes at the end of the novel. It left such an impact on me. I felt such a connection to the growth the characters went through. I examined my own life and it caused me to be more conscience of certain aspects of my own character. Jamie's strong devotion to God helps me examine my own faith. I believe in God and I try to base my life around my dedication to a higher being. I admire Jamie for her altruistic ways of caring for others and putting other's needs before her own.

Landon learns so many truths about life, about love and about humanity. He learns what true and unconditional love is. He learns what it means to treat others with respect, and he learns to be confident with his own convictions. After finishing the story, I was left with a feeling and emotion of complete happiness. I was left smiling (even with tears streaming down my cheeks) at the lives of the characters. Landon has been through so much exploration and has found himself. He forgets the norm and rebels against trying to fit in. This touches me deeply because I understand how hard it is to soul-search; I understand how hard it is to look past the trivial events of high school and to be an individual. This novel is about growing up. It is hard for Jamie to rely on someone else to carry her secret. However, she is able to, and learns how important her soul-mate really is to her survival. He is the difference between living and dying. Through the life lessons, the spiritual epiphanies, and the self-discovery, I have never felt so connected with a novel. I can relate my life to the novel so easily and all of the events the characters go through. I will forever remember these two friends of mine. Even though they are literary characters, they have opened my eyes to a world of selflessness, devotion, and most importantly, yet simply, love.

Summary: A book to remember!
Review: I had previously read Message in a Bottle, (and seen the movie too) and The Notebook, and absolutely enjoyed both, so I was fairly comfortable in believing that I'd like this one too. I had bought it for a friend at Christmas, and she finally gave it to me to read. I started it on a wednesday morning, and was finished by thursday evening. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster, as do all of Sparks books. But in the end, you feel uplifted, not drained. You believe in goodness, and love. You genuinely like the characters, even the crusty old preacher/dad Hegbert in the end. The story that unfolds between Jamie and Landon, is believable and heart warming, and you'll wish the book were longer to enjoy it even more.

Summary: Predictable - not up to Sparks' usual standards
Review: Although this novel is very tenderly written and Nicholas sparks makes a very good effort at writing from the perspective of 1950s 17 year old teenagers, the plot is just too lame and weighs the whole thing down. The signposting is too obvious - anyone but an idiot would not guess what was wrong with Jamie and how it would end with her final wish...

I can't believe they are making a movie of this given that it will be pretty much exactly like the movie "Here on Earth". Oh well good luck to them - but it's a real shame that the quality of writing is wasted on a substandard plot. There are some touching moments, but as I say, the signposting ruins it all.

Summary: Review of A Walk to Remember
Review: A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks was intriguing and inspirational. This book gave the reader a true insight to each character, especially the protagonist, a teenage boy who is trying to find himself. Sparks is a talented writer who displays many literary techniques. The author used first person narrative, in which the story was told from a teenage boy's perspective. As a reader, you grew through the experiences and commentary of the narrator. Spark's writing style is very detailed and it delivers a very direct message. His writing is not very complex or challenging, however, he has the ability to completely capture the attention of a reader. Spark's is a very deep individual. It is as if he has captured the meaning of falling in love and loving those people for who they truly are. He uses a great deal of narrative commentary, allowing the reader to gain and to grow from the characters' thoughts. He also uses allusions to the bible towards the end of the novel. There are many passages in the book from Psalms and Proverbs. These allusions challenge the reader to focus on what the character is thinking and experiencing. Sparks delivered many inspirational themes throughout the novel. There was a definite theme of love, and also a theme of the ability to learn to look beyond what society has stereotyped a person to be. A young teenage couple falls in love and the boy overcomes the fact that he is falling for a reverend's daughter who has been stereotyped as a "goody goody nerd." This book is a definite page-turner, which will bring a tear to the reader's eye and give him or her a whole new perspective of what it means to fall in love.

Summary: A Walk to Remember
Review: Nicholas Sparks successfully wrote this novel to inspire and acquire a large audience that would recommend it to others. This novel incorporates its title throughout, to make it an interesting reading. By continually using walks with main characters (Landon and Jamie) you are left in suspense to discover the "Walk to Remember". The main theme is finding love. However, many twists are added that make finding love and falling in love the most difficult thing in the main character Landons seventeenth year. One twist being that Landon and Jamie are contrasting characters, and neither of them nor the reader expects the outcome. Another twist is the contrast in both Landon and Jamie's families. The author also uses religion to separate Landon and Jamie. But ironically uses a bible of Jamies late mother to bring them closer. However, by far the best part and writing of the novel is the ending chapters. The end of the novel is the most inspiring part of the novel, leaving you in hopes that you will have the miracle of falling in love at least once in your life. The ending is written to bring tears to almost anyone's eyes. After finishing the last line I found myself rereading the final chapters. I would recommend this novel to anyone who has fallen in love, or to those who find themselves still searching for love.

Summary: My thoughts and emotions of "A Walk to Remember"...7
Review: All throughout the book my emotions were changing. At some points I was laughing, some crying, and I was even angry at some points. Having these different feelings are what led me to fall in love with the book. The different backgrounds of Landon and Jaime made me wonder how the two ever fell in love. My question was answered when I learned to realize that Landon fell in love with Jaime after finding out who she really was inside. While reading the book, two themes ran through my mind. Hegbert, Jaime's father, and his unconditional love for his daughter was the first one. He wanted her to be safe and not fall in love only to get hurt. Just reading about his love for Jaime made me think about how lucky I am to have a father that loves me that way. Jamie's persistant and consistant faith was the second one. Her faith taught me that you don't have to be ashamed to follow what you believe. This book was exciting, but also sad. It taught me lessons that I can carry with me. I enjoyed this book, and was amazed at how good it was.
