Summary: Another winner from Michael Connelly
Review: Connelly continues his first rate series concerning Harry Boesch and the L.A.P.D. As usual with Connelly, the plotting is tight and the story moves at a fast pace. This Boesch story is especially compelling with its focus on the Los Angeles racial tensions between Blacks and the Police. A prominent Black attorney is murdered on the eve of an important civil rights case which may seriously tarnish the reputation of the L.A.P.D. Connelly masterfully mines this fertile material for maximum impact and relevance to the current racial climate in Los Angeles. As usual, Harry Boesch is an excellent character who brings some compassion and humanity into another ugly situation. This is one of Connelly's best books.

Summary: Has Connelly Lost His Edge?
Review: While I eagerly awaited Bosch's return in Angels Flight I was somewhat disappointed in what I found between the covers. I hate to have to give this book a mediocre review.

Where did the Harry that I had grown to love go? It seemed as though his gritty, hard edged character has softened and in doing so become a bit bland.

I honestly, had to skim through several parts of this book because I just couldn't get into it. I am a huge fan of Connelly's and I just hope that Void Moon will take us back to the Connelly we know and love - hey, everyone is allowed to make a mistake, right?

If you are a Bosch fan then you should read Angels Flight but if not go back a read some of Connelly's older books first.

Summary: 5 stars for story, but I do have a quibble
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed "Angel's Flight" as a Harry Bosch page-turner. But as a resident (and former reporter) in Los Angeles, Connelly should know better -- it is Grand AVENUE, not Grand STREET, and it is the Museum of CONTEMPORARY Art, not the Museum of MODERN Art (in New York). And the fact-checker at the publisher's office should truly have done his/her job more thoroughly. This is sloppiness, pure and simple, and both errors popping up on the first couple pages made me so angry I actually put the book down and didn't read it for a couple of months. Call me a nit-picker, but as a writer myself (both published and produced), this kind of error is something I find inexcusable.

As a Bosch novel/mystery, though, it was terrific. Not my very favorite, but near the top.

Summary: Very good mystery...
Review: I typically like books with a lot of action, and in fact had just finished listening to one when I settled down with this book. I must admit that during the first few minutes of the book (I listened to the unabridged audiobook version) I was hoping for more action. But then I was sucked in by the storyline and from that point forward I was along for the ride of what turned out to be a darned good mystery story. Not one part of this book bored me or seemed to move too slow. The pace was excellent, the clues and details were revealed at the appropriate times, and the development of the characters and the issues they were dealing all fit together perfectly. And when I thought I had everything all figured out, the author still had a few surprises left. This book is how a good mystery should be written. I highly recommend it.

Summary: This book is a must read mystery.
Review: Angel's Flight is a book that I could not put down. I started reading it by the recommendation of my mother and sister. The mystery builds its self at a wonderful rate and the suspense that fills the end is almost unbearable. The side conflict with Bosch's wife and his friend being accused of the crime are outstanding extras. This book is truely one that makes you think and I highly recommend it for anyone to read.

Summary: Another kick-a** mystery from Michael Connelly
Review: I have been a Michael Connelly fan since I read a beat-up second hand copy of "The Black Echo" three or four years ago. Although I didn't much like his last novel "Bloodworks". I am pleased to announced that bringing back Harry Bocsh has put Connelly back on track. "Angel's Flight" is a superbly seamy, densely plotted noir replete with corruption perversion and murder in high places. The plot twists nicely in many places, and although I had a glimmering of who the killer was early on, it had enough surprises to keep me going. Yes, Bocsh wasn't his old feisty self, but it was obvious he was not at his best as the story was going on and it took all he had to just concentrate on solving the case. Give the guy a break , will ya? My only complaint (and it seems I'm in a distinct minority) is that I've liked the character of Eleanor Wish (Bocsh's wife) and I wish they had more of her. They have way, way to much history together for Connelly to blow her off. He should either bring her back, or (better still) put her in her own book.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!!!!!
Review: This was the first Michael Connelly book I read and I was quite pleased. It kept my attention until the very end when I still had a few surprises in store for me. I wish the relationship btw his wife and Bosch had taken a different road but...... I guess nothing every works out perfect. I look forward to reading more of his novels in the future.

Summary: Michael Connely is absolutely the best
Review: Angel's Flight is as wonderful as all of Michael Connelly's books. I read them all and he has never disappointed me. This latest one is definitely a winner.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Superb plot with a great LAPD story-line.
Review: Once again Michael Connely has provided his followers with a novel that you can't put down... but don't really want it to end either. The characters are perfect and political tone is accurate LA.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Tight, tense and vivid... Twisting and unpredictable...
Review: Bosch continues his love/hate relationship with the City of Angels. Great crime novel; Tightly, tensely woven; plenty of twists to keep you interested till you've turned the final page. Plus: living in Los Angeles, the historic locations where the novel is set got me interested in further exploring its ecclectic sites and personality... LA is one of the primary characters that makes this book rock! Connelly's tops.
