Summary: Excellent Hard Boiled Detective Thriller
Review: My first experience with Connelly's Harry Bosch, and damn I'm impressed. Ellroy is the man, but Connelly may be one of the best in his own right. Looking forward to many more stories with Harry Bosch, one of the more intriguing characters I've read in a long time. The story rips along at a buzz-saw pace, intelligently written, with humourous quips and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the last chapter. This is what great detective fiction is all about, and ANGELS FLIGHT delivers.

Summary: Best since The Concrete Blonde
Review: This is a very very good book...In my opinion, COnnelly's best book since the excellent "The Concrete Blonde" (although not QUITE as good...)The plot is excellent, and it moves with great pace. It's exciting, well constructed, and a mystery to the last. Connelly just carries on pulling surprises out of the bag right through the book. Bosch is on fine form, although i seemed to get the sense that he's mellowing a little...(although, upon the ending, that notion was dispelled slightly!) The developments in his relationship with Eleanor are surprisingly moving, and i woudl like to read a lot more about that side of his personal life... This is a first-class crime novel, in line with some of the best in the genre. (Which is encouraging for me to say, as i was rather disappointed and, frankly, a bit bored, by his last Bosch, Trunk Music.) you want my advice, you read this book.

Summary: Awesome Story
Review: This was definitely one of the best stories I've ever listened to. Great murder mystery with so many twists and turns that you don't know which way you are going, and just when you think it's all wrapped up it turns again. I will definitely be looking into more of the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, because the character is so real, he has regular emotions and his dialogue is natural. I highly recommend this book whether it be audio or paper, get this one you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Believable insights into big city police investigations
Review: This is the third Michael Connelly novel, and the second featuring Harry Bosch, that I've read, and I continue to be impressed by this author's skill. In fact, I think I'm getting addicted to it, having read three of his books in a week's time. I've ridden Angel's Flight and am familiar with the basic L. A. area, so Connelly's descriptions definitely hit home. It's always enjoyable to be able to picture the areas mentioned through having been there. I'm becoming increasingly impressed with Connelly's description and perspective of investigations. The policemen in his books are not simple good and bad stereotypes. They are living breathing individuals, and the author is imminently fair in his portrayals. After reading a Bosch novel, it's easier to consider the different views of right and of wrong. Connelly makes it easier to have an insight into all the factors of police investigations and of the behaviours of the law enforcers. We can more easily see that it's not always that easy to determine what's right and what's wrong. In this particular novel, you find yourself admiring some aspects of the victim while seeing other aspects that are less admirable. And this is important to my own enjoyment of the story. Not to say that there aren't some characters that appear to have no redemptive qualities at all. But he is fair with most of the characters so that you can understand why they make some of the decisions and perform some of the actions they do. And of course, there is the constantly twisting and turning plot that's been in every Connelly book I've read yet. He hasn't yet failed to mislead me through part of a book...in fact, I went rather far afield in this one, certain that I saw through some of his misdirection. However, after being misled, I find that he has been playing fair. If you're looking for crime fiction that will make you think, that will challenge your deductive abilities and will also cause you to speculate on the ethical implications, you should enjoy this book.

Summary: Just read it for the second time
Review: I'm not going to bore you with yet another "bookjacket-style" review; I won't force you to wade through paragraphs of somebody's idea of literary criticism. I'm just saying that I really admired this book; you just can't touch Connelly's style and craftsmanship here. Buying the hardcover was a good investment; I'll certainly read this book again sometime. My only beef against Connelly is that he doesn't write three or four books per year, but I guess you can't have everything. I'd buy any book by this guy, in hardback, without checking first in Amazon for opinions - I wouldn't say that about many fiction authors.

He is today's king, and Angels Flight, involving the murder of a high-profile African-American attorney is one of his best Harry Bosch adventures. Capturing the LA of today, with its mixture of ethnicities and more than a touch history, Angels Flight is a top flight mystery. It is a book for the angels.

Review: I am reading all of Michael Connellys books now. Non-stop. I have not had such a great adventure like these for years, since perhaps I read Ross MacDonald. Don't miss this book.

Summary: Once again, Connelly does not disappoint
Review: This is my fourth Connelly book, and it's another winner. He writes mystery novels different than the rest of them, because there are no easy answers, and no cop is a superman. Detective Heironymus Bosch has been in many of Connelly's previous books, and this time he's investigating the murder of a high-profile black lawyer named Howard Elias, who was in the middle of a lawsuit against the LAPD. Needless to say, there are many people who would want Elias dead, several of them cops. But for Michael Connelly, there are no easy answers. Red herrings abound in this story, and Bosch is further distracted by his relationship with his estranged wife. Add to that a murder case steeped in pedophilia, powers-that-be in the LAPD who want the case solved as quickly as possible, high-price internet callgirls, dirty cops...and you've got a complicated case that could spark inner-city riots if it's not solved to everyone's satisfaction. If you like this book, I recommend the other Connelly books I've read..."Blood Work," "A Darkness More Than Night" and "Trunk Music." Connelly's work is gritty, realistic, and sometimes very funny. A fantastic writer.
