Rating: Summary: Putting it all together Review: Scott Hahn's "The Lamb's Supper" is an enlightening book showing the connection between the book of Revelation and the celebration of the Mass written in Scott's typically colloquial style. I got more out of Mass the very first Sunday after reading it! Scott takes a notoriously confusing book from the bible and clarifies it for the average person. Another great Scott Hahn book. Is there any other kind?
Rating: Summary: BRAVO, Professor Hahn! A BRILLIANT & WONDERFUL Work, indeed! Review: With his exceptional knowledge and understanding of Sacred Scripture, the once Evangelical Protestant who converted to the Roman Catholic Faith, Dr. Hahn presents the reader with an indepth explanation of The Catholic Mass as it relates to the book of Revelations. Catholicism's most renowned Apologist (or Defender of The Faith) "walks" the reader through both, The Catholic Liturgy and The Book of Revelations, taking the key points and symbols of St. John the Evangelist's writings and shows, categorically, the Biblical/Scriptural basis for the Catholic Mass.Extremely thorough and informative; this valuable book, along with the "Catechism of the Catholic Church", belongs in every Catholic home. I've already purchased a copy for a friend and plan on getting more to give out as gifts. A definite Page-Turner; this book will enlighten, not only Catholic Christians, but ALL Christians as well. ~ ~ Note to Priests, Spiritual/Religious Ed. Directors and Catechists: This book is very IMPORTANT (even crucial) for educating students and RCIA Candidates on the Sacrafice of the Mass; Especially, the "Meaning" of the Mass.*** Thank You and God Bless! ~ IHSHA ~
Rating: Summary: Another MASTERPIECE by Senior Apologist, Dr. HAHN! :) Review: A MUST for any Catholic Apologist; from Beginner to Master! Dr. Hahn, one of Catholicism's most revered Apologists, once again, turns out a masterpiece! A tremendously rich and informative source of Catholic Truth! Not only for the Apologist; this book is a fantastic resource for Priests, Religious, Catechists and Catholic Laymen, alike. In this easy to comprehend book, Dr. Hahn explores the Book of Revelations and shows how it matches the Catholic Mass in every way. Literally, it is a wonderful guide to understanding the Holy Sacrafice of the Mass! I HIGHLY recommend this book. DMShae
Rating: Summary: Wake Up in Those Pews! Review: Every Catholic should read this book to better understand the Mass and its significance in our faith. With clarity, scholarly authority and humor, Scott Hahn explains the ancient Church traditions that created the Mass and how it is tied to the Book of Revelation. As an inspirational author myself (NEW PSALMS FOR NEW MOMS: A KEEPSAKE JOURNAL)I applaud Hahn's efforts to teach us more about ourselves! Instead of empty ritual, we now see all of the majesty and significance of the Mass. It challenges those of us in the pews to fully participate in this magnificent mystery each and every time we go to Mass. Heaven opens its doors to us -- Hallelujah!
Rating: Summary: This book made me feel born again to my Catholic Faith Review: Scott Hahn is a very gifted writer who helped me to understand the real purpose of the Catholic Mass. In a very clear, concise manner that does not belittle the reader, Mr. Hahn explains the background and tradition behind some of the most common practices in the Catholic Sunday Mass. After reading this book, I have understood for the first time in my 36 plus years of catholic existance how some of the rituals - which I once saw as pointless repetitive tasks - I participate at Mass are really a means to prepare us for the mass ,,,or Heaven on Earth. I can not recommend this book enough for a fellow Catholic, Christian, or Spiritual Soul.
Rating: Summary: A Book That Could Change Your Life Review: Having listened to many of Scott Hahn's tapes and read all his books so far (I guess you could call me a fan), I was eager to read The Lamb's Supper. It was not a disappointment; Scott Hahn is in fine form here. The fact that there is only a hardcover available made me hesitate before actually buying a copy. But, I figured: I do intend to keep this book for life, right? So, why not? Well, no regrets. Scott Hahn has spoken of the link between the Book of Revelations and the Liturgy in other tapes, books and articles. Thankfully, this book is not a wholesale repetition. It is different. Some parts work well for study. It would be good to have your Bible close at hand to check references. But, on the whole, I felt that he was more 'sermon-like' in this book than in anything I've ever read by him before. There was much food for thought, much that spoke to the heart. This book should not be rushed through. I have finished the book. But the book is not finished with me.
Rating: Summary: That They May All Be One... Review: Dr. Hahn's work is not new, but is has been a Catholic position since the book of Revelation's beginning. Read this book, then read the bible, then go to mass and you will see that the book of Revelation is indeed a blueprint for the mass!
Rating: Summary: Read it. Highlighted much of it. Re-read it. Review: A must for anyone who truly wants to understand the liturgy of the Catholic Mass. As a convert, Scott Hahn brings a perspective to the liturgy that many of us cradle Catholics need to see. He explains in uncomplicated detail the Church's understanding of the liturgy of the Mass and how it is related to the Book of Revelation. In his analysis, he demonstrates what the early Church fathers saw in the liturgy of the Mass. An excellent reference for anyone, Catholics and non-catholics alike, wanting to have a deeper understanding of the Liturgy of the Catholic Mass.
Rating: Summary: THE book on the Mass Review: I am reading a third book by Scott Hahn. The Lamb's Supper is the one that gave the impetus. I have never felt so in tune with my faith as I have since reading this book. In the manner of a true theologian, but not over the head of his reader, Mr. Hahn brings into focus the truest sacrifice. This is a must for anyone who is Catholic or even slightly interested in the Catholic faith.
Rating: Summary: Much Valuable Insight Review: I enjoyed this book immensely. I recommend it to all my friends. However, Hahn's efforts to make the book enjoyable and readabble have come at a price, albeit a small price. Some of the ideas and concepts in this book are speculative and appear presented as fact. It is hard to discern where the Fathers stop and Hahn begins in some of the commentary. This is not to say that you should not get this book. On the contrary, I recommend this book. The weight of the content far outweights the occasional speculative wanderings. With this in mind, the reader will not get swept away into the speculations presented, and will truly gain some very valuable insight into the Mass. It has given me new insight into the Mass, and has made the Mass a much more fluid thing, more a logical procession from one step to the next, rather than a grocery list of things to do. I can say that this book gave me a dynamic "feel" for the Mass.
