Rating: Summary: Mary Higgins Clark...does it once again Review: i have been reading mary higgins clark since i was in the 6th grade, (i am now going to be a sophmore in high school). I absolutely love reading her books, i can never put them down. She always has the way of leaving you little clues but yet you are always surprised at the ending she unfolds. All of the books i have read of hers are absolutley page turning. Once you start you can't stop. Mary has a magical way of pulling you into the book and blocking out everything else, getting you anxious, nervous and making it feel almost as if you are there. i recommend any of Marys books, even though i haven't read them all, because i know she is just so good they are going to be too. if you love mysteries, and thrillers, you will love her books....enjoy
Rating: Summary: Truly Thrilling Review: This was my first book by Mary Higgins Clark, but certainly not my last. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The characters were well thought out, interesting people and the plot was wildly unique. This book kept me reading and is a murder mystery book that should always be remembered!
Rating: Summary: WHOA... it scared me Review: Typical of Mary Higgins Clark, this book makes you listen for every sound your house makes. Every shadow becomes someone lurking in a corner. Every siren you hear indicates something terrible has happened in town again. If you like to be shook up by a great book, pick this one up.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: Wow! I have only read two of Mary Higgins Clark's books, and I am looking foward to reading the rest. This book is incredible. It is mind boggling from the start, and very interesting. Especially how someone could become another person who died 100 years ago. I enjoyed this novel and I would recommend it to any mystery lover.
Rating: Summary: Interesting from the start Review: Esteemed attorney Emily Graham has just moved from New York City, to a Spring Lake, a small town on the east coast-also the hometown of her relatives. After a rough divorce from her sleazy husband, a messy trial for a murder, and her own struggle with a stalker, Emily is finally able to settle down at another firm in Spring Lake and relax after buying the house her family owned in the 19th century. Soon after her move, a pool is being excavated in her back yard and the remains of two people are uncovered. One four years old, the other 200. Soon, Emily finds herself in the middle of an enormous investigation of the disappearances and apparent deaths of two young women, one a stranger and the other, a member of her own family. But when more bodies are discovered and mysterious photos of herself are slipped into her mail, Emily begins to worry for her safety. A very interesting story that gripped me from beginning to end. I found Emily, the main character, very likeable and was constantly thrown off by the red-herrings that Clark placed so ingeniously. I only gave the book three stars because the police detectives seemed to be focused on much more than the main character who I would have liked to follow more. Also, there are many references to law and government that may be more difficult for some readers to take. All around, I enjoyed the book, though I believe that Mary Higgins Clark may be a BIT over-publicized.
Rating: Summary: Past Meets the Present Review: After all these years, Mary Higgins Clark is still at the top of her game. I enjoyed this story even though I figured out whodunit early in the game. Emily Graham purchases a home where an actual ancestor disappeared many years ago without a trace. Bodies of women are turning up (some who've been dead for many years and other more recent). The media is calling it a reincarnated serial murder but how are today's crime connected with yesterday's disappearances? Finding out whodunit takes us through many twists and turns but I must say I was very fond of this novel and I think you will be too. Keep up the good work Ms. Higgins Clark.
Rating: Summary: Good, Light mystery... Review: Like most Mary Higgins Clark books, this one is a good, fast read and a good mystery. I thought I had the crime figured out and then changed my mind about 4 times, not knowing until the end which of my theories was correct. The main character, Emily changes jobs, sells some stock and moves to a quaint New Jersey seaside town where her ancestors had lived 100 years ago. A series of recent crimes has policed baffeld, and the town in a panic. The most eerie aspect of the crimes is their link and similarity to a series of crimes that took place 100 years ago involving one of Emily's ancestors and several other young women in the town at that time. There are a couple of side plots to keep you going as well. I would say this is one of her better books with a more involved plot than most. Clark is always a good standby!
Rating: Summary: Another great read by Mary Higgins Clark Review: I really enjoy reading mystery novels by Mary Higggins Clark whether it be for a school assignment or for fun while on the beach for a vacation. Every time I read one of Clark's novels, I say to myself that it was the best one yet. This is very true about On the Street Where You Live. This book was suspenseful until the very end, as all of Clark's novels are. This one, in particular, kept me guessing until the last few chapters. Usually, I have a slight idea as to what the end is going to be, but during this novel, I was clueless. However, I gave this book four stars only because there were a lot of characters. It was sometimes difficult for me to remember who everyone was, what their purpose was, and how they related to the main character, Emily Graham. To me, this was the only downside to this novel. So, if you can keep your characters straight, and enjoy reading mysteries, this is definitely the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: On The Street Where You Live is a very good book. I read books all the time, but it has been awhile since I have read a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat and reading into the early hours of the morning. You think you can follow who the killer or stalker are, but it is harder to do than you think. Both ended up being someone who wouldn't have thought of. This book is a very good read.
Rating: Summary: On the street where you live Review: I have enjoyed Ms Higgins Clark's early books immensely. They seem well researched and take the reader into a number of different worlds eg hospital, health spa, politics etc. It's disappointing to read her later novels which are very superficial by comparison. This one, in particular, is filled with numerous characters and suspicions and counter-suspicions, but no real depth to the people portrayed. Unfortunately this produced a very unsatisfying read.
