Rating: Summary: AN ENJOYABLE SUMMER READ Review: I look forward to MHC's novels with great anticipation! Her main character Emily is like many of those in her past books, a young successful career woman with time to investigate a murder. I liked the reincarnation twist, but I am partial to her stories set in Manhattan. This one had many twists, and kept me guessing about who the killer/stalker was. It wasn't my favorite of her books, but well worth the time. An enjoyable summer read!
Rating: Summary: Another good mystery! Review: This is another Mary Higgins Clark that you won't want to put down until you finish.
Rating: Summary: Her best book in years Review: Intriguing, imaginative story, memorable characters, and a suprising denouement make for great entertainment. Our heroine (as always a 30ish beautiful brunette)investigates two series of serial killings---one in the late 19th century and one in the present. The connection between the two is deftly handled. I read the book in one weekend. There are a couple of loose ends but MHC deserves to sell as many books as she does. Well done!
Rating: Summary: Guaranteed page turner Review: On The Street Where You Live is about Emily Graham. A lawyer who has moved to Spring Lake, New Jersey. She has bought a home that belonged in the family in the 1800's. During the 1890's, three girls disappeared and were thought to be murdered. One hundred plus years later two girls have disappeared and the question is will there be a third? Some people think a reincarnated killer is on the prowl of the quiet seaside town. Emily is leading her own investigation to see if she can solve the crimes. After the discovery in her own backyard everyone becomes a suspect. This book was like the early Mary Higgins Clark books. It has everything a classic MHC book has: good plot development, events happening at a quick pace so the reader doesn't have time to get bored, lots of characters (which makes guessing whodunit a lot more difficult)and above all else SUSPENSE!! I could not put this book down. I had to find out who the murderer was!! Ms. Clark did an excellent job of writing about all the characters in a way that made it impossible to guess until the end who committed the crimes. The reader guesses it's one character and then you turn the page and begin to wonder if it's another. I love that about her books. It makes reading them so much fun. In addition, this book seemed to be well thought out. The plot was interesting and the subject of people being reincarnated and coming back years later added to the story. It made for very interesting reading. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, seasoned or first-time MHC reader!
Rating: Summary: MARY HIGGANS CLARK HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! Review: I started reading this book when I bought it and finished it that day. Its one of my favorite books i have ever read. She is one of the best authors in the world and maybe is. I HIGHLY suggest any who loves mysteries / loves mary higgans clark read this book.
Rating: Summary: An unpredictably unpredictable tale of unpredictability. Review: This is my second tale from the Queen of Suspense--the other was the dragging STILLWATCH. Unlike STILLWATCH, ON THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE is amazing--so suspenseful. I definitely look forward to her upcoming works and BEFORE I SAY GOOD-BYE. Mary Higgins Clark is now one of my favorite authors--can I even say that if I only read two of her novels?
Rating: Summary: A little disappointing Review: I'm a fan of MHC, but I agree this was not her best work. If I was able to give this 3 1/2 stars instead of four I would. The main character, Emily Graham, was like a drive by shooting, you see her but don't really get to know her. Only the most pertinent facts are revealed and you're left not really knowing what she's like or much of her past. I felt I knew more of the other characters than of Emily. The plot is the usual, there is a crime and professional career woman plays amateur detective to find a murderer all the while being stalked by some lunatic. How many times can this plot be rehashed, with out alienating readers? If you have some time on your hands read this book, otherwise wait for the next to (hopefully) be better.
Rating: Summary: Suspense Throughout Review: This book kept me interested the whole time. I thought this was one of Clarks best books to date. It kept me wondering troughout and I never wanted to put it down. This book goes through the past as well as the present and will keep you wondering about the twist at the end long after you finish it... As normal, she makes the reader suspect more than one character. Just when you think that you have it all figured out she throws in a twist that makes you second guess your decision. This will serve as a great summer read. However, it only took me a little less than 2 days to finish it...
Rating: Summary: Disappointment with my favorite author's latest Review: I can't usually wait until Mary's newest book arrives, so with great expectation I dove into this one. At first it was as I expected, and I was enjoying the storyline, but then there seemsed to be new characters in almost every chapture. I became less & less involved, interested, in trying to keep up with who was who and he/she went, came here or was going there. It was confusing and not her usual writing 'greatness' in my opinion. I wish she would get back to more mystery/love storylines like the 'old' days. Books I really enjoyed were:'Where Are The Children', etc. I have read and own every one of her books, so I am a great fan of yours Mary! I know it's in you... please give it to us. Your faithful readers & friends!
Rating: Summary: Decent Review: The book was written well, and kept me reading. The only thing that bothered me was how it wasn't as suspenseful as the others. I figured out the murderer quickly, and was quite disappointed.
