Rating: Summary: worth the wait Review: after a seemingly eternal wait (so i finished conspiracy in august and have been dying for this since), loyalty in death is good. really good. the relationship between dallas and roarke becomes even better defined and strengthened by the events here. that they come to a real understanding and acceptance of each other by the end, which was really well done by the way, makes this a must-read for all jd robb fans. and if it's true that this is #9 and therefore the last of the "- in death" series, which i can sort of believe seeing as how there wasn't a preview of #10, then what a hell of a way to go. thank you jd robb
Rating: Summary: Ultra! Mag! Ice! Review: JD Robb has done it again. In her tenth In Death book Robb has again been able to engage the reader in the lives , the loves and the work of Eve, Rourke, Mavis, Peabody, Feeney, McNab, Mira, and the rest. I don't think I could ever get tired of this series or this author. I've loved her work as JD Robb and I love her work as Nora Roberts. She goes from strength to strength and I read on in awe. I look forward to another In Death book soon. And a little Rourke wouldn't go amiss. And I'm intrigued by the memories Eve is getting that we were allowed to peak at, are we going to eventually get complete answers to her first eight years? I'm psyched! Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! And in the words of Mavis the cool, "The absolute Ult!"
Rating: Summary: Another Robb winner! Review: I am not a fan of futuristic books until I read the first In Death book and I have been hooked ever since. This book was a great read. I like the way Robb draws you into the story from page one and keeps your interest for the rest of this book. Her secondary characters are great and she involves them in all her stories and The Eve/Roarke relationship is great and this time she puts some rocks on their road to happiness but they overcome their difficulties. Read this book in 2 days. Great book and mystery.
Rating: Summary: J.D Robb has another great futuristic mystery Review: Though technology has made incredible advances over the centuries, people from various eras seem to behave the same. In the latter part of the twenty-first century, crime runs rampart in the Big Apple. Guns may be banned, but murder still occurs at an alarming rate with some culprits using ingenious methods to accomplish their nefarious deeds. For instance, the mistress of J. Clarance Bronson felt her lover was cheating on her. She simply took her paramour's power drill and riveted him to a wall. Though everyone believes Bronson was a faithful person, police Lieutenant Eve Dallas thinks there must be more to this story. However, Eve leaves the Bronson case on hold to deal with a paramilitary fringe group, Cassandra, who wants to depose the government. The group has challenged Eve to a contest in which the stake is to see how quickly they can destroy her. The group terrorizes the city by blowing up abandoned buildings and highly populated landmarks without a conscious look back at the impact on innocent people. Billionaire Rourke helps his beloved wife Dallas as they close in on a dangerous group of terrorists, not yet knowing that this will lead them to an even more menacing radical gang. J.D. Robb continues to provide freshness to her ongoing "Death" series by spotlighting other recurring characters like an aide and a fellow officer. The complex who-done-it is entertaining as it focuses on a "history" that occurred earlier in the twenty-first century. Ms. Robb delights her fans with the next installment in her futuristic saga. Rating: Summary: Another winner! Review: I havent been disappointed yet with the In Death series. In this one, Eve takes on a terrorist group with old roots and a new plan. We get to meet one of Peabody's brothers, and her character is fleshed out quite a bit. The story really revolves around Eve (and Roarke) and Peabody, with Feeney, McNab (of whom we see more than usual), Mavis, Nadine, and Mira all showing up. Unfortunately, we barely see Summerset at all. This one feels more like a mystery, with some interesting twists and turns. Nora Roberts (JD Robb) has a talent for towing the reader behind Eve, and you feel a bit like Peabody - a step or two behind. But the ride is a thrill! I cant wait for another of these. I read this one straight through the moment I got it.
Rating: Summary: Another "Death" series winner... Review: Jd Robb's 9th entry in her "Death" series has Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke receiving threatening letters from a terrorist group. Each letter brings about a public threat/bomb that threatens civilians, property and the city. Like all the "Death" novels, the mystery and relationship between Eve and her husband are effectively blended. There is also a subplot involving Eve's police partner, Peabody and her brother. The main plot of the terrrorist threats and the subplot advance and blend seamlessly--until the end where they are eventually connected and intertwined. Its nice to get some background on Peabody and her life--each book in the series gives us more and more information on the secondary characters. In the wake of 9/11, I found that the plot of the book hit all too close to home, as New York was again targeted by terrorists. It was almost painful to read about the bombs and chilling when they go off and harm innocent civilians. Loyalty in Death is definately one of the better novels in this series.
Rating: Summary: Loved It to "Death"ÿ Review: I too have read all of the "death" series by JD Robb and have enjoyed all of them. Loyalty was as well written and enjoyable as all of the rest. The only fault that I had was nothing about the next book in the series. What's up with that? This was the only time that there was no teaser at the end of the book. I was very disappointed as I'm sure a lot of readers were. I love it that Peabody has a new love interest with McNab. He is so funny. The relationship that Peabody had with Charles would have gone nowhere. Can't Nora Roberts write more of these books and issue them faster? I can hardly wait for the next issue to come out. This is my favorite series of books. Keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: We want more Delia Peabody! Review: Since J.D. Robb decided early in this series to split the Lieutenant Eve Dallas / Feeney team, introducing Peabody as Eve's new partner instead, we have been seeing this funny and appealing character (Delia Peabody) obtain more and more significance in the story line. In this case we witness a significant leap in Peabody's relevance with her having to face two different issues besides the current case in which she is involved assisting Eve. The first one is that McNabb (Feeney's current aide / partner) is finally accepting that he is in love with Peabody and has started to look at things in a different way. The other one is that she receives the visit of her brother Zeke, a free ager that is not totally adapted to the "normal" life in the city, but who has come to live with his sister while he works in a project for a married woman with whom he is falling in love.
Of course, Eve Dallas continues to be the main character in the story, and in this book she is involved in a couple of different cases. One of them is clearly bothering her, because a woman killed her husband with a drill and then cut a deal with the district attorney, getting a considerably milder sentence than the one she deserves according to Eve's standards. The other case involves one of Eve's weasels, the Fixer, who was murdered in an explosion by a group called Cassandra. This organization is now blowing up other buildings in the city, all of which belong to Eve's husband, the billionaire Roarke.
As with most of the other novels in the series, we find an action packed book that captures our attention right away and plunges us into a frantic race. Robb continues with her good job regarding character development, which as I mentioned focuses more than anything on Peabody and her relationship with McNabb. All of this is fairly balanced with the love scenes that are characteristic of the work of this author. Overall, this is an excellent read; I cannot wait to get to the next novel in this series.
Rating: Summary: An almost perfect mixture ... Review: "Loyalty in death" is the ninth book in J. D. Robb's "In death" series, and one of the best books in it at least so far. The series, as you probably already know, is a perfect mixture of futuristic whodunnit + action + romance, and it is set in 2059, in New York City. This book can be read by itself, but you will probably enjoy it much more if you read first "Naked in death", the first book in the series, and then the others that follow it.
In "Loyalty in death" Lieutenant Eve Dallas continues to fight crime, and has to face a dangerous terrorist threat that has its roots in the past. She has the help of her dependable aide Delia Peabody (who is a little distracted due to love problems and a visiting brother), and that of her "civilian" husband, Roarke (who will help her whether she wants his help or not). Both Eve and Roarke receive taunting messages from the terrorist group, that dares Eve to stop them, and makes targets out of Roarke's properties.
The question is, will Eve be able to find and stop the terrorists before they hurt innocent people?. If you want the answer to that question, and are eager to relax while reading a good book, give "Loyalty in death" a try. You won't regret it :)

Rating: Summary: Lieutenant Eve Dallas rides again... Review: Success is not necessarily a good thing. When you are a homicide lieutenant and in the public eye it just makes you a target for trouble. This time it is a terrorist group that calls itself "Cassandra" who choose Lieutenant Eve Dallas as their contact point for demands. They might be ridiculous demands but the threats aren't mere threats and the New York police of the year 2058 find themselves knee deep in bodies as the city's well-known buildings are targets for bombings.
It began with a murder of a man by his cuckolded mistress and ends with a city in hostage. Eve and her fellow police officers are racing against the clock to find out the true identities of the puppet masters that hide behind a paper trail of false company fronts. "Cassandra" claims to be an organization with many zealous members, but Eve has the feeling that it may all boil down to just one fanatic with a heck of a lot of scary friends.
Firing on all cylinders from where we left her at the end of the previous novel, Lieutenant Dallas cuts through the garbage with her customary snarling style and brutal effectiveness. The usual suspects are there to assist, and we get a great sub plot happening with her assistant Peabody that has been on the boiler for the last few books in this series. Husband Roarke lives another day, just, to win a few more hearts and snag a few more romantic fans into this best selling series that defies pigeonholing. Author Nora Roberts a.k.a. J.D. Robb can do little wrong with her "in Death" series and "Loyalty in Death" would reel in just as many new fans as it would continue to enchant the already converted.
