Rating: Summary: Magic Pants! Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is about four friends,Lena,Bridget,Carmon, and Tibby. This is going to be their first summer they haven't spent together. Lena is going to Greece to visit her grandparents,Bridget is going to Baja,California for a soccer camp, Carmon is going to spend some quality time with her dad,and Tibby is staying home and working at the local drugstore. They find what they think are magicle pants. They decide to mail them to each other during the summer in order to keep in touch. With these pants all four friends experience different adventures. While in Greece Lena has to meet her grandparents whom she has never met. She also has to deal with her grandma who is trying to set her up with a local boy. During soccer camp Bridget develops a crush on one of the trainers. She expresses her feelings to him only to find them not returned. Carmon experiences a big surprise when she finds out her dad is getting re-married. She was expecting to spend time with just her and her dad but know she has to share it with his soon to be new family. Tibby, while working at her local drugstore becomes very good friends with a twelve year old girl who is badling a deadly disease. During this time she learns to always look on the positive side of things. With all these stories they have something to share to each other when the summer comes to an end. I think The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was an excellent book. The author,Anne Brashares uses great characterization. She makes the characters all come to life, the problems they face are problems that normal teenagers face. The characters are also very real. There are many themes in this book, such as friendship, divorce and death. Ann discusses each one of these issues very acurately. Friendship is the most reacurring theme in this book. It is their first summer to be apart and even though they are away from each other they know that as friends they will always be there for each other.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever Review: I am a very busy person with sports and homework, and do not usually have much time to read, but I finished this book in 2 days. An extremely good, true to life, funny, exhilerating book, that in parts really tugs on your heart strings. It put some things in a perspective that other books don't, and it was refreshing to read something like this. I really think that all girls should read it. I loved this book immensely and hope that the author writes another book like this one.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever Review: I usually do not like the typical "young adult" books! But, this is the BEST BOOK EVER!!! You just can't help but get caught in the story, I was up until 3 in the morning reading this book because I could not put it down! It is simply FANTASTIC!! Words cannot describe!! A must read for every teenage girl!
Rating: Summary: The pants seen 'round the world. Review: With a new twist, this coming-of-age novel steals the genre for me. Ann Brashares takes us on a magical ride with the Traveling Pants and the best friends who comprise the sisterhood. Each girl experiences a different, new, aspect of life and their personality during their first summer apart in their lives. With each page, you will become closer to these girls, as they grow and begin to understand the world, and themselves. The novel is brilliantly narrated, each girl developing a real human personality. These characters are not the 2-D characters often found in novels of this genre. Ann Brashares develops them so thoroughly, at least one of these girls rings incredibly true to my own adolescence. Not only are they well-developed, and human, Brashares doesn't give them more wisdom than any other fifteen-year-olds would have. The characters un-annoyingly live their lives as real teenagers, and delve into human emotions that all women have experienced at some point. If you are looking for a light read, with some underlying, and truly deeper characteristics, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is definitely one to invest in. Each girl will find her way into your heart, and possibly show you something you never knew was there.
Rating: Summary: These pants can tell a story! Review: I don't know where to begin, other than to say that I LOVED this book. I absolutely could not put it down. The tale follows the lives of four best friends and one pair of pants. Each girl's adventures while wearing the pants. When I first read the cover, I wasn't sure if I would like it. Then, I started to read it and couldn't stop. This book will have you hooked. You will wonder what will happen next. Definitely a GREAT first novel from Brashares that is in need of some recognition. I am hoping for a sequel. You will love reading about the love, friendship, and security that come in these traveling pants.
Rating: Summary: Pants=love. Love your pals. Love yourself. Review: Lena, the beauty + Tibby, the rebel + Bridget, the athlete + Carmen, the idealist = four best friends, who become The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Since before they were born, the four of them had shared a bond, a connection that inevitably led to their friendship. It was always a foursome: Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen. But the summer before their junior year, the friends find themselves in Carmen's bedroom, their last day together before they're torn apart for two whole months; the longest they've ever been away from one another. Lena is going to spend the summer in Greece with her grandparents, whom she's meeting for the first time. Bridget is spending two months at a highly competitive soccer camp in Baja, California. Carmen gets shivers of delight and anticipation when she imagines spending real, quality time with her father in South Carolina. Tibby is wallowing in depression at the thought of spending the entire summer vacation at home, working at the local drugstore while her friends fly off to enchanting adventures in mystical and exotic parts of the world. None of them know that the thing which will change their entire summer, and their lives, is sitting behind them, smashed in the back of Carmen's dresser. I would definitely recommend this book, mostly to girls, ages 13-17. It was such a funny, sweet story that anyone in this age range could easily relate to it. Each of the four girls have at least one trait that jumps out at the reader, and she thinks, "I know exactly what she's talking about, that sounds exactly like me!" It's almost scary how some of the dilemmas and fears the girls have are so true to life. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was easily my favorite book of all-time.
Rating: Summary: A fabulous first novel by Ann Brashares! Review: The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is about four best friends who are apart for the first time. Bridget goes to soccer camp in California, Lena goes to Greece, Tibby stays home, and Carmen visits her father. The only way they keep in contact with one another is through a pair of jeans. They believe the jeans are magical, and mail them to each other over the course of the summer. Bridget, Lena, Tibby, and Carmen all manage to have very exciting summers and have tons to tell when they are finally together at the end of the summer. This novel displays the true feelings of the friendship of best friends. I definitely recommend it!
Rating: Summary: An awesome story about Friendship!! Review: A powerful first novel, Ann Brashares tells the story of 4 best friends and how their lives change over one summer. From Tibby, who thinks being stuck at home all alone is the end of the world, to Lena staying in Greece with her granparents, the girls come to know themselves and each other through the power of The Pants. It reveals to them their inner selves and how life can change in an instant. If you haven't read a good book in a while, then this is the one to read because you will thouroghly enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite book!! Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK!! I have never read anything like this before. It is the perfect balance of everything anyone could ask for. The writing style is perfect for slow readers or fast readers. I started reading this book as I was walking through the book store and knew right away I would love it. It never gets dull and all of the characters are likable. As the story progresses you can feel the charachters growing up and learning more about themselves and those around them. All of the girls stories are sad, but the saddest would have to be Tibby's. She was possibly the most imature of all the girls, but by the end of the book she came out learning a lot. As the reader you find yourself begging to know what happens to all of the character's summers. Every girl thirteen and up should read this book, you won't be dissapointed!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: It's not often that I find a book that makes me laugh out loud, especially Young Adult books, but this one made me laugh on the very first page. During the book I became involved in the stories of Lena, Bridget, Tibby and Carmen, and I mena involved. Their joys became my joys, their sorrows became my sorrows. I honestly can't remember the last time I gasped out loud while reading, but it happened while reading this book. It really is a wonderful book. It teaches you that it's great to be able to rely on your friends, but it's even better to be able to rely on yourself. This is a great book for tenagers, and it's also very good for grown ups.
