Summary: Great book, but with a few flaws
Review: Because my 13 year old daughter is an avid fan of Meg Cabot, this book was recommended to my by a well known bookstore. She finished it in under 5 hours and was slightly dissappointed. The book follows the lives of 4 teenage girls the summer before their last years of high school, Lena Carmen Tibby and Bridget.

This was what my daughter told me:
The format in which the book was written was terrible. The book skipped around and at times it was hard to tell whos story you were reading. But once you got past that aspect there was much more.

Tibby is left at home while all her friends go on vacation, and makes friends with a preteen girl who has leukemia. She makes a documentary about all the people in her life over the summer, including her boss at the drug store where she works. While the situation of someone getting left behind over the summer isn't uncommon, a 15 year old making friends with some little girl that she rescued is. Bailey, the little girl faints and goes unconcious at the drugstore and Tibby goes with her in the ambulence.

Lena goes to Greece with her younger sister Effie to visit her grandparents and gets set up by her grandmother with Kostos an 18 year old raised by the town and his grandparents. Lena finds a small pond where she paints and decides to go swimming but forgot her suit. So instead she goes skinny-dipping and finds Kostos spying on her. But not until later does she realize that it was his spot first and that he was not spying on her but figuring out how they could share the spot. And of course she realizes that she is in love with him.

Carmen visits her dad over the summer and finds out that he is getting remarried to a woman that she completely hates. She doesn't want someone to take away her dad. So she throws a rock into her dad and stepmoms house and breaks a window, flys back home and doesn't come back until the wedding. She knows that she should be mad at her dad but she instead denys it and decides to be mad at his fiance instead.

Last we have Bridget a beauty and a great soccer player who goes to Baja California (Mexico) for a Soccer camp where she meets the Hottie of the camp, Eric. Eric is a 19 year old coach going to Columbia who has noticed Bridget ever since she arrived at camp. Bridget has tried to get his attention ever since she arrived at camp. During the night she sneaks into his cabin to see him, and he follows her out into the night, but tells her later that they "can't do this." "This" is a little unclear at first but most readers know what happened because of their own experiences. Everyone has that big thing you didn't want to tell your parents.

The other thing is that a pair of pants hardly ever fits all of your friends. My friends and i are all one size apart but thats a rarity. Other than the lack of realism the book is great.

Summary: Reality, plus the humor!
Review: I thought this book was a VERY good way for teen girls, and just about anyone of any age, to realize that they all go through the same of the weird, the bad, and the ugly problems that affect and impact their lives and lives of the people around them. And, also it sort of let the reader know that "hold on! Things do get better!"
I also thought that the story was very well written. The situations and the characters were so believeable. I miss Lena, Bridget, Carmen, and Tibby and I can't wait for the sequel!
I recomend this book to everyone of all ages!

Summary: A Fun to Read Book!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read! It's very funny and fun to read. It's about 4 girls who are really good friends. One of them finds a pair of jeans in a thrift shop. They all try them on and it fits each of them perfectly. They decide to create the Sisterhood of the traveling pants and send them to each other over the summer. Each girls story is very different and very realistic. It took great force for me to put it down and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Summary: The light and the dark.
Review: This was a great book about great friends. I love a light read like this in the summertime! Who doesn't? For another book on friendship - if you like dark and literary and funny as hell - try Sights by Susanna Vance. For a boy-book that's just fun - read Holes by L. Sachar. Younger kids that like weird and dark, should go with Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Read on, fabulous peers!

Summary: one real kool book
Review: This book is about 4 teenaged girls Carmen, Bridget, Tibby and Lena who have known each other since birth.Their parents met in an aerobics class for pregnant woman and since all four of them were due in September they became to know each other and become friends. When their children are born they play together a lot and even after their parents friendship begins to drift apart the friendship of the 4 girls stays strong. Then suddenly there is a summer that these four girls are going to spend apart. Carmen is off to South Carolina to visit her father, Bridget is going to a soccer camp in Baja California, Lena and her little sister Effie are going to Greece to visit their grandparents and Tibby stays home. All off in their seperate ways each of these girls have their own breathtaking adventures that leave you turning the page for more. Bits of each of these adventures happen in the 'magical' pants that Carmen bought secondhand and seem to adjust to fit everyones different styles. Therefore these girls call them magical and insist that everyone get a fair share of them through out summer and so send the around the world so this can happen. This is a book full of unexpected surprises and strong characters with strong characteristics.

Summary: Read this book with your friends!
Review: I loved this book and got all my best friends to read it with, I just thought that this was a great book. Four best friends spend their first summer apart and you won't believe what happens. And the best part is that pants. Just a simple pair a jeans that came from a thrift store. Every girl should read this with her friends over the summer, especially if you are going to be apart, you enjoy it.

Summary: Friends to the end
Review: This is an example of best friends until the end. Nothing will keep them apart. Not even their completely different summer schedules, and personalities. Though they promise to write, they find an even more touching way to stay together. Through a pair of jeans from a thrift shop.
Bridget, Lena, Tibby, and Carmen, all have a completely different body structure, but somehow these pants seem to flatter all of their bodies in many different ways. So, they decide to send the jeans to eachother during the summer, because they are so magical. And who knows if having those pants altered their futures at all? Were the pants really magical?

The pants tag along with Lena, the beautiful one of the sisterhood, on her trip to visit her family in Greece. Despite Lena's beauty, she has problems with boys because she finds them only attracted to her body, and not her personality. With the pant's help, of course, Lena finds herself meeting Kosto, a family friend of her Greek family, who teaches her self confidence, and how to love.
Bridget, the flirtatious soccer queen, is off to an intense soccer camp in far-off Mexico. While meeting competitive soccer players like herself, she also stumbles upon the gorgeous Eric. The problem is that he's off-limits, being as he's a counselour. Even through Bridget's tempting attempts at getting Eric, the experience turns into a disaster that just confuses Bridget.
The hispanic Carmen, flees to her divorced father's house in South Carolina. She is excited at first, but when she learns about her father's new fiancee and family, she can't hold her anger in and ends up even scarung herself with her anger with her father and his soon-to-be wife who makes Carmen feel self-conscious about her hispanic background. I can really relate to Carmen's story because I have divorced parents to, and have very often come upon surprises at my dad's house at she has.
Tibby, unlike her friends, spends her summer at exotic- Walmart. Though Tibby's tough, and very casual, she develops a soft spot that summer. After accompanying a twelve year old on her trip in the ambulance, she meets Bailey, who surprisingly enough, has leukemia. You wouldn't know it though, because she, like Tibby, is very tough and out-spoken. Their friendship evolves that summer into a relationship that Tibby can't let go of.
This book deals with common problems, such as strong, attractions, friendship, family, overcoming fear, and loss. Applies to everyone. Everyone should give this book a chance, because though it is general, it is a unique way of putting it together.

Summary: Awesome book
Review: This book is a great read for the teenage girl. Four very different girls... so while reading this i found myself compare myself and my best friends to these four amazing girls. No matter what kind of mood your in you'll wanna pick this book up and never put it down. It only took me two nights to read the whole thing!

Summary: different type of book
Review: I enjoyed this book. It centers on 4 best friends who are being seperated. Tibby stays home in Maryland. Bridget goes to Baja California to a came. Lena goes to Greece. Carmen goes to South Carolina to see her father. Each of the girls have a different experience but still stay together with a magical pair of pants which help them through all their hard times. I read this during the summer and it kind of is a summer book. If you dont read this during the summer you are kind of sad that it is school vacation in the book and not in real life. This book has many surprises, twist and turns, and makes up a good read!
