Rating: Summary: The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants Review: Hi,i'm doing book review on a book called The Sisterhood Of The Traveling pants. The author of my book is Ann Brashares. Her book has 294 pages in it. The genre of my book is fantasy. The setting of my book is in a lot of places. The places are, Greece, South Carolina,Baja, and Washington. Washington is were the girls live, also were one-girl stays all summer. This is what happends in the book. A group girls named, Lena, Bridget, Carma, and Tibby find some pants that fit everybody. Something happends over the summer and the all have to go on different vacations. They are at Carma's housse spending their last night together, and they find the magical pants. The next night they were getting on the planes to go on their vacations. The pants went with one of the girls. Each girl will get chance to have the pants over the summer. The first person to get the pants is Lena, then Lena will pass them to Tibby, and Tibby will pass them to Carma, then Carma will pass them to Bridget. Then Bridget passes them backwards. Each girl has to write an adventure or something exciting that happends when they have the pants. To find out what crazy adventures they get into read this book. The three reasons I like the book are, first, I really like to read fansty books. It is one of my favorites. Second, I also like to read about adventures that other people get into. Thrid, the people that Lena, Carma, Bridget, and Tibby meet have a lot in common with my life. The people that I recommend to read this book are at least fourth graders and up. I think this because there are a lot of words that some people might not understand. This book would be a good book for people that like to read adventure and fantasy books. Once agian the book is The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants. This book is availble at our school library.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I loved this book! Read it read it read it READ IT! It's a story of friendship, friends that are separated for the summer. They all go thorugh completely different situations, it's quite interesting. IT's a little hard to keep up with the characters at first, but it gets easier as you get to know the characters.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: This book is soooooo good! It explores so many subjects. It talks about divorce, remarriage, sex, love, death, and of course, older men! I love how any girl can relate to all 4 girls of the Sisterhood. It was laugh-out-loud funny, too. Ann Brashares did an awesome job with her first novel and I can't wait until the second one hits the shelves!
Rating: Summary: The most interesting aspect of the book is the title. Review: Four close friends, a magical pair of jeans, and The Summer That Would Change Their Lives Forever. Brashares sets up the characters and story well, but once the Prologue is over, all she delivers is cliche after cliche. The situations are formulaic and predictable, the writing style takes itself far, far too seriously, and the characters are uniformally one-dimensional. And the Pants seem to make no difference whatsoever. If you want entertaining writing and believable characters, I'd suggest Louise Rennison's "Confessions of Georgia Nicholson" series. "Traveling Pants" just spends all its energy wishing it were a Hallmark Hall-of-Fame Special of the cheesiest, most angst-ridden sort.
Rating: Summary: read it with your best friends Review: This was such a wonderful book! Read it with your best friends, read it with your sisters...read it with any girl you know! The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants starts out as Carmen Carmeena buys the Traveling Pants in a thrift shop. It weaves together the story of four best friends - beautiful Lena in Greece, who's tired of boys falling in love with her looks and then ignoring her when she won't go out with them, athletic Bridget in Baja, who's a star soccer player and so outgoing that she falls in love with a soccer coach and gets in waay over her head, rebel Tibby in DC who has a pierced nose and works at Wallman's, then meets a girl with leukemia who changes the way she looks at the world, and Carmen, who just wants to spend a perfect summer with her father, but finds out that he has a not-so-perfect surprise for her - and where they go. overall, a wonderful book
Rating: Summary: a great book about sisters apart Review: This was meant for younger readers but I loved it anyway. Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena have been friends literally from birth --- their moms were all in a pregnant woman's aerobics class and they were the "Septembers", so all the girls have a birthday in the same month. The summer they are 15, they will all be apart --- -Carmen will be in South Carolina visiting her dad, Bridget will be in Baja California, Mexico at a soccer camp, Lena will be in Greece visiting her grandparents, and Tibby will be left behind in Bethesda, Maryland (right outside Washington, DC) to be a wage slave at Wallman's (which looked suspiciously like [a local store], from the description.) The Pants in question are some thrift-store jeans Carmen bought for [$$$]in Georgetown, and makes thm all look good. They will mail the pants to each other throughout the summer and they all have to have an adventure in them. Oddly enough, it was Tibby's story that I liked the most (maybe because I used to work in a discount store too and I felt kinship as the memories came unrepressed.) With her best friends in exotic locales, she makes an unlikely new friend who opens her eyes to what's going on right in front of her as they make a documentary about their ... town. The others dabble in all the typical teenaged issues --- broken home, stepsiblings, first love, etc etc. But Tibby is the one who stood out because she learned about herself without the context of either guy or parental issues, grappling with something that made everyone else's problems seem so high school (of course, that's what they were -- high school students!) In the end, the girls prove it's friendship and love that matter. What a great book!
Rating: Summary: OK : ) Review: The begining was very *complicated*. If u stopped reading this book because of the begining, you should have continued. It becomes more clear after 2 chapters. The book's cover and title is VERY CHEEZY, and makes it seem like a book 4 5 year olds. BUT never judge a book by its cover!! The plot is about four girls - Carmen, Libby, Bridgete, and Lena. Carmen buys a *magical* pair of pants at a thrift store and they all try it on. IT FITS ALL OF THEM, EVEN BIG-BUTTED CARMEN!LOL Anyway, they all go to different places for vacation and they all want to take the pants along. They make up a set of *cheesy* rules and decided how's going to get them and when. **TIP: Lenas and Bridgetes adventures are the best ones** Reccomendation: If you like Harry Potter type magic *cough, cough, LOL, cough, choke* DON'T read this book and get special help. Don't read this if u r over 15 ;)
Rating: Summary: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Review: This is one of my all time favortie books. The plot was very good and I liked the way it was written. It was very exciting and made me want to read more. I was not so sure if I wa going to like it because it looked kind of silly, but now I know trhat you can never judge a book by it's cover. it was mainly a girls book but I would recommend it book to any one. I gave it five stars cause it deserved it!
Rating: Summary: Realistic Review: I found this to be a good book, but at the same time, I found it to have weak points. It really is a miracle that these pants fit four girls of different sizes. It's also incredible how a pair of pants can travel to Greece in a matter of days from half way around the world. Ever tried it? It does take some time. I did find that it seemed like one of the girls seemed a less mature then the others. But at the same time, I found that there was something that kept me reading...something that's hard to describe. I tried to put it down for somethign else, but I kept wondering about the book, so I had to finish. Read it if you have time on your hands.
Rating: Summary: The search for the perfect jeans stops here! Review: Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far, away, I found the perfect pair of jeans. And then they ripped. Now, I mourned my jeans for quite awhile, but that was years ago. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has brought me right back to those jeans and how much I loved them. Ann Brashares writes a lovely book about the friendship between four girls. These girls, Carmen (the one who originally bought the pants), Lena, Bridget, and Tibby, decide to keep in touch not just with letters, but also to mail these blue jeans to one another over their summer vacation. They have decided that the blue jeans are "magical", since they fit every girl perfectly, despite different body shapes. The jeans accompany each girl as she goes through some life-changing experiences. Carmen spends her summer in the jeans in South Carolina, Tibby at home working, Bridget at a summer camp, and Lena in Greece. The concept may sound a bit childish, possibly even "corny", if that word is still used. But The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants applies to any teenage girl, and brings the adult reader back to a time when it seemed entirely possible to believe in magical pants. Now I wish I could just find a pair!
