Rating: Summary: Four girls, one pair of pants Review: In the book, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" by Ann Brashares, four best friends are faced with the challenge of spending their first summer apart, each having to deal with complicated emotional issues such as boys, cancer, infatuation, and divorce. The main characters include Bridget, the athlete, Carmen, the one with the bad temper, Tibby, the rebel, and Lena, the beauty. While Tibby coped with a dying friend, Bridget was busy trying to hook up with her soccer coach. In Greece, Lena purposely avoids a greek boy who followed her skinny-dipping, while Carmen arrives to visit her father only to find him engaged with new kids. I reccomend this book to girls who enjoy tales of friendship and page-turners. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 because it was a story that I was able to relate to. The girls return home at the end of the summer, filled with wordless stories. Although they cannot tell of what they have seen, the pants brought to each member of the group a sense of comfort, security, and reminders of strong friendship during times of emotional upheaval.
Rating: Summary: Travel to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Review: It all started with some jeans Carmen bought at a second hand store. Who knew that when Carmen (Carma), Lena, Bridget (Bee), and Tibby got separated for the summer that the Pants would be their only way to stay in touch. Whether it's when the pants are first discovered or when the Pants get passed on, this book will keep you reading until the final page has been flipped. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves VERY FUNNY books.
Rating: Summary: Sisterhood is wonderful Review: The sisterhood of the travling pants is an awesome book if you love to read about bonds and weired experiences. Ann Brashares style in writing is her own. The style is an easy read and she does not have huge words that you would not understand. The plot was one that u could not even put the book down for a minute to get a drink. The book was really exciting and I felt I really could relate to the story. I did experience the same stories each girl went through. The narrator of the story switched back and forth between the four bestfriends so it was a little confusing but not a lot. When each bestfriend tells their story over the summer, you really get to understand what she is going through. This book is wonderful and you should go get the book to read. I can not wait untill the sequel comes out.
Rating: Summary: This story fits us like the pants fit the girls! Review: I loved this book. At first, I thought the title was kinda cheesy but then I really got into it. It's fun to read (partly) because the authors follows more than one person around; she writes about 4 people! It's funny, charming and touching. I wanted to be with Bridget at soccer camp or with Lana in Greece. I loved the author's description! It was fantastic. I love the way she writes. If she comes out with another book (other than The second summer of the sisterhood) I would LOVE to read it. I can't wait for the 2nd book. They're all interesting, and funny in their own way. Tibby, Lana, Bridget and Carmen are great. I can't wait to read "The second summer of the sisterhood"!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent First Novel for Ann Brashares! Review: Four best friends, Lina, Bridget, Carmen and Tibby are going to be spending their first summer ever away from each other. Friends before birth, the four girls had a special bond that would be hard to ever break, but how would they spend this summer away from each other? Carmen bought a pair of pants at a thrift store. Not an expensive, trendy pair of pants, but an ordinary, old pair of jeans. When the four friends found the pants to be magical, they each embark on their own summers, with the pair of pants traveling between them all. Between trying to be snuck on a soccer field in Baja California, making a new friend in the drug store, wearing them to a wedding and finding love in Greece, these pants truly helped the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants have one of the best summers of their lives. This is an excellent book, and I highly reccomend it to any reader.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I wish I had a pair of pants like Carma, Bee, Tibs, and Lena's. Brashares does a wonderful job of weaving these four friends' lives together, through a single pair of miraculous pants. The friends are realistic and their relationship is perfect, with just the right amount of teasing and caring. I suggest that everyone pick up this book-if you can do that, there's no way to avoid eating up the book. But I warn you, you'll never be able to buy jeans again. You'll forever be scavenging for the Traveling Pants-the perfect jeans.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: A Review by AlyFour friends, Carmen, Lena, Bee, and Tibby embark on their own adventures this summer. As they separate for the first time, for such a long period of time, they look to a pair of second hand pants, that magically fit each one of them, to hold them together for the summer. Lena who gets the pants first, is in Greece. She must learn to overcome her shyness and learn to love. Will the Pants help her? Tibby gets the Pants next. She's hesitant to engage in a new friendship with a twelve year old that is quickly dying of leukemia. Will the Pants help her with acceptance and kindness? After Tibby's adventure, the Pants are shipped off to Carmen in South Carolina. Carmen's father is getting remarried and she's very uncomfortable with her soon- to- be step family. Will the pants give her the confidence to fit in? Lastly, the Pants are mailed off to Bee in Baja at a summer soccer camp. Her new love fetish is a camp coach who is off limits. Will the pants help her with self- control? Will the pants enhance the girls friendship? I thought that this book honestly portrayed what a truer friendship between a group of girls is like. They are best friends who have obviously never been separated for such a long time. They looked to the pants as a pact as many other friends do with other items of significance. I liked this book also for fact that I could relate to each one of the girls situations somehow. This book is a definite page turner. It left me wanting to know more the whole way through. It gave just enough information in each section and stopped at just the right time to capture your suspense. I really recommend this book to girls who like heartwarming stories. Once you've read it, pass The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants onto your girlfriends!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: The title wasn't very appealing, and at first the book didn't seem like it was going anywhere good, but once I got into it, I was like 'Okay, this is actually really cool.' By the end of the first chapter I fell in love with it. It has everything a teenage girl could want in a book, from laughter to tears. It was different, I mean how each girl had their own story to tell, it made it really interesting. And since the four girls were all really unique, with totally different personalities it made the book just that much better. I didn't want to put the book down, seriously. It was that good. I don't read very many books, but I thought I'd give this one a try, I'm so glad I did! I think the author has done an excellent job, it's really hard to believe that 'The sisterhood of the traveling pants' was her first novel. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking a good read!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I think this book was awsome. Its about four best friends who are getting separated for the summer. Before they each left to different parts of the world, they found a pair of jeans in one of their closets that fit all of their very different bodies. They decided to send the pants to each other during their trips to keep in touch. The book is all about what happens on their trips. They each had totally different experiences. One of them became friends with a girl with leukemia, another couldn't accept the fact that her dad was getting remarried, one went to soccer camp, and the other one went to Greece. I really reccomend this book.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: I'm a 13 year old girl, and this book really changed some of my views on things. It's probably the greatest *teen*/*young adult* book I have ever read, and considering that I'll be turning 14 soon it kind of helps me out with my life. This book is a must-have, even if you hate reading, this book will make you want to read it again and again.
