Rating: Summary: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Review: This book is one of the best i've read. It's absolutely perfect for girls of junior high and high school because it contains exactly what is on their minds at the time! This book connected so much to real life. All my friends and I have read it and we all agreed it made you not want to put it down; it's a spell! We love it! I still haven't read the second one but i will soon! READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Five Stars, Five Smiles, Five Tears Review: This book is so beautifully written in a way, it is breathtaking. If there could be six stars, this book would get it. In "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" truth about life, friendship, loss and love is written in a magical way. There are four very different girls, with very different builds that all fit into the same pair of pants. When they split up for the summer, they rotate the magical jeans weekly to each girl. They record there adventures and experiences on the pants and in letters to there Sisterhood. Tibby is the rebel of the group, born from her young parents and is now being ignored by her now, not-so-young and responsible parents. She befriends and insightful twelve-year old girl, sick with leukemina, who teaches Tibby about the joys of life. Carmen is the pessimest, but lovable, girl of the group. She is supposedly spending the summer with her father that she rarely sees, until a little "suprise" occurs and Carmen's perfect summer(except for the fact she is without her friends) goes out of control. Lena is a beautiful Greek girl, who feels that her attention for her beauty is a pure curse. She is spending her summer in Greese with her Grandparents where a boy falls for her. It is through this summer that Lena learns how love feels and meets her "soulmate", the only person like her in her affectionate, passionate, big-nosed family. Bridget(she has my favorite summer adventures) is a passionate athelete. She goes to a soccer camp in Mexico where she falls head over heels for an older counceler in her camp. Her passion and determination covers up a deeper pain hidden inside of her heart. Bridget is the most complex character in the book, in my belief. Each young women learns a valuable lesson during the summer, and the pants symbolize how friendship and love can fit on any person, now matter how different each girl is. I would reccomend this book for any girl thirteen and up, because there is some language and sexual refrences. But this story is pure magic and a rereader. It will show how valuable friendship, trust and determination is.
Rating: Summary: Not just for young readers Review: I'm in my 40's and I really enjoyed this audiobook. It took me back to that same period in my life. The narrator was great and it's a fun and creative piece of writing. I think that having it under the young adult section may cause many women to miss out. Give it a try...you'll enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: An absolute treasure!! Review: This is my favourite book in the entire world! At first the name kind of turned me off but so many people had recommended it that when I saw it in the shop I thought "what the heck" and I bought it. I am so glad I did! Anyway, as you've probably heard it is about four best friends, Lena, Bridget, Carmen and Tibby, that have known each other since birth. They are all in a bit of despair as they are preparing to leave on their summer holidays, the first summer they have ever spent apart. Tibby then discovers the pants in Carmen's room and asks to try them on. They were all surprised to see that they fit Tibby so perfectly. All the girls then decided to try them on and the pants amazingly fit each girl in a snug and sexy manner! They then agreed that these were magic pants and would be their secret tie to each other through the summer, the sisterhood was formed. The story then follows the girls through their summer (Lena to Greece, Bridget to soccer camp, Carmen to visit her father in South Carolina and Tibby, staying home) and their experiences with the pants. It is a touching, fun, lovable and unforgettable novel (to say the least!) The characters are terrific and have very well developed personalities (you feel as though you actually know them). I would recommend The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants to any girl capable of reading a novel (although teens could probably relate to it better! Go and bye it now!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not the best book Review: This book was ok, but most of the time I was bored to death. I think that two of the girls' story was pretty good the the other two were extremely boring.
Rating: Summary: The pants will keep them together Review: Picture this- you have three best friends and the four of you always hang out together. But this summer it won't be happening. Because you are all going your separate ways for two months! For these four girls, it was horrible. Tibby has to stay home and get a job, where not everyone wants to be her friend; Lena visits her grandparents in Greece and meets a boy; Bridget goes to soccer camp and tries to get her older counselor's affection, and Carmen tries to cope with the news that her father has a whole new family. But there is one thing that will keep them together- The Pants. Magically, the pants fit everyone, even little Lena and curvy Carmen. Every week, they send them to each other. And every girl has had a "magical" moment in them, which probably makes the pants more magical. This book is full of surprises, and it is an adventure.
Rating: Summary: Young or Old, Read this Book! Review: I'm 33 years old and have two kids and LOVED this book! My 13 year old babysitter was reading it and couldn't stop talking about how great the book was so curiousity got to me so I bought it. It brought back tons of memories and emotions from when I was that age. The friendship and compassion that these four girls show to each other is a lesson to be learned by all! It made me laugh at loud and cry. I can't wait for my daughter to be able to read it someday! I just started the 2nd book...
Rating: Summary: The Summer of the Pants Review: If I had to rate The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares, I would rate it 5 stars. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is about four girls that are separated for the summer for the first time. The first girl is Bridget and she goes to a soccer camp, then there is Carmen who visits her dad, Tibby stays home and doesn?t go anywhere for the whole summer, and Lena goes to visit her grandparents in Greece. And the story begins. Bridget meets a 19-year-old counselor at her camp and tries to get him interested in her. Carmen finds out that her dad is getting married and that the woman that he is marrying has 2 children. Lena meets a Greece boy that likes her but she does not like or does she? Tibby gets a job and meets a girl that is 12 and hangs around her everyday. The four girls before they leave and go on these adventures they all try on an old pair of pants and they magically fit them all perfectly. I liked this book because it kind relates to life and how people want it to happen and wish that it would happen that way. And I just think that its good the way she fit it into a book for girls to read.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Summer Book Review: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares is a New York Times bestseller. It is about the first summer Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena are apart since they were born. They were all born at the end of the summer within seventeen days of each other. Carmen was the one that found the "magical pants" at a thrift shop. When she bought them though she didn't think anything of it, but when they spent one of their last nights together and all tried the pants on they fit each one of them perfectly. They decided that they would send the pants to one another when they are apart. Lena was going to Greece to visit her grandparents, Carmen was going to visit her dad in South Carolina, Bridget was going to soccer camp in Baja,Mexico and Tibby was staying home to work at Wallman's Grocery Store. This book is a wonderful story about four girls surviving the summer apart with many obstacles like boys, family, and new friends. I really liked this book because it relates to real teenage girls going through the same things. If you read this book and like it then I think that you should read the sequal The Second Summer of the Sisterhood.
Rating: Summary: Funny, moving, and overall an excellent book Review: This is an excellent book that touched me very much. The 4 girls (Lena, Tibby, Bridget & Carmen) are going to be on their first summer away from each other since they were kids. They pass these pants around as they embark on unique experiences. Lena travels to Greece, Tibby stays at home with a summer job, Bridget goes off to a girl's soccer camp, and Carmen goes to visit her father. Though each of their summers turns out different then they planned, they learn important values along the way. It's a geat book that I recommend to all high-school and college age girls. I do not advise anyone under the age of 14 read this due to cetain events that take place. The girls in this book are all going-to-be-juniors in high school, and are all 16, so i recommend it to high schoolers. Parents: don't be tempted by the colorful cover, this is a young-adults/teens reading level, and shoul not be for young kids. This is a great book! go read it :-)
