Summary: Took me back to my childhood!
Review: Although I'm from the Northwest and only lived in the South for several years as an adult, I identified with this book. My mother and her friends had much the same lifestyles as the Ya-Yas, and we must have been quite the Petite Ya-Yas without ever knowing it! My office mates and other friends are passing this book around at a speedy rate, and although it's not everybody's favorite, it is near the top of the list.

Summary: wonderful, yet confusing
Review: i loved almost every aspect of this book, and, being a twelve year old daughter, felt some of the tension between the mother and daughter. but what i cannot understand is why this is such an acclaimed mother-daughter novel. my mother opened to the second page which is (i believe) stuffed with curses and other language, and (it doesn't really bother her) asked me the question i'm asking. i don't need an answer, but i want to be a writer, and this is definitely an experience seeing a different writer write.

Summary: Reads like it's intended to be made into a movie
Review: I've enjoyed reading this book up until the last couple of chapters. The ending leaves me thinking of how neatly it wraps up, ala a made for TV movie. There are too many elements glossed over by the positive resolution to the catalyst of the story. Sidda's relationship with her father is a prime example. Too neat and tidy for me. This is a great read for those who wish to understand the nature of true friendship and loyalty amongst women. It's also a good example of intertwining present and past, how one can never fully understand that which forms a person, how to find forgiveness for the self by realizing all are flawed. Good for a little introspective reflection.

Summary: Fab fable of friendship
Review: What I loved about the Ya-Yas, and what a bunch of the negative reviewers seemed to hate, was that they were larger than life. Although some of the scenes ring painfully true-to-life, a lot of this book isn't trying to be a faithful recreation of a woman's life but a glorious, riotous tall tale of female power, sisterhood, and freedom set against the rich, sensual background of an idealized South. If you're looking for a history or a biography, read a history or a biography. But if you're looking for a handful of bright, spicy apocryphal moments snatched out of time by women who aren't afraid of anything, by all means, read this book.

Summary: IT'S NOT OFTEN THAT I DON'T FINISH A BOOK
Review: This book was ridiculous, confusing and totally boring. I tried and tried to get into it, but I just couldn't. I would not recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: Fantastic mother daughter book.
Review: The Sisterhood was a thoroughly enjoyable read. One I can't wait to share with my daughter. It made me miss my YaYa like sisters I had for many years, years ago. Unfortunately, loyalty wasn't the first priority at crucial times. I.m looking forward to reading her other book.

Summary: Love love love it!
Review: I read this one before Little Altars Everywhere, and I was glad because the characters are more sympathetic in Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Wonderfully evocative of the old South and the new.

Summary: awesome....... what else can I say???
Review: I finished this book in 36 hours....(I just happened to be looking at the clock when I began and finished this book)... That is pretty impressive for a 14 year old. I have never been so enraptured by a book to the exstent where I completely lost track of time. This is the best book I have ever read and I will probably read it over and over again. I am not from the South but nevertheless, I felt as thought I had spent my entire existance in central Louisiana. The book is elegantly written, and even for someone who does not know French at all, I could sense the ambiance which these Frech phrases provoked. I can not compare Rebacca Wells with any other author I have read because what she wrote is unparralled and readable for almost every age. Thank You Rebacca Wells!!

Summary: WHY IS THIS A BEST SELLER?!
Review: I picked up this book after seeing it remain on the Bestseller list for so many weeks/months and for the life of me I can't figure out WHY this is a Bestseller?! I was so bored by this book I stopped half way through. The characters and story was uninteresting and I couldn't get into the authors writing style. Being a woman with a core group of long-term close female friends I still felt this book was a complete waste of time and disappointment.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I simply coud not put this book down.
Review: After two days of great reading, I picked it up again and began to read. I love the book, the characters, their lives, and the way Rebecca Wells wrote it. Now, I can't stop using those French phrases or a Southern accent. This book was worth it!
