Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Together with the "sister" book, Little Altars Everywhere, this is an absorbing and enlightening story. Intertwined with the laughter is the pain and tears many of us remember from growing up. If you read this book you NEED to read Little Altars to get the full effect - probably should be sold together.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put the book down. Review: This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys bittersweet humor. I mostly enjoy non-fiction but Ya Ya Sisterhood renewed my faith in reading fiction. I can't wait to read Wells' first book. Good job. Great job, Bebe.
Rating: Summary: Good story, but doesn't work with Little Altars... Review: I read this book, not knowing that there was one preceding it. I really enjoyed this story, but did feel that Sidda's part of it was a little shallow. I recommended this book to my mom, and aunts and grandmother and they really enjoyed it and took to it. However, after I read Little Altars, I warned them not to read Little Altars, they would've been too disappointed. So much was left out of the second book i.e. the molesting, etc. It was very disappointing to discover that it wasn't what I thought it was at all.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book!! Review: This book is a wonderful example of true Louisiana life. I have lived in this great state my whole life and Rebecca Wells brings out its flavor and atmosphere perfectly.
Rating: Summary: Poor Review: The Triumph and the Glory or The Pilot's Wife leave this one in the dust. I kept hoping for Ya-Ya to express something faintly interesting and it never did. Not once. I was very disappointed. When there are so many fascinating books to read like the ones I mentioned, or classics like Terms of Endearment or the Patricia Cornwell books, why waste one's time with a half-baked book like Ya Ya Sisterhood ?
Rating: Summary: Too much hype for an okay book Review: My sister raved about this book and passed it on to me. I am struggling to finish it. I like the story of the Ya-Yas but have trouble with Siddalee. She's whiny and shallow and spoiled. I think the book could've focused just on the Ya-Yas and been stronger. Everytime we come back to Siddalee, I get bored. I'm at the very end, but keep reading other books instead of finishing this one!
Rating: Summary: Great Read and Thought Provoking Too Review: Okay, I'm a guy reading a "women's book" and I enjoyed it. Read it at the suggestion of someone in my life. Both a good story and well-written. What was not expected, however, was just how much light it shed on a past relationship that had a profound effect on me. It opened up a door for me on what may be going on for women who don't want to commit, who want to run away, or get something and then feel that it is 'too good' for them. My hat is off to Rebecca Wells.
Rating: Summary: REBECCA WELLS-MAKE SURE THIS IS MADE INTO A MOVIE!!! Review: Can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this book! Maybe other books can be written about the other Ya-Ya families. Please say this story will be made into a movie. (Bette Midler would be the perfect Vivi !!! Every woman should read this book!!! Thank you Rebecca Wells.
Rating: Summary: Hueylene??? Why???!!! Review: For the most part, I enjoyed this book. What I didn't like were the CONSTANT distractions describing what the dog was doing, where he was laying, sitting, panting etc. This was so distracting that whenever I saw the word Hueylene, I skipped those sentences/paragraphs. The dog had nothing to do with the story, so......hopefully the author will leave it out of future books.
Rating: Summary: A Fast Read Review: I read this book in about 2 days, it was so good. The stories and characters are absorbing, and just when you think you can judge a character accuratley, you are met with a new perspective on him or her. A great book.
