Summary: Why didn't I think of that?
Review: The amazing thing about this book is that everything seems so simple! Advice like "life isn't an emergency" and "don't interrupt others" is so logical when you read it, and the explanations are so clear, that you wonder why you didn't think of them before. Essentially, Carlson presents all the things we know about how to reduce stress and just be a nicer person and puts them into words that we can focus on.

Summary: Timely, for our fast paced, get out of the way culture.
Review: What a timely book for our fast paced get out of the way culture that we are existing in. This book causes one to stop and remember the truly important things in our life. It will cause you to move from existing in life to living in life. I recommend this book to all.

Summary: Very helpful in changing my stressful thinking
Review: This book has a lot of great ideas on how to change the way you think to help relieve stress. It helped me realize that all of the little things that I worry about are silly and I shouldn't get so worked up about them.

Summary: It's the greatest handbook guide for living.
Review: I am a recovering alcoholic and have 10 years of sobriety. I read tons of A.A. literature, but have found this book to be so inspirational and of tremendous value to guide me in my everday living. I have given it as a gift to numerous people and they feel the same way. Your insight into situations puts many things in perspective for me. I have been through it several times and shall continue to do so. Many chapters apply directly to me and I try to adapt a lot of the philosophies for my betterment. Thanks for writing such a wonderful book.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: One book and my life is on-track again. An insightful collection of right-on-the-money suggestions. I saw myself in Carlson's description so many times, which made me humble but yet proud that I am ready to make a change for the better. Read this book that will change your stressful life forever!

Summary: Candy for the soul
Review: In a world gone mad, there are only two methods of salvation. Watching the soft eject on your tape deck slice it's way through millions of atoms with the greatest of ease and without a care in the world. More obvious is my second choice "don't sweat the small stuff..." My advice is to read this book like the 'apple a day' phrase, one page a day keeps the therapist away!!

It is very easy to overload on Richards advice if you read large amounts at the one sitting the net result being that crucial information is lost. Which brings me nicely to my next point.I suggest that you don't read this once, be marginally inspired, then file it under interesting in your library. This book is the key to the lock that is the myriad of questions that you have no doubt asked yourself but assumed nobody else has these thoughts or worries.

It's interesting to note if a person feels physically exhausted or down they seek a pick me up from the drug-store or pharmacy, your mind is constantly being overworked and unconcious to it's user is generally in some state of exhaustion, do yourself a favour, buy this 'candy for the soul ' remedy and feel nice about yourself

Summary: Impractical for the Type A personality
Review: Don't get me wrong - I do agree with the message of the book. However, it's only presented in a "feel-good" manner and has no substance regarding how to integrate this mentality into real life. It keeps shouting something to the extent of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and offers no game plan. Then again, I'd find it hard to elaborate greatly on my thoughts if all of the chapters I wrote were two pages.

Summary: I've read most of these reviews and...
Review: I agree with almost all of them, I thought that the book was great and I also thought that the same messages were repeated too often. Regarding the repetition, it still did not keep me from using this book to improve my own life and i have used it to become a more effective manager of personnel. In fact, I gave out 22 copies of "Don't sweat the small stuff at work" to my supervisory staff. Previously, I had struggled with the concept of self-help, and the power of positive thinking. I think that this book is the self-help primer. It is an excellent bridge to the positive side. I finally understood that I am what I think I am.

Summary: This book has changed me, my life, even all thosearound me!!
Review: Don't Sweat..... is a book that teaches you that life really is what you make of it. Most of the stress and pressures we feel are self-induced. This book has helped me, changed me. The best part? It is extremely readable, broken down in tiny bite sizes for those (like me) who find self-help books a bit too much to swallow. I recommend it for every one. it has even helped my marriage and relationships with others. Read this book if - you want a life easier on you!!! I love this book!!
