Summary: Definitely not a page turner!
Review: I was in awe of Natalie all my life and I am grateful to read her life story. Indeed, it was very insiteful. However, the style it was written in was trite ,redundant , and poor. Aside from the facts regarding Natalie's life, I almost regreted to turn the page for more repetitive nonsense. The experience was like looking at a dress that had no style, color or form. It was very boring! In honor of the book--the sequence Natalie's life appeared to be very thorough, but remained a real sleeper.

Summary: Natalie, We Hardly Knew Ye
Review: Natalie Wood lived her life in the public eye. Thirty-eight of her 43 years were projected in larger-than-life images. Yet, until now, we never knew her whole story. Suzanne Finstad has provided us with a meticulously researched record of a life that seemed to those on the outside to be a fairy tale, yet behind the velvet rope, she knew fear, cruelty, betrayal, and brutality. Nonetheless, despite all of this, Natalie was always the kind of human being anyone would be blessed to know, let alone, love. I can only hope that the truth, told at last, can finally bring her the peace and the justice denied her all these years.

Summary: Natasha, the most gifted beauty of the screen.
Review: Suzanne Finstad beautifully unravels the stormy story of one of the worlds greatest actresses Natalie Wood. This book is a must for all who loved Natalie, and all who long to know her.

Summary: Best Book I Ever Read
Review: Natasha was very well written. I've never really known about Natalie Woods and now I find her very interesting. Suzanne Finstad had very good information, and her writing makes me want to read all her other books.

Summary: Editing Please!!
Review: Interesting subject matter, but poorly written. The author repeats herself excessively, to the point that she actually insults the reader's ability to recall the connections that were made a few pages earlier. I get it already, tell me something new! There has to be a biography about Natalie out there that has more substance, less repitition, and better editing!

Summary: HARROWING AND INSIGHTFUL
Review: WOW! THIS BOOK IS PROBABLY ABOUT THE BEST BIOGRAPHY I HAVE EVER READ ABOUT NATALIE WOOD OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. THE AUTHOR TRULY MAKES YOU CARE ABOUT NATALIE. THERE ARE TIMES WHILE READING THIS I JUST WANTED TO CLOSE THE BOOK AS IF THAT MIGHT STOP WHAT I KNEW THE BOOK WAS GOING TO INEVITABLY LEAD TO. THE AUTHOR PORTRAYS NATALIE AS SOMEONE TORN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS AND TWO SELVES ONE REAL THE OTHER INVENTED. THOUGH I MUST ADMIT I AM CONFUSED ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS NATALIE'S SISTER LANA SAID THAT DIFFERED FROM THE THINGS SHE SAID IN HER OWN BOOK ABOUT NATALIE (NATALIE:A MEMOIR BY HER SISTER)BACK IN 1984. IN THAT ONE SHE SAYS SHE DID NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THE RUMOURS SURRONDING HER SISTERS DROWNING AND ROBERT WAGONER'S INVOLVEMENT. BUT IN THIS ONE SHE TELLS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT STORY. BUT BACK TO THE BOOK IT IS A TREMENDESLY READABLE NOVEL AND IS PACKED WITH LOTS OF INFORMATION ON NATALIE'S LIFE BEFORE HOLLYWOOD AND HER FAMILY HISTORY. IT DOESN'T SUGARCOAT HER, HE LIFE, OR HER DEATH. BUT IT IS NEVER DISRESPECTFUL OR SLEAZY. IT SHOWS NATALIE TO BE CONFUSED, TROUBLED, AND VULNERABLE. A MUST READ FR ANYONE EVEN SLGHTLY FAMILIAR WITH NATALIE WOOD'S LIFE AND/OR FILMS.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This biography was well written and interesting. Ms. Finstad did an outstanding job of giving us an insight into Ms. Wood's formative years and the influences that shaped her life.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Overwrought
Review: I agree with several of the other reviewers that this biography could have benefitted tremendously from a better editing job. Finstad's extreme repetitiveness grew quite tiresome by the end of the book (the stage mother, the gypsy, the water, the wrist-brought up time and time again).

Her depiction of the events on the night of Wood's death was interesting, as were the descriptions of her relationships with various co-stars. However, the tone of the book, with its excessive italics and overwrought, repetitive tone, was annoying.

Summary: Wanted to like this....
Review: Too many references to circa 40s-60s trade rags (how valid could those quotes be since the whole industry is based on facade & artifice)for me to take this book seriously. I was eager to read this bio - she was beautiful, talented and died tragically. I still get weepy watching Splendor in the Grass. The lack of substantive interviews regarding any decade of her life and the scenario portraying her death turned me off. Could the circumstances of her death be true? Maybe - it's better left as a mystery as reading the purported events in this book.
