Rating: Summary: Ramona and Her Father by, Beverly Cleary Review: Ramona and Her Father is a childrens novel but I would recommend for all ages. This story is about a little girl named Ramona Quimby who is seven years old. She absolutely loves life. Especially her family. One day she comes home so excited because she knows that it is payday for her father. But when her dad comes home he has everything but good news. He lost his job. After this Ramona saw changes in her family she had never experienced before. Her father was grouchy all of the time because he hadn't gotten a job yet. Her mother was worn out from having to work more in order to put food on the table. And her sister Beezus was just mean. Even her cat is in a funny mood. Ramona tries her hardest to make her family happy but it seems to do the opposite. All she wants is for her life to go back to the way it used to be. She knows it never will until her father gets a job. I definetly would recommend reading Ramona and Her Father. Even if you're older, it will take you back to your childood. This is a story that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Rating: Summary: Ramona Gets Serious Review: Ramona Quimby knows that something weird is going on with her family. Especially since no one is ever happy anymore. Finally she finds out that her father has lost his job. He begins smoking all the time, and not doing anything but watch TV. Ramona comes up with the idea of making one-million dollars so her father will be happy again. But since that's highly unlikely can she get her father to be happy again without money? Ramona can only hope. This is a great addition to the Ramona series.
Rating: Summary: Satisfying Review: Ramona's father has been laid off, and she desperately wishes she could go on TV and earn a million dollars to support her family. ("Even one dollar would help.") What she does instead is get burrs in her hair, a compulsion to stop her father from smoking, and some trouble in the second grade. This book is worth the Newbery Medal it earned, and it brings the Quimby family out of the fifties quite satisfyingly.
Rating: Summary: Stockard Channing Reads Ramona Review: Since no one seems to have left a review pertaining to the audio edition, I thought I'd add my 2 cents. Stockard Channing's reading of all the Ramona books is excellent. She puts a lot of emotion into her readings and gives what I consider an almost theatrical performance. It's been 10 years or so since I last listened to one of her readings, and I can still hear her voice in my head when I re-read the Ramona books. Definitely think about buying this set. They're perfect for long car trips or just sitting around the radio at home. :)

Rating: Summary: I LOVED THE BOOK Review: THE GIRL TRYED TO MAKE HER DAD FEEL BETTE
Rating: Summary: Every Child Should Own It Review: There's something amazing about the Ramona books (except, I'm sorry to say, Ramona's World, which was written in 1999; while there were some nice plot moments, Cleary has lost her flair for writing, or has lost a wonderful editor, because the book lacked the charm of all the others). The family dynamic is so well presented. The Quimbys, which different from my own family in many ways, are a family I could always relate to. Cleary also has a gift for prose; her understated sentences amusingly express everything the reader needs to know (even a very young reader), and never do so clumsily, or in a way that insults readers' understanding. Ramona is also one of the most memorable characters I have ever encountered. All of her emotions are completely believable and understandable; reading Ramona books, I always wanted so desperately for everything to work out right for her, and Cleary is very wise in deciding when it will and when it won't. If there are children and parents who have not yet discovered the joy of reading and rereading Ramona, aloud or silently, I cannot urge them more strongly to try the books out right away. They're simply wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Ramona and Her Father Review: This book is about Ramona worrying about her father. Her fathersmokes a lot. Her older sister Beezus said, at her school, they saidsmoking makes your lungs black. Her dad made a promised he won't smoke anymore. He got very cranky 'cause he ......well...loves smoking. Ramona was embaressed to go to her her Sunday school play. The play is about baby Jesus being born. She had to be a sheep in the play. Her mom made her a sheep costume made out of Ramona's pajamas. She got the courage to be in the play by some middle grade school girls because she was cute. Ramona told them why she didn't want to go. Then she saw them put on makeup. She asked if they could put makeup on her nose and make the color black. Sheep's noses are black. Ramona was very happy about everything.
