Rating: Summary: Prediction Review: This book, if it's anything like Glenn's inspiring monologues about the True America...will be great!!! It will certainly top the best seller list just from Glenn's listeners alone. Read this book and recall what America was, still is and can be for you!!
Rating: Summary: Glenn Beck's Real America Review: Finally, America's up-and coming talk show host Glenn Beck has put the thoughts and wisdom of his daily show into print. If you are an insider at Glenn's Sick Freak Central, you gotta get this book. I just can't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I love this author! Great views on American life.. the true america..
Rating: Summary: Methinks something doth smell Review: I was combing through the reviews of this book and came across a strange phenomenom. It seems that there are a string of one star reviews all written about the same time, about the same length, and all by reviewers who have written their first review on Amazon. Now either we are to believe that all these hyper-liberals felt so inclined to write their first review on Amazon after reading this book, or we have a zealot on our hands who would pop in a new cute name a day (yeah, how about Hank from Texas? Whatever.) and write the one star review to bring down the star ratings. Nice try, lefty. As for the book, it's pretty good, realizing that you are of course reading a book by a right wing talkshow host. It's a different side of Beck--one that wouldn't make it on the radio, but one that projects the truths in the way we imagine our nation. One need only to read Tocqueville to come to some of the same observations that have held true through time. Well, excluding those like our disingenuous friend above. Oh, and might I ask, where did your "two-year old" son learn to speak like that?
Rating: Summary: Amazon's inability to filter reviews. Review: It's unfortunate that Amazon is unable to filter out drivel that adds nothing to this list of reviews. Critical reviews such as, "Glenn sucks." are taken as fact; much akin to your average CNN reporter letting any of your typical liberals say that Bush lied to a national audience. Glenn Beck prides himself on being of conservative mind first, and beholden to a political party second. His radio show is one place to get this veiwpoint, and his book is another. If even half of the reviewers here, would actually read Glenn's book, they would see that it's about Self-empowerment and not about any sort of Republican doctrine. His book underlines the fact that in the USA, you can do anything that you set your heart to. There is opportunity for everyone. Of course, close minded is one thing that Libs claim conservatives are, when there are probably more conservatives that have read Hillary or Michael Moore's book than there are Liberals that even picked up Glenn's book before coming here to spew their nonsense. It just goes to show: Conservatives say, "I'll believe it when I see it." Liberals say, "I'll see it when I believe it."
Rating: Summary: The fusion of entertainment and enlightenment... in text. Review: I bought Glenn Beck's book several days before Christmas. See, I'm a rookie listener to the "Glenn Beck Program"... I was told to download "GloatFest 2004"... I was HOOKED! Now, I don't agree with Glenn's Mormon belief. I am a Baptist and am deeply saddened by the fact that he's a Mormon, yet I hold Beck in high regard because he reminds me a lot of myself. He's funny, dead-on, sarcastic, genuine and sincere. I listen to Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck only. BUT, back to the book... he's right. What has happened to common sense in America? If the snowblower says "Do not use on roof" then DON'T USE IT ON THE ROOF! Or, don't eat the packing peanuts in a box! Loved the chapter on partisan politics. "Blah blah blah blah..." The Real America is where I want to live. Actually, I want to bring The Real America to DC or HollyWorld. One thing about the HollyWorld liberals is that many of them dropped out of college. Also, I have to mention how I enjoy the fact that he didn't bash the liberal belief as a whole... BUT, simply pointing out why certain liberals (Susan Sarandon, Michael Moore, George Clooney, etc.) are just nuts!
Liberals, conservatives, moderate of all ages: READ THIS BOOK! You will either laugh at his jokes, love his views... or you'll hate him. Did I mention that everybody should READ THIS BOOK?
Rating: Summary: The Real America - Where I want to live. Review: If you read all of the positive reviews of the book, you will see how people agree with the points of view expressed here and find themselves inspried by Beck. The negitive reviews however are just bashing Beck as an offspring of Limbaugh, political rhetoric gone wrong. Sort of the same meantily of Election 2004, voting for Kerry because he is not Bush. People claim that this should never have been published.
Ironic that it's the same people who rally behind the ACLU and demand Freedom of Speech.
The fact is is that the reviews of this book prove one of Becks points. I dont believe, and neither does he, that liberals are evil. Liberal and conservatives just have a different sense of policy, not principle (to quote from his show). Beck longs for the ideal, utopian America. An America where people are accountable for their actions. An America where no matter what your political affiliation, you are still an American with just a different point of view, indulging in your right to have that point of view.
And who can argue with that America.
A little too idealistic, possibly. But could it hurt to try. In this book, if you read between the lines, you will find that if there is anyone it is meant to offend, it is those who oppose the values of responsibility, accountability, and logic.
This might give some insight in to the mean spirited reviews.
Liberal or conservative - doesnt matter. This is worth taking a look... but only with an open mind. For if you enter this read with a narrowminded view of the world, you are going to end up like the miserable people who gave this book 1 star crying about a right wing conspiracy. If you dont like what this book has to offer, throw it away. If you do find it useful, it's just one more tool in your tool box of life. And whats wrong with that?
In the Real America... nothing.

Rating: Summary: Proud to be AMERICAN Review: Proud to be American is right. Why he waves the flag, hmmm... let me think, let me think. Unlike that Bush-Bashin- "MAN" this guy is PROUD to be American. Deal with that you UN-AMERICANISTS! ( F.Y.I Michael Moore) Be Proud! I totslly agree with this guy! He is proud of where he is from and goes by it repecyfully and does nothing more than express his view points on life, LIBERTY and all the good stuff. He puts that Michael Moore WUSS to shame with his RESPECTFUL, NON-INTROSIVE way. ASs long as you stay RESPECTFUL, by all means, speak your mind. That is one thing thing GREAT about AMERICA, you CAN do that. RESPECTFUL is what Mr. Beck STAYED is RESPECTFUL. I don't here any RSPECTFUL commentary from that UN-rightfully Oscar-winning Directer as of Mr. Moore. Hr. Beck is ABOVE that slime Michael, simply for remaining respectful.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I couldn't put this book down. Although I may not agree completely with Glenn's views, I can respect his opinions. This book has inspired me in my personal and professional life. Glenn writes from his heart. I definetely recommend anyone to buy this book!
