Summary: Posted for Brittney from San Diego
Review: Brittney's ISP is down so she asked me to post the following haiku as her review.

Glenn you dog-killing pig
Pig pig pig pig pig
Pig pig pig pig

A haiku from Brittney from San Diego

Summary: Enough With The Dog Already¿.
Review: Let's get this straight right off the bat; the dog-killing threat was not real. It was to show how we as Americans could mobilize when we wanted to, like in the case of a dog's life being threatened. However, when we hear that a woman will be starved to death, (Terri Schiavo) we just stand by. The whole stunt was to help save Terri's life. There was never a real dog to be killed,

Now about the book: I enjoy the skits and some of the other entertainment on the Glenn Beck program, but I find his whinny and yelling tone to be a little put offish, and immature. If you enjoy the program you will probably enjoy this book. However, if you are a regular listener you will find this book more of a "Best of Glenn Beck". Glenn is not in the league of Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity on his radio program, salary, or as we now know, his book writing. So don't come with high expectations on the material in his first book. Although I agree with most of the ideas Glenn has, I did not like his delivery. He sounds a lot like the wife from hell. Nag, Nag, Nag, Nag.

I would love to see an America like Glenn talks about, (and I am much younger than he is), but we need to lead by example. As an alcoholic, former drug user, divorcee, part-time dad, he has contributed to the problems with America today. Can people change? Yes, they can, but that does not always mean you can undo the damage that has been done. Besides, every generation looks back once they reach middle age and long for "the good old days".

I personally think the book would have sold better without the dog-killing stunt, as it is the sales just keep dropping. I guess like me, a lot of Glenn Beck listeners like their doses in small amounts on the radio, and then we move on to more important things.

Summary: You already know...
Review: The best books will often tell you what you already know/believe. This is one of the books. Beck takes a view of America (the "REAL America" he calls it) and lays out his view on attaining it. He leaves it up to you to see the goodness that we are (can be) in the Real America and provides his insights and life story as a springboard to visualizing it. You can't obatin something you cannot visualize. This is no primrose lane...there is pain in becoming what we can and want to be. Thanks Glenn.

Summary: Good points but too much typical distortion
Review: Glenn is my favorite talk show host because he has an intresting sense of humor. He obviously means well, but he is overly involved in attempting to indoctrinate everyone with his conservative views using the same type of propaganda tricks the Rove team used to smear those that didn't agree with them. One of the interesting points is where he points out how communists had a set of objectives to push their program including getting control of the media and student organizations among other points, but these were two of the most important. Actually this is what right wing extremists have done today, now that they control the radio and much of the TV, to indoctrinate the masses with the same truth bending methods as Glenn's employer Rush. The book has some good points, but its appeal is to the weak minded masses who Glenn tries to flatter to win them over. It is cheaper and better to hear Glenn on the radio so you can turn him off when he heads for the deep end of extremism. Save your money, Glenn won't starve.

Summary: Thank you Glenn
Review: I, like many others, listen to Glenn's radio program every day. I hear his warnings
to get the "duck tape" out and I laugh. Most of the time he is on the money!
Sometimes he can be a bit over the top (GET OFF MY PHONE!) But when push
comes to shove I love to listen because I believe he has a heart. That is something
most "talk hosts" do not have. It does not seem like an act, to me. Now, I do not
know Glenn and have never talked with him. But rather its the "rally for America"
or " The Real America: Messages From The Heart And Heartland" I feel Glenn is coming from
the heart!

Summary: NO JOKE
Review: I don't care what the Glenn Beck Fans say! Sure I have never listened to his show, but I still know that threatening to kill aonimals is not funny, it is not a joke and it has nothing to do with all of us animal-lovers out there "finding something better to do". As it happens most of the time I think political correctness has gone awry - but this publicity stunt has nothing to do with "making a point".

Maybe all of you Glenn Beck fans should go to your closest ASPCA and see some of the animals that come in neglected or abused and see how you feel about the "joke" then.

Summary: Out of Control
Review: I liked this book so much after I read it I used it to go club some baby seals. Jeesh people come on, all of you having a hissy fit over the Bobo thing is just what he writes about being wrong with our country in this book. Get a life and while your at it, get a sense of humor also.

Summary: thanks for scaring the crap out of my kids
Review: Thanks a lot! My kids came home crying because of your PRANK!? You are a very SICK pathetic man, who doesn't really know what the real America is like. Being a young person is hard enough in todays world and being a mom trying to protect her kids with losers like you around makes it even harder - I wouldn't buy your book if it was the last piece of paper left in the world. Get a real life!

Summary: I can't wait for my copy to ship
Review: Glenn Beck is an inspiration to me and my family. He is a man of deep faith, conviction, and courage. I have listened to his radio program since it began after September 11th on 1170 WWVA and I must say that his words and ideas have changed my life. He makes you want to be a better person, personally, he gave me the initiative to start my own business.

Glenn is always talking about consistancy, his show is the best, so his book will be a number one read as well. Glenn always has a deeper point. The Bobo bit (the puppy dog) was one of those. He proved his point very well. Pinheads from all over organized within a week to stop him. But what about Terrie Schivo?

Summary: Buy My Book Or I'll Kill My Dog
Review: Talk radio person Glenn Beck was threatening on his show that he would kill a puppy if enough people did not buy his book and get it on the top ten list at amazon.com.
A lot of people called in to complain, so at the end of the week, he admitted, in a joking, cynical manner, that it was just a publicity stunt. And then, getting serious, he explained that there had really been a "point" or "higher purpose" being served by what he was doing.
People who threaten to kill animals always have a "point." Usually, it's about letting the kids or the wife know "who's really in charge here." It's a control issue - about getting one's way. In Mr. Beck's case, the "point" was to sell more books.
Mr. Beck's show comes out of Philadelphia, where we gather it may be a crime to threaten to kill a dog. We're checking that out. Regardless, we know all too well that people who threaten to kill animals - even as a "joke" - often go on to do just that.
And what kind of example can this man be setting to listeners, especially young ones, who hear that one can get one's way by threatening to kill a puppy?
Mr. Beck is now off on a book signing tour that begins at a Barnes & Noble in the Tampa, Florida, area on Monday September 29th. Quite a lot of people have been calling the store to complain.
Mr. Beck loves publicity of any kind, and enjoys stirring up controversy. We don't want to give him the publicity he craves, but it would certainly be worthwhile to call up any or all of these stores near you, to let them know that if the signing goes ahead at their store, they'll be losing you as a customer. You might even want to call ALL the stores!

P.S. We called amazon.com about this, and a Mr. Curry eventually returned our call and told us that if Mr Beck didn't quit threatening to kill his dog, they would pull his book from their program. Mr. Beck didn't quit, and, as you can see, neither did Amazon!
