Rating: Summary: fun story Review: This is a fun story that teaches colors while telling a very funny tale. My son thought it was hilarious when I turned the page and he discovered *what* had taken the peddler's caps.
Rating: Summary: fun story Review: This is a fun story that teaches colors while telling a very funny tale. My son thought it was hilarious when I turned the page and he discovered *what* had taken the peddler's caps.
Rating: Summary: Classic that is fun & silly, includes teaching moments Review: This is a great little book about a man selling caps on his head, monkeys steal them away from him and then he gets the caps back. Thing we work on with this book a) color identification b) counting monkeys c) counting hats d) balancing several things on my son's head e) how the monkeys were imitating the man. Sweet little book- more to it than might meet the eye.
Rating: Summary: A truly great kids book! Review: This is a sweet story of a peddler who sells caps. The illustrations are superb, and the story is fun. The seller carries his supply on his head. (First is own cap, then the...). One day he sits under a tree and when he awakes nearly all the caps are missing! Where did they go? Well, buy this book and read it aloud to your kids and have a great time together.
Rating: Summary: One of our Favorites! Review: This story has always kept the attention of all my daycare kids and I love the fact that when we're done reading the story, the kids use our outdoor monkey bars as a tree and they act out the whole story!
Rating: Summary: A timeless classic Review: What a wonderful book. I remember loving this book when I was a young child and it thrills me now to read it to my son. Just see if your kids don't get up and act like monkies!
Rating: Summary: A great classic! Review: When I read this book to my son, he loved the monkeys and the way that they imitated the peddler. If you act out the story, it is much more amusing and fun for the little ones. It has a rhythmic pattern that kids love. It helps children to think about what will happen next and predict the ending of the story. This is a very strong example of a circular text structure. All children should learn different text structures. It helps with comprehension. My son loved the illustrations. They are not fancy graphics or pictures with many colors. They are simple illustrations yet, it draws the attention. It is a must read for all kids.
Rating: Summary: We loved it! Review: When my kids were little, we loved acting out this story together. (You need a few hats as props! ) I think this is the ONLY story we ever did this with, and we really had a great time with it!
Rating: Summary: classic and funny Review: When you read the part about the monkeys and their reactions, be sure to mimic the monkeys' voices as they call out. Act wildly as the irate capseller. The kids love it. They laugh and laugh.
