Rating: Summary: Bak Middle School of The Arts Review: Becky Bloomwood knows how to live, she has a gorgeous boyfriend, awesome apartment, and now she is getting married! The only problem is, she has two weddings planned for the same day! One is a full out fairy tale; the other is a back-yard travesty, now if only she could pull out of one... You will find yourself yelling at all the stupid mistakes Becky makes, and smiling when she fixes it (and lets hope she does!). This is a twist on the usual modern day fairy tales, instead of knights in shining armor, we have CEO's in shining business suit, and in place of a damsel in distress we find Becky Bloomwood in Tiffany's (The latter is much worse). We get to watch as Becky over comes a wicked witch, otherwise known as a future mother in law, finds her fairy god-mother who can put together a wedding dress better than Vera Wang, and in the end marries her Prince Charming. Not too British, not too chick-ish, and definitely not too much shopping, Ties the Knot is definitely the best installment in the Shopaholic series. Its fun, flirty, and all together fabulous! Whether you are in the mood for a romance, a comedy, or just something light to read, Shopaholic is the thing for you!
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic seals the deal Review: I'm not sure where Sophie Kinsella will go with this series after Becky inevitably has a baby in the next book (Shopaholic Drives the Carpool?) but Shopaholic Ties the Knot was a quick, fun read. I've read the first two books in the series, but I think you would enjoy it even if you haven't read them. This book actually gets a little deeper than the first two, with Luke (Becky's ever-patient fiance) having some real issues with his cold mother. The main plot, of whether Becky should have her wedding in New York or London, is pretty insubstantial and it's fairly easy to figure out about halfway through which side of the ocean is going to win out. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and look forward to Kinsella's next book about Luke and Becky. Actually, I don't know if Becky is really even the Shopaholic in this book.... she seems to have cut down a little on her spending. I'm giving this one 4 stars only because the extra star would give it Bridget Jones quality, which it is not. Grab this one for an airplane ride or a day at the beach. The time will pass quickly.
Rating: Summary: this was good, but Otherwise Engaged is better.... Review: I enjoyed this book , but for all the brides of an older variation (30+) i would recommend Otherwise Engaged, by Suzanne Finnamore. It is a little edgier and deals with the real issues women face, yet still including the must-have humor that every bride-to-be requires, and that Sophie Kinsella is also so good at. Either way, you can't lose.
Rating: Summary: You'll want to run out a plan a wedding! Review: If only we could have this much drama in our lives. Confessions, Takes Manhattan and Ties the Knot makes you laugh, makes you cry and makes you want to go shopping, but watch your money. Just incase you have to plan two weddings.
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Does It Again Review: Becky Bloomwood is back. This time though, she's getting married. This is a great afternoon or beach read. Luke (from previous books) has finally proposed and Becky has accepted. Snooty Elinor (Luke's mum) takes over and plans Becky's entire wedding, unfortunately so does Becky's mum. Worst thing is, Becky can't decide which wedding she wants..the extravagant wedding at the Plaza in New York or and backyard wedding in England. This book will leave you guessing the entire time.
Rating: Summary: The first 2 were better Review: I couldn't help but buy this since I had enjoyed the other two. It has its funny, hilarious moments. Yet, halfway through this I just got annoyed with how scatter-brained and indecisive Becky Bloomwood is. She was lucky with the way things turned out. Two weddings on two sides of the earth? Please... I wonder what kind of parent she would make!? I hope that book is better than this one.
Rating: Summary: Two Weddings Which One To Choose ~ Review: I enjoyed this book so much more then the second one in the series, I love all the characters in here I especially loved Danny, he is so funny he cracks me up, I wish he would get his own story you know how he is trying to make it in the fashion, business he is just as crazy as Becky. I loved Suze, I would love her for my best friend. In the Two books I must say I didn't care to much for Luke, but in Shopaholic Ties The Knot he showed more of his good side and the more I read about him the more I started liking me. I was so sad to see this book end only because I know that this is the last one in the series, we can only wish that Sophie Kinsella has a brain storm and comes up with another one. Happy Reading Lisa
Rating: Summary: Good book but not as good as the first two Review: Becky's trials of the two weddings was amusing but definitely expected from this character. She is back to her orignal shopaholic tendencies, and I like to hear her amusing justifications. While I did not think it was as good as the first two "Shopaholics", I did enjoy the light, easy read. I highly recommend this series!
Rating: Summary: what about "takes Milan" Review: I was a bit disappointed that Becky didn't continue her shopping in Milan and then Paris and on to Rodeo Drive, but I can't resist her. Very entertaining, with some great visual physical comedy ( Amy in the Barney's dressing room, the trip to the maternity hospital), but I liked the pure shopping thrills of the previous two better. Sure hope this isn't the end of Becky...I mean there is designer maternity wear.
Rating: Summary: Did they pay you to write those good reviews? Review: Obviously it wasn't proofread and obviously the people who wrote reviews didn't read it. If they had read it they would have noticed a MAJOR flaw, aside from all little type - o's. From the outset, the 2 weddings never were scheduled to happen on the same day. Mum was planning hers for the 22nd and Elinor scheduled hers on the 21st. morons
